Chapter 7 - 7. Achieving the "Good Ending"?

Flo remembered what Sui Sui had just reminded her.

If Flo handled the situation poorly from here on out, the game would end immediately.

Now, these two choices had appeared—one of them explicitly stated it would end the game.

Flo: "There's absolutely no way I'm picking the first one!"

...Wait, what exactly does this "Pet Ending" mean?

So there are actually multiple branching endings?

That's weird. Earlier, Illyco's words sounded like she was going to grant Flo her freedom—as long as Flo stayed inside her house and didn't leave.

Then why does the system label it as a "Pet Ending"?

[Would you like to purchase "Ending Preview"? (Cost: 2 points)]

The prompt chimed at the perfect moment.

"Ending Preview" probably offered a detailed explanation of this ending.

Flo: "I'll buy one!"

It's only 2 points anyway...

[Purchase successful!]

[Pet Ending Summary: Although your physical restraints are removed, Illyco has already realized you wanted to escape. To completely crush that desire, she subjects you to a month-long "training" session. After this "training," you've lost all will to escape on a mental level and have become a perfectly obedient pet devoted solely to Illyco.]

[Rating: Normal End]

Flo: (°ー°〃)

What kind of messed-up ending is this?! Calling this "Normal" is outrageous—it should be labeled a Bad End!

So Flo decisively chose Option 2.

"Please... just let me go," Flo said to Illyco.

"Why?"

"I have my entrance exam next month. I can't stay here forever."

This entrance exam wasn't something Flo made up.

Back when she first arrived in this world, Sui Sui had already told her about the Magic Academy.

Enrolling there was part of the main storyline, and valuable quests awaited her within the school as well.

Her enrollment was scheduled for next month, and she needed time to prepare for the entrance exam.

...Though admittedly, she hadn't studied at all during this time.

"What did you say?"

Illyco frowned at Flo's words.

She undid a button on Flo's shirt, then suddenly pinched both of Flo's nipples.

"Kyaaaah! Owwww! That hurts! Stop pinching there! Please stop—Aaahngh X﹏X!"

"Answer me again—do you really want to leave?"

Flo gritted her teeth: "Yes... please let me go back..."

"...Fine."

Illyco released Flo and stood up to leave.

Flo: "Ugh... they're all red now QAQ"

"Thank you, Illy... Huh?!"

Just as Flo let out a sigh of relief, a sharp little dagger flew past her and embedded itself into the wall beside her.

Illyco had thrown it right before leaving.

"Don't misunderstand me, Floro. I never said I was letting you go. I just remembered I forgot to buy a few groceries. Stay put."

"Also, don't even think about using that knife I just threw to cut your ropes while I'm gone. And absolutely do NOT think about escaping through that window."

"Even though the blade is indeed very sharp, even though my apartment is only on the second floor so jumping down wouldn't kill you, even though the window just happens to be unlocked, and even though I probably won't be back for about three hours—don't get any ideas."

Illyco glared at Flo as she delivered this long string of warnings.

Illyco: "Understood?"

Flo: "Y-yes, I understand..."

Illyco: "You absolutely, positively must stay put! No funny business, okay?!"

With that, Illyco slammed the door shut.

But just before the door closed, she murmured under her breath—so quietly no one else could hear:

"If only you truly understood..."

Illyco left.

"...What's with her? I'm not an idiot," Flo chuckled wryly.

Illyco's barrage of hints—some practically outright instructions—had made her intentions crystal clear to Flo.

"Thank you, Illyco."

Regardless, Flo was genuinely surprised that Illyco had relented.

Using her mouth, Flo grabbed the small dagger and tossed it behind her back, then used it to slice through the ropes binding her.

"Ow... that really hurts..."

Having been tied up for so long, Flo's body was covered in red marks, making her extremely uncomfortable.

She walked over to the window.

Illyco lived on the second floor—Flo could easily climb down using her tentacles.

"Now I can escape."

As Flo prepared to extend her tentacles, however...

[Ding dong!]

[Branching point detected!]

Flo: "Seriously? Again?!"

[Warning: The following choice will have profound consequences. Please choose carefully.]

[Option 1: Escape through the window (Continue main storyline)]

[Option 2: Stay and wait for Illyco's return (Game ends—Sister Route ending achieved)]

Flo: "...Sister Route?"

Wasn't it the Pet Route just now?

Her curiosity compelled her to check what this ending entailed.

Flo: "Purchase 'Ending Preview'!"

[Purchase successful! Remaining points: 60]

[Sister Route Ending Summary: Illyco already understood your determination to escape from your earlier questioning, which is why she chose to step back. To her surprise, however, you ultimately decided not to run away—you chose to stay with her instead. Your choice deeply moved Illyco. Though you couldn't save everyone, you saved your sister. Upon achieving this ending, both of you are declared winners of the 'revival match' and will return together to your original world, living a life meant only for the two of you.]

[Ending Rating: Good End]

Flo: A Good Ending!

Is the Good Ending really this straightforward?

Huh?

Staring at the open window before her, Flo hesitated.

Should she escape...?
