Adrian POV
The time alarm of the large golden clock on the wall cut through the silence of the night, cold and emotionless like a reminder that time still moved even when my world had stalled.
I paused briefly.
My gaze drifted to the wall in a quick glance at the clock and it was midnight.
A bitter chuckle slipped past my lips.
I hadn't expected another day to arrive so fast.
With a quiet sigh, I shook my head and returned my attention to the woman lying so peacefully on the bed.
Her lashes rested against her cheeks, her breathing slow and even, as though the weight of the world had never touched her.
As though nothing mattered to her anymore.
This was the fourth day… the fourth day since I brought her back from the Norton mansion…the fourth day since she last opened her eyes.
The fourth day since she was unable to keep up with the date she had arranged.
The fourth day she neither smiled nor teased me.
