Arata nearly jumped in shock. For a brief moment he feared the elder already knew about his affair with Mikoto and was hinting at him.
But carefully observing the elder's expression, Arata realized he was just overthinking it. The Great Elder was simply talking....nothing more.
Even so, Arata felt uncomfortable. After all, he knew better than anyone that Mikoto's pregnancy had nothing to do with Fugaku.
But he couldn't refute the elder. No matter how one looked at it, the Great Elder's reasoning was correct.
Still, the thought of Fugaku and Mikoto living under the same roof made him uncomfortable. ..But killing Fugaku for no reason? Arata couldn't do that.
He was the one in the wrong. He already felt guilty toward Fugaku.
There was no reason Fugaku should die because of his mistake.
After thinking for a moment, Arata made up his mind.
Without saying anything else, he pulled the Great Elder into Kamui.
Upon entering the Takamagahara space, Arata scanned the surroundings.
The hundreds of Uchiha members who had recently been brought in were behaving well.....some whispering quietly, but no one causing trouble.
The Great Elder looked around and was stunned.
.The environment was completely different from what he had seen before.
Everyone was inside a massive sealed chamber. The walls, ceiling, and floor were made of thick wooden panels.
Torches mounted on the walls served as the only light source.
The Great Elder stared for a long moment before leaning toward Arata and whispering, "You brat, what the hell is this? Where are we?"
Arata couldn't help laughing, then explained,
"Great Elder, don't worry. We're still on the original island.
I made this sealed wooden chamber last night with Wood Release.
It's specially for moving large numbers of people. This island is my life-saving trump card.
The less exposure, the better. This way, everyone will think it's just a transfer point for space.....time ninjutsu, not another dimension."
The Great Elder nodded approvingly.
"You did well.
Thinking of something like this shows you've put effort into it. In the ninja world, you must always have hidden trump cards.
Once your enemies understand everything you have, your death won't be far behind."
Arata felt proud. Losing sleep last night to build this place had been worth it.
He then brought the elder to Whirlpool Island.
Meanwhile, Fugaku and the others—who had been informed beforehand—were already waiting.
Fugaku was shocked to see the Great Elder and quickly rushed over.
"Great Elder? Why are you here too?"
Since the elder always stayed at the clan compound, arriving without warning made Fugaku worry something had happened back home.
The Great Elder immediately pulled Fugaku aside to lecture him privately.
After all, Fugaku was the clan leader, and his dignity needed to be respected.
And although leaving his pregnant wife behind to expand the clan was questionable, the dedication itself was admirable.
The elder didn't know Fugaku had been "forced" into dedication.
Fugaku hadn't touched his wife in years and didn't even know she was pregnant.
While Fugaku was being lectured, Arata looked away guiltily.
He greeted Shisui, Itachi, and the others waiting nearby, then moved to an empty spot and began transferring the clan members out of Takamagahara.
After he finished, Arata glanced again at the Great Elder and Fugaku...just in time to meet Fugaku's emotionless gaze.
Arata forced an awkward smile and hurried to chat with Shisui.
Meanwhile, the newly arrived Uchiha clan members were stunned as they took in the island and the vast ocean.
Most of them had never traveled far, let alone seen the sea.
They were overwhelmed by its sheer immensity.
They had only been told to gather at the Nanga Shrine to help build a new clan settlement.
None of them imagined that in the blink of an eye they would be transported to this island....and see the legendary ocean for the first time.
Uchiha Arata walked up to Shisui and Itachi with a bright smile.
Before saying a word, he spread his arms wide and pulled Shisui into a tight hug, patting his back twice with force.....as if anything less couldn't convey his emotions.
Feeling Arata's enthusiasm, Shisui...usually calm as still water.....also revealed a genuine smile.
After all, geniuses were lonely by nature. Shisui was one of them, and the number of friends he truly acknowledged was small. Itachi was one, and Arata was another.
More importantly, Arata had never betrayed his trust. Instead, he had saved Shisui and the entire Uchiha clan from the brink of annihilation.
