Chapter 12 - Beheading the Headquarters Captain

Gal Locke stepping on the air and charging into the sky was a huge shock to Nami and the others. They had never seen such a powerful individual in the East Blue.

Hearing that the Marines were going to issue a wanted poster for Luo Chen, looks of anxiety appeared on the faces of Genzo, Nojiko, Nami, and all the villagers.

To be wanted by the Marines meant facing pursuit from the entire organization. And the Marines were a powerful organization that spanned the entire world. Even the countless pirates on the seas were suppressed by the Marines.

Luo Chen looked at Gal Locke's retreating figure, stomped his foot hard, and his body shot up into the sky as well.

Immediately after, he stepped on the air again.

The air under his feet exploded with a bang.

His body borrowed force from nothing, shooting forward several meters.

Down in the forest, Nami and the others' mouths fell open, not expecting that Luo Chen could also walk on the air.

The escaping Gal Locke heard the air exploding behind him. He looked back and was instantly scared out of his wits.

"How do you know Moonwalk too?!"

"Gal Locke, I told you I was going to wring your neck."

Luo Chen's icy voice echoed above the forest.

The nearby Marines broke out in a cold sweat. If Captain Gal Locke died, they wouldn't be able to escape either.

In mid-air, Gal Locke gritted his teeth and roared, "Luo Chen, let me go, and I'll introduce you to the Vice Admiral backing me."

"If you kill me today, Lord Vice Admiral will not forgive you."

A glint flashed in Luo Chen's eyes, and he said coldly, "Vice Admiral? Which Vice Admiral?"

He knew it. Captain Nezumi had someone backing him. But he hadn't expected it to be a Marine Vice Admiral.

Among the Marines spread across the Four Blues and the Grand Line, Vice Admirals were considered high-ranking, with only about twenty of them in total.

Gal Locke did not answer, only shouting, "Let me leave by sea first, and I'll tell you via a Den Den Mushi."

Luo Chen snorted coldly.

If he let him go out to sea, the man would just escape. Did Gal Locke take him for a fool?

Luo Chen wasted no more words, accelerated to catch up with him, and threw a punch.

Gal Locke was no match. His body shot down toward the forest like a cannonball.

Luo Chen raised a hand and pointed. A large number of trees in the forest extended, converging in one spot, and finally formed a massive, ten-meter-tall Wood Golem.

The Golem's hand, as large as a cattail fan, slapped down.

Gal Locke had just crawled up from the ground, looking disheveled. At this moment, he could only grit his teeth and take the hit.

The Wood Golem's strength was in no way inferior to Luo Chen's own.

The completely despairing Gal Locke was slapped deep into the earth.

He lay in a crater in the shattered ground, the joints of his body twisted at bizarre angles. His gold-rimmed glasses were broken, with only half an arm remaining, and his black suit was torn and stained a dark red with blood.

The Wood Golem's giant hand reached out and picked up Gal Locke as if grabbing a chick.

"Luo... Chen... spare... spare me..."

Gal Locke begged, his voice as faint as a mosquito's buzz.

Luo Chen said nothing. He landed on the giant's shoulder and returned to where Nami and Genzo were.

Nami and the others, who had been waiting, breathed a long sigh of relief only when they saw Luo Chen return safely with Gal Locke captured.

To be honest, the sense of pressure Gal Locke gave them was immense.

He had killed no fewer than ten pirates with bounties over fifty million.

His near-teleportation speed.

And his mysterious, inhuman ability to walk on air.

It had made them think for a moment that Luo Chen couldn't possibly stand against him.

Only after seeing Gal Locke defeated with their own eyes did the group finally relax.

Genzo, Nami, and Nojiko looked at Luo Chen on top of the giant Wood Golem, their hearts filled with shock.

It seemed that Luo Chen had become even stronger than when he had killed Arlong. The instantaneous high-speed movement, charging into the sky to walk, and the Wood Golem were all abilities they had never seen before.

Luo Chen controlled the Wood Golem, using its other large hand to lift Nami and the others, and walked down the mountain.

He himself once again summoned the Wood Dragon, rose into the air, and patrolled the forest, killing the fleeing Marines.

These Marines had the blood of innocent villagers on their hands; Luo Chen showed no mercy in killing them.

In a short while, all the Marines inside and outside the forest were slain, their blood staining the green mountain red.

The Wood Dragon and the giant Wood Golem returned together to the fire-engulfed Cocoyasi Village.

Genzo, Nami, Nojiko, and the dozen or so surviving villagers were placed on the ground by the Wood Golem.

They looked at the corpses strewn across the streets. Tears fell uncontrollably, and the sound of weeping echoed through the deathly silent village.

Luo Chen was silent, his hands clenched so tightly that blood slowly dripped down.

He could not escape responsibility for the deaths of these villagers. If not for the butterfly effect he had created, if he had waited for the plot to unfold as it should have, Luffy would have liberated Cocoyasi Village, and no one would have died.

Luo Chen walked over to the dying Gal Locke, who was lying on the ground. He grabbed him by the hair and said angrily:

"Who the hell sent you?!"

A mocking smile appeared on Gal Locke's blood-covered face. "Will you spare me if I tell you?"

Luo Chen grabbed his already broken right arm and yanked with force.

Rip...

Flesh tore from bone as Luo Chen ripped the entire right arm off.

Gal Locke screamed in agony, cold sweat instantly breaking out. He gritted his teeth and said:

"Torture me? If you want to know the truth, then let me go out to sea! Otherwise, I'll die before I tell you!"

Luo Chen's eyes turned completely frigid. He reached out and grabbed him by the neck.

"Say it or not, as you wish. I will find out the truth of this matter. Now it's time to wring your neck."

Fear flashed in the depths of Gal Locke's eyes, but he still sneered, "Kill me then, Luo Chen! Come on, I'll be waiting for you down below!"

"That Vice Admiral will not let you go!"

Luo Chen extended wooden vines from his palm, which wrapped around Gal Locke's head. He said indifferently:

"Go on down and wait for that Vice Admiral."

The wooden vines wrapping Gal Locke's head suddenly twisted.

A bloody head rolled onto the ground.

Luo Chen picked up Gal Locke's head.

At that moment, Genzo walked over slowly, his expression dim with grief. He said, "Luo Chen, can you help us one more time?"

Luo Chen nodded. "Revenge? You don't have to ask. I will find the Vice Admiral behind this and avenge everyone."

Genzo shook his head. "No, not revenge. Let it be. I want you to help us bury everyone."

"So many people... so many people, I can't bury them all..." As Genzo spoke, his voice choked up again. He covered his eyes with one hand, tears streaming down, his shoulders shaking uncontrollably.

Luo Chen nodded silently. With a thought, trees rose from the ground and quickly wove themselves into more than five hundred coffins.

He once again controlled the wooden vines, which wrapped around the bodies of the villagers in the streets and inside the houses, and slowly moved them into the coffins.

Five hundred and thirty-seven coffins. The lids were sealed tightly, and they were arranged in silent, neat rows on the streets of Cocoyasi Village.

A long time later, Genzo's emotions gradually stabilized, and he was able to speak normally.

He took Gal Locke's head, his voice hoarse. "We'll use this beast's head as an offering to the villagers."

Genzo looked at Luo Chen and said dejectedly, "Don't go provoking the Marines. A Vice Admiral is someone we can't afford to offend."

"I don't know the reason behind today's massacre, but don't investigate it any further. You'll be in danger."

Carrying Gal Locke's head, he slowly walked into the distance.

Luo Chen stood silently in his place.

Nojiko's and Nami's eyes were red. The two women stood beside him and comforted him, "Luo Chen, listen to Mr. Genzo. Although we all want revenge, a Marine Vice Admiral is too powerful."

"Killing the murderer, Gal Locke, is enough."

Luo Chen looked at them and nodded slightly. "Alright, I know."

He turned and left.

The burial of the villagers would have to wait. Genzo, Nami, and the others needed to sort through the belongings of the deceased.
