Fluorescent powder is a type of night-vision compound that remains invisible under sunlight or normal lighting, but can be seen using special tools. Xia Tian had learned how to use it from a young age.
Before he left, his aunt had specially prepared some for him.
"Put on these glasses and tell me what you see," Xia Tian said, handing a pair of glasses to Lin Bingbing. With his X-Ray eyes, he didn't need such devices to see the fluorescent traces.
Before Shadow escaped, Xia Tian had already sprinkled a generous amount of fluorescent powder on his clothes and shoes.
"You actually have this kind of thing?" Lin Bingbing looked at him in surprise. She was beginning to suspect that Xia Tian might be a member of the Special Operations Department—because the things he knew could only be learned there.
"This was given to me by my aunt—your Aunt Ye," Xia Tian explained. "It's simple to use. The key is knowing when to apply it."
"Give me some too. Maybe I can use it someday," Lin Bingbing said, holding out her right hand.
"You? You'd better practice your timing first. Otherwise, even a fool would know you've done something to them." Xia Tian had only known Lin Bingbing for a short while, but he already understood her personality—straightforward, passionate, and full of energy.
People like her were always driven and optimistic, but they also tended to be careless. For something like this, you needed precision, speed, and a perfect sense of timing—skills that required proper training.
"If you don't want to give it to me, then don't. What's the big deal?" Lin Bingbing huffed and turned away. She put on the special glasses, and the fluorescent powder immediately became visible. Seeing the glowing trail lifted her spirits.
"Wait." Xia Tian reached out and pulled her back.
"What is it?" Lin Bingbing asked, puzzled. "We have to go after him, or he'll get away."
"Are you stupid? He's covered in fluorescent powder—where can he go?" Xia Tian glanced around. Almost everyone nearby was watching them. It was a mistake for Lin Bingbing to appear like this on such a street. If they kept chasing openly, Shadow would definitely notice. "You need to change clothes."
Xia Tian walked up to a nearby streetwalker. Seeing a potential customer, she twisted her body and smiled. "Handsome, there's a room inside. Service is first-class."
"Sell me your wig and coat," Xia Tian said, pulling five hundred yuan from his pocket.
The woman's eyes lit up at the sight of the cash. She quickly removed her silk gauze jacket and hemp wig and handed them over.
After receiving the items, Xia Tian gave her the money.
"I made five hundred yuan today! Time to call it a night!" she said cheerfully and walked away.
Xia Tian handed the jacket and wig to Lin Bingbing. "Put these on."
"I'm not wearing that. It's too ugly."
"Do you want to finish the mission or not?" Xia Tian asked flatly.
"Yes."
"Then wear it." He tossed the clothes at her.
"Hmph!" Lin Bingbing glared at him. "Just wait, I'll get you for this later."
Although she was reluctant, she still put on the silk gauze jacket and the wig. Once she was disguised, she actually blended in with the surroundings. Fewer people were paying attention to them now.
"Haha." Xia Tian couldn't help but smile at the sight.
Seeing him laugh only made Lin Bingbing angrier, but she had to prioritize the mission. She mentally noted this moment to settle accounts with Xia Tian later. Then she followed the glowing trail of fluorescent powder that Shadow had left behind.
The trail led to the entrance of a KTV named Denghuo.
"Wait." Xia Tian stopped her.
"Sir, are you two coming in?" a waiter asked politely. Seeing that Lin Bingbing was a woman, the streetwalkers nearby tactfully stayed away.
"Open a private room for us," Xia Tian said, handing over another five hundred yuan as a deposit.
"Of course, sir. Please follow me. Your room is number 32." The waiter led them to the room.
"Why did you bring me here?" Lin Bingbing asked in confusion.
"If you just barged in, people would think you were here to cause trouble—and Shadow would get spooked," Xia Tian said, patting his pocket. "Remember to report my one thousand yuan later. It counts as official business."
"Stingy guy. Fine, I'll reimburse you when we get back," Lin Bingbing muttered disdainfully.
Xia Tian had already spotted Shadow earlier. He was on the same floor but in another room. When Xia Tian passed by that room, he had used his X-Ray eyes through the glass and seen a singing hostess inside. Shadow, ever the lecher, couldn't keep his hands off her.
However, Xia Tian discovered that his X-Ray eyes couldn't see through solid walls.
"Shouldn't we notify Aunt Ye now?" Lin Bingbing asked. She finally had a lead on Shadow and didn't want to lose him again.
"Don't rush. Come with me," Xia Tian said, stepping out of the private room and circling around the corridor near Shadow's room, glancing discreetly at the surroundings.
"Where are we going?" Lin Bingbing asked.
"Follow me." Xia Tian walked straight toward the nearest restroom.
"Hey, that's the men's restroom!" Lin Bingbing cried out as he pushed open the door.
