Yet, the Third Hokage felt reassured. Shisui, as a descendant of Uchiha Kagami, had inherited the Will of Fire and had grown under his guidance.
The elder trusted his character completely, confident that the young Uchiha remained within his influence.
He decided to strengthen Shisui's ideological education going forward.
A gentle smile appeared on the Third Hokage's face:
"Shisui, this is indeed a Mangekyo Sharingan. Excellent. With this, Konoha gains another ANBU-level strength at a critical time.
The borders of the Land of Fire are unstable, and your growth is truly reassuring.
Remember, where leaves dance, fire burns. That fire illuminates the village, and new leaves will sprout once more.
Shisui, we are like those burning leaves....sacrificed, yet leaving countless successors to continue our legacy and make Konoha even greater."
Shisui listened, understanding the subtle manipulation in the words, yet his heart was moved:
"Though I love my village, I equally cherish my clan."
Quietly, he apologized inwardly to the Hokage.
Outwardly, however, Shisui maintained his usual composure, as if he had found a kindred spirit. His expression was full of emotion:
"Yes, Lord Hokage. As long as our village prospers and the next generation is happy, even if we sacrifice ourselves, it is a noble death."
The Third Hokage, pleased with Shisui's expression, nodded in approval.
Knowing Shisui had just returned from a mission and that moderation was important, he added:
"Alright, Shisui. You must be tired. Go rest. But keep the awakening of your Mangekyo Sharingan secret.
It will save you from unnecessary trouble."
Shisui respectfully replied:
"Yes, Lord Hokage. I understand."
After the Hokage waved him off, Shisui clenched his fist in salute and left the office.
Once Shisui departed, the Third Hokage resumed handling paperwork.
Suddenly, he paused, frowning as he examined a report regarding complaints against the Uchiha guard squad.
He decided to treat the Uchiha more fairly, no longer shifting all responsibility onto the squad.
This approach would also ensure Shisui's loyalty.
Meanwhile, Shisui headed toward the Uchiha clan territory. Just before arriving, he turned toward a secluded area outside the village.
Everything with the Third Hokage had gone smoothly.
To prevent complications, Shisui decided to immediately visit Danzo Shimura. Resolving the long-standing animosity with Danzo, who commanded the Root, would eliminate most of the threats to the Uchiha clan.
The rest of the plan depended entirely on Uchiha Arata.
Uchiha Arata had no idea that Shisui had already handled the Third Hokage. On his side, he had just arrived at a residence near the Uchiha clan's ancestral temple.
This residence was far larger than the average Uchiha home, almost comparable to the estate of the Uchiha clan leader. This was the home of the clan's Grand Elder, Uchiha Ryo.
Arata walked directly into the courtyard, his voice echoing:
"Grand Elder, are you awake? Uchiha Arata has matters to discuss."
After a brief moment, a voice called from inside:
"Arata, it's so late. What urgent matter brings you here? Come inside and speak."
The Grand Elder had a certain appreciation for Arata. As a genius on par with Shisui, though he was close to Shisui, Arata's personality was different—he was ambitious and could be persuaded to join their cause.
Arata opened the door and stepped inside. There, a tall, elderly man with a head full of white hair and a sharp, alert gaze sat behind a low table, his expression serious.
Arata inclined his head respectfully:
"Uchiha Arata pays his respects, Grand Elder."
The Grand Elder nodded, gesturing for Arata to sit. He poured a cup of tea for him, sipped from his own cup, and finally spoke:
"So late at night… what brings you here?"
Unhurried, Arata placed his tea cup down and replied:
"Grand Elder, I come for the future of the Uchiha clan."
The Grand Elder's relaxed expression immediately tensed.
