Chapter 8 — Recognition and Responsibility

Suzune and Manabu arrived home, stepping into the familiar warmth of the Horikita residence. In the living room, their parents were seated, waiting with expectant expressions.

Manabu's mother's eyes widened as she stood. "Manabu… is this true? We're actually getting a meeting with Mr. Ayanokoji?"

Manabu nodded calmly. "Yes, Mother. It's true."

Suzune's father leaned forward, a rare smile on his face. "Well done. I'm proud of you, Manabu."

Her mother turned sharply toward Suzune. "Then why can't you be more like your brother, Suzune?"

Manabu's gaze softened slightly as he spoke. "Mom, Dad… it was Suzune who set up the meeting with Mr. Ayanokoji."

Both parents froze, their expressions shifting from surprise to disbelief.

"Is this true?" her father asked, his voice trembling slightly. "You're not lying, are you?"

Suzune calmly held out the email. "It's true. This is the confirmation from Mr. Ayanokoji himself."

Her mother's eyes filled with tears as she reached for Suzune's hands. "Well done, Suzune. I'm proud of you. I'm sorry for saying you're not like your brother… you've done something even more incredible."

Manabu smiled faintly. "Indeed. But remember, Mr. Ayanokoji wants Suzune to be the one to present our idea at the meeting. Not me, not anyone else."

Her father looked at Suzune, eyebrows raised. "Why her?"

Suzune's lips curved into a small, confident smile. "He was impressed by me. Even as a small manager, I went to ask for a meeting. He respects initiative and courage."

Her mother squeezed her shoulders. "Well done, Suzune. Truly well done."

Manabu's expression became serious again. "Now is not the time for celebration. We have to make sure Suzune won't fail. If she does, the company could still collapse."

Suzune's gaze hardened. "I understand." She nodded firmly. "I won't fail."

The family exchanged glances, a mixture of pride and concern lingering in the room. Suzune's courage had opened a door — but the path ahead was still steep.
