Chapter 24 - Shiro Gen Will Become a Great Medical Ninja

Even in Konoha's medical corps, few could use Mitotic Regeneration by palm, the high-grade technique that bathed wounds in chakra to produce astonishing recovery.

It could also disrupt another's internal flow to induce sleep and other advanced effects, and it worked from up to a meter away.

Tsunade pinched the live fish until its eyes went dull, then suffused it with a soft green glow.

The injuries vanished, and the fish sprang back to life, proof of her profound mastery.

"Did you follow that?" she asked when the demonstration ended.

Shiro Gen nodded lightly.

"I did."

He had not opened his Sharingan, yet Tsunade's demonstration was meticulous, and with his Overwhelming Wisdom in play, a single viewing was enough to grasp it.

Tsunade's brow twitched.

Mitotic Regeneration was notoriously difficult; even with a perfect demo and a gifted pupil, one look should not be enough.

She did not belabor the point.

She pinched the fish again until it went limp and tossed it to him.

"Your turn."

"Alright."

He spread his hands and formed seals.

What made this technique hard was its demand for exquisite chakra control.

Chakra moved by the mind, and with his Yin Mastery, his control was surgical.

The green radiance bloomed at once.

Within two seconds the fish wriggled back to life.

The speed and effect fell short of Tsunade's, but it was enough to leave her stunned.

"He did it… on the first try."

"Terrifying learning speed, and exceptional control."

"With training, he might surpass me in medical arts."

Tsunade held healers in the highest regard.

Without her, Konoha would never have formed a medical corps.

So when Shiro Gen displayed once-in-a-century talent, a fierce resolve welled up in her.

She would forge him into the finest medical ninja.

This world never lacked killers.

It lacked those strong enough to save.

She had lived through war and loss.

She had often thought: if there were fewer experts at killing and more at saving, the world would be better.

Alone, she could not change it.

But she had found Shiro Gen.

"At least I can help push the world a little that way."

"Less slaughter, more salvation."

"That is always a good thing."

She smiled.

"Excellent talent."

"Truly amazing," Shizune chimed in, eyes bright with devotion. "A technique this advanced, and you learned it in one go."

Shiro Gen answered gently.

"Looks like I will be able to save a lot more people."

"Good answer," Tsunade said, smiling wider.

She disliked Uchiha who excelled at killing.

She liked Uchiha who excelled at saving.

"Very well."

"If you learn this fast, I will teach you more."

"Ready?"

"I am ready."

"Good spirit. Then let us begin."

Tsunade taught.

Shiro Gen devoured every lesson.

She truly was an excellent instructor, explaining each step with clarity.

His pace soared.

As he learned, his sense for Yang Release deepened, and so did his understanding of medicine and the human body.

...

...

"Tsunade, have you decided?" asked Sarutobi Hiruzen.

"Yes. I have."

"Shiro Gen is not like other Uchiha."

"I will take him as my student, and he will become a great medical ninja."

Her answer startled Hiruzen, but he trusted her eye.

"A great medical ninja, is it?"

"Such an Uchiha would be… convenient."

That outcome pleased him.

When Shimura Danzō heard, he only frowned.

"An Uchiha brat, becoming Tsunade's student."

"The Uchiha still refuse to let go."

"The Hokage's seat will never be yours."

"Uchiha Shiro Gen… now you are a threat."

"This war will take you, as it took Nawaki."

A cold gleam slid through Danzō's eyes.

Shiro Gen knew that studying under Tsunade would ripple through the village's upper ranks.

He did not care.

[Yang Entry (White)]→[Yang Proficiency (Green)]

[Yang Proficiency (Green): You gain a deeper, broader grasp of Yang chakra, and your medical techniques become more effective.]

"Finally leveled up."

"This feels good."

Greater command of Yang meant higher quality life energy, which in turn raised both the quality and quantity of his chakra.

His mental energy far outstripped his cellular energy; raising the latter would boost his reserves sharply.

"If I attain [Yang Dominion (Purple)], I might reach a tailed-beast tier of chakra, not Nine-Tails, but the weakest class at least."

"Even that level dwarfs ordinary ninja."

"And most importantly, I seem to have underestimated the true value of medical ninjutsu."
