Chapter 2 - beginning of a journey in another world part 1 : from a prison to another and new skill??

ahhhhhhhhhhhhhh, i screamed while falling throw space or was it a dimension? i had no idea where or when i was going to land but it was the effect of a mysterious power used by the "worlds traveling guide" aka that orb i met, i guess i will call it W.T.G orb or W.T.G for short, i been falling for a while now for what it seems like an eternity...nope it wasn't and once again i am terrible at telling time, well it seems that i can't communicate with W.T.G and i have no idea why..., it looks like i can't speak to it while were world traveling, that is inconvenient though, well the only thing i can do is wait until we arrive at our destination which is currently unknown, i let out a exasperated sigh.

after 2 hours of endlessly falling i have finally arrived and started to see a clear place of where i was going, it turned out to be what's that? a huge land a lot of forests and a huge tower surrounded by lots and lots of buildings and houses, i haven't reached the world yet it's like i am falling in slow motion, err? well i wasn't but sure it seems close enough,

after all the world was a mix of magic and technology a dominating tower reaching the sky with the red and colors and shape surrounded by millions of buildings and houses other the streets are full of people doing their work and merchants and other things

i am getting closer and closer to the world, it just hit me like a thunder strike, aren't i going to die if i fall from that high up-oh right i am falling in slow motion but what if my falling speed increases when i actually reach the world yeh if that happens i am 100% cooked. but that doesn't seem like happening at any time soon so i should be okay until then.

the system screen appeared again in front of me while i am falling.

[would user like to arrive at: [the fantasy margule world]

[yes/no]

that message appeared in front of me; it looks like i need to accept it if i want to reach the world i am traveling to, so from that thought i won't fall and take a hit to the ground but i was wrong and made a very big mistake

"i accept" i said accepting the systems message

the screen disappeared and i started falling and accelerating in my speed, if that continued i was going to be dead when i make contact with the earth i had to find something to do before that happens, and W.T.G isn't saying anything no matter how many times i talked to it, i was in a big trouble.

i was very close to hitting the ground falling with that accelerating speed it was a miracle i was alive when i was falling with that speed and i haven't even touched the ground yet, i spoke too soon and

"SHRR-KRAANG!"

ouch, i let out a grunt after the impact currently on my back i could tell i crashed into an apple stand i could hear the people screaming and the apple stand owner was either angry or sad i couldn't tell my eyes were closed and i could only hear what was happening around me, soon after bunch of guards came out and pointed their spears at me.

"...mmh..."

i lost consciousness, after some time i woke up in an empty prison cell,

The boy slowly opened his eyes, blinking several times as his mind struggled to make sense of the darkness around him. His head throbbed like he had been hit by a celestial mallet — or maybe just an angry apple vendor with superhuman strength.

The floor beneath him was cold and hard, the kind that screamed "you're in trouble." A faint light flickered from the torch mounted on the opposite wall, revealing stone bricks, rusty bars, and the unmistakable smell of wet mold.

A prison.

Of course.

Of all the ways to start a new life in another world, this was not exactly the grand, heroic introduction he imagined.

The hero's journey, as he knew it, usually began with a dramatic reincarnation scene — perhaps a mysterious goddess, a shining sword, a kingdom in peril. Not an empty cell that smelled like rotten potatoes and despair.

He sighed.

From the corner of the ceiling, something glimmered faintly — a soft bluish light, pulsing in rhythm. The orb, the so-called "World Traveling Guide," slowly floated down and hovered in front of him.

"Oh, so you finally decided to show up," he muttered, glaring at it.

The orb wobbled a little, as if offended."I was... recalibrating."

"Recalibrating? You disappeared when I was literally about to die!"

"I didn't disappear," the orb said in a calm tone that somehow made it more infuriating. "The dimensional transfer completed successfully. You are alive, aren't you?"

"Barely!" He sat up and rubbed his head. "You couldn't at least make me land on a soft bed of flowers or something?"

"I did attempt to calculate a safe landing zone," the orb replied. "However, your acceptance of the arrival prompt prematurely accelerated the descent sequence."

He blinked. "...So it's my fault now?"

"Technically, yes."

He wanted to punch the glowing ball.

Before he could continue arguing, footsteps echoed through the corridor outside the cell. Two armored guards appeared, carrying spears and wearing expressions that suggested they were very tired of their jobs.

"Well, look who's awake," one of them said, tapping the bars with his spear. "Fell from the sky, crashed through the market, destroyed an old man's apple stand... You've caused quite a scene."

The boy laughed nervously. "Heh... yeah, about that... my bad?"

"Your bad?" The second guard looked unimpressed. "You're lucky no one was hurt. The city watch thought you were some kind of monster. You should be grateful we didn't stab first and ask later."

"Wow. Great hospitality. I love it here already," he said sarcastically.

The first guard snorted. "Save the jokes for the captain. She'll want to know what to do with you."

The two guards exchanged glances before leaving. One muttered something about "skyfall cases" being bad luck.

The boy turned to the orb. "So... any idea where we are?"

The orb hummed softly. "We are currently in the city of Ardenfall, located in the central continent of the world known as Margule. This is one of the core cities surrounding the Tower of Ascension — a nexus of both magic and technology."

He blinked. "Tower of Ascension? That sounds important."

"It is the focal point of this world's power. Every mage, adventurer, and scholar seeks to reach its top. It is said that the one who does will attain godhood."

He stared at it, wide-eyed. "...So, what you're saying is, this world basically has a giant climb-the-tower-and-become-a-god questline?"

"That is an accurate summary."

He grinned. "Nice."

Then he frowned. "Wait. How do I climb anything when I'm literally in jail?"

The orb blinked. "You could wait for your trial."

"Trial? I didn't do anything wrong! The ground hit me!"

"That is not how local law works."

Before he could respond, the door creaked open again. A woman in sleek, crimson armor entered, her steps confident and sharp. Her long black hair was tied neatly behind her, and a small mechanical eyepiece glowed faintly over her left eye — a fusion of magic and machinery.

She stopped in front of his cell and crossed her arms. "So, you're the one who fell from the sky."

"...Guilty?"

"Name."

He hesitated. "Yeah, about that... I might have forgotten it."

Her brow arched. "Forgotten?"

"Yes. Complete memory loss. Very tragic. Happened right after I didn't die."

The woman stared at him silently for a few seconds. Then she sighed. "Typical. Another 'amnesiac skyfall.'"

"Wait, this happens often?" he asked.

"More often than I'd like," she said. "Half of them end up being cultists. The other half... well, let's just say they don't adapt well."

The orb floated closer to the bars. "He is not a cultist. He is my contractor."

The woman blinked. "Your... what now?"

"I am the World Traveling Guide assigned to this soul. His arrival was authorized under the Celestial Transfer Protocol."

The woman gave the orb a long, skeptical look. "...You're one of those anomalies from the Outer Realms, aren't you?"

"That is one way to describe me," the orb said proudly.

The woman turned back to the boy. "Fine. You'll come with me. The Guildmaster will decide what to do with you."

The cell door opened with a metallic click.

As he stood up, his legs wobbled a little. The orb hovered beside him like a smug pet that didn't know how much trouble it caused.

They followed the woman through dim hallways that gradually brightened into a massive courtyard. The moment he stepped outside, he was hit with the overwhelming sight of the city of Ardenfall.

It was breathtaking.

Giant, floating platforms drifted above stone towers. Bridges of glowing light connected spires that pierced the sky. Steam and magic intertwined in the air — gears and runes, engines and spells, all working in harmony.

He couldn't help but stare in awe. "Whoa... this is like someone mashed medieval fantasy and cyberpunk together."

"Welcome to Margule," the orb said. "Population: unpredictable."

They soon reached a tall building with an emblem shaped like a sword piercing through a gear. The woman led him inside to a large chamber filled with people in uniforms, maps, and glowing crystals.

"This is the Adventurers' Guild," she said. "You'll be processed here."

"Processed? Like... I'm a package?"

"More like a potential problem," she replied dryly.

At the far end of the room, behind a desk filled with documents and half-drunk coffee, sat an older man with silver hair and a cybernetic arm. His sharp eyes looked up from his paperwork.

"Ah. Another one from the sky?" he asked.

The woman nodded. "He crashed in the southern market."

The man sighed. "At least it wasn't the bakery this time. That one took weeks to rebuild."

He gestured for the boy to approach. "Name?"

He scratched his head. "Still don't have one. Long story."

"Then we'll have to assign you one," the man said. He leaned back. "How about... Skyfall?"

The boy grimaced. "That sounds too cliche? and very bad..."

"Then pick something better."

He thought for a moment. "...ace."

The man nodded. "Alright, ace. Welcome to Margule. You'll be registered as a transient traveler under the Guild's supervision. That means you're not free to wander just yet."

ace frowned. "So basically, I'm on probation?"

"Exactly."

The orb floated around him in circles. "That is preferable to incarceration."

ace rolled his eyes. "Not by much."

The Guildmaster chuckled. "Don't worry, kid. You'll get used to it. Everyone does — or they die trying."

That did not sound reassuring.

He spent the next hour being questioned, measured, and examined by various Guild staff. They checked for "corruption traces," "dimensional residues," and something called a "soul anchor stability."

Apparently, he passed — though barely.

Once done, the woman from earlier returned. "The Guildmaster approved your conditional release. You'll stay in the outer dormitory until further notice."

ace sighed in relief. "Finally, some freedom."

"Don't celebrate yet," she said. "You're also required to complete orientation training tomorrow."

"Orientation? Like... school?"

"Yes. And you will attend."

He groaned. "Great. I escaped one prison just to enroll in another."

The orb hummed beside him. "At least you are alive."

He glared at it. "For now."

As they left the Guild building, the sun was setting over Ardenfall, painting the skies with gold and crimson. The enormous Tower of Ascension loomed in the distance, glowing faintly like it was watching everything.

ace stared at it silently. For the first time since arriving, a flicker of excitement replaced his exhaustion.

A new world. Magic. Technology. Endless possibilities.

great now that i am here, W.T.G mind opening that system for a second

"why?"

"just do it i want to see if i got any fancy skills or anything like that"

"very well then"

the system status window opened

[species: dimension traveling human]

[name status: just received the name {ace}]

[the name ace has successfully been embodied into the user's soul]

[lvl: 2]

[skills: previously none] - [skills: now acquired the special skill {soul imprint}

skill Name: {Soul Imprint}

[Description]: Upon receiving a name, the user gains the ability to temporarily imbue his soul's essence into objects or beings, granting them minor effects or enhancements based on his will. Initially, the effects are weak and unpredictable, but as the user grows stronger, the skill can manipulate larger objects, living creatures, or even dimensions.

[Initial Effects at Level 2]:

Can leave minor "traces" of his soul in objects (like marking them for recall or sensing them).

Slight physical or magical enhancement when he focuses on himself (small boosts to strength, speed, or reflexes).]

[quest obtained: training to reach the top]

[quest requirements]:[100 push-ups: {0/100}] [100 se-tups {0/100}] [100 squats {0/100}]

[50 km run {0km/50 km}] [dimensional borrowing {0/100}]

"...so u also gave a quest...and this one to be exact...are u crazy!!??"

"…So, let me get this straight," I said, staring at the numbers. "You want me to do physical training and also… borrow your powers a hundred times? Are you insane?!"

"Not insane. Challenged," W.T.G corrected.

"Challenged!? I've barely survived falling from space! You want me to do what… athletic stuff AND magic stuff?!"

"Exactly. That is why it is a quest."

I groaned dramatically. "Great. I just got a skill that makes dummies twitch and a quest that will probably kill me before I can even climb that tower."

W.T.G hummed smugly. "You'll manage. Or not. Either outcome is interesting."

I buried my face in my hands. "Of course. This is my life now. Falling from the sky, getting arrested, Why am I even alive right now?"

"…Probably for comedy," W.T.G said.

 "Yeah, probably."

Then a mischievous idea hit me. "…Wait. If I can imbue my soul into things… can I use this to cheat on my training?"

"Possibly," the orb said, tone unreadable. "But if you overuse Soul Imprint without control, it could destabilize your essence."

I stared at it. "You just said 'possibly' and 'could' in the same sentence. That's terrifyingly vague."

"Learning is rarely safe," W.T.G said simply.

I sighed. "…Fine. I guess it's time for training."

And thus began my first official day as Ace, the dimension-traveling human with a twit, a brand-new Soul Imprint skill, and a quest that might very well kill me.

"…I can't believe this is my life now,",

well i did ask for it when i wanted to throw myself under a damn truck, sigh well, i also got myself this soul imprint skill.... well see what it does

and thus, i began my journey as ace in another world not exactly what i wished for but will suffice for now...
