Chapter 5 - The Face in the Mirror

Chapter Five: The Face in the Mirror

Lian stepped back, her heart pounding violently,

but the image inside the mirror did not move with her.

Her face there… was smiling, while she trembled.

> "Who are you?!"

Lian shouted, but her voice came out shaking.

The reflection inside the glass let out a cold, soft laugh and said:

"I'm you… after you chose the truth."

She didn't understand.

She stepped closer, staring at the features that looked both familiar and strange.

The mirror shimmered like water, and behind her reflection,

something moved — a shadow walking slowly in the background.

> "Do you remember the notebook?"

the reflection asked, tilting her head slightly.

"You wrote it yourself… before you died."

The words froze in Lian's chest —

as if the air had been ripped out of her lungs.

> "Before I… what?!"

But the reflection pointed toward the second notebook lying on the table.

Slowly, Lian reached for it and opened it.

The first page showed a drawing of a mirror —

identical to the one before her.

Beneath it, words were written clearly:

> "The mirror is not glass, but a door.

And the door only opens when one side dies."

The dim light flickered out suddenly,

and on the notebook's page, today's date appeared.

Beneath it, a new sentence began to form before her eyes:

> "Choose, Lian: you… or me?"

She looked up at the mirror —

but this time, the reflection wasn't smiling.

It was holding a burning candle — the same one Lian had dropped earlier.

And suddenly, flames began to crawl along the notebook's edges…

The pages burned.

And the mirror began to crack from the inside.
