Chapter 18 - 018

TL: There are names for these chapters, but I never write them because personally? It kinda spoils the contents of the chapters for me, thus I keep it out.

"Boom!"

Chizuki had not gone far when she heard a loud roar from nearby.

"What's going on?!" The moment Chizuki turned around, she saw the fiery glow of an explosion.

She immediately rushed back in a hurry.

Something must have happened.

"Go down!"

A massive bolt of lightning erupted from the longsword of the Kairagi, Leiteng.

"Meow!" In an instant, Chizuki mustered all her strength and charged toward Leiteng.

*I can't let anything happen to them!*

Chizuki leaped, her sharp claws digging into Leiteng's face.

A large number of Higi Village's villagers were scattered on the ground.

Because they hadn't brought many weapons and hadn't expected a sudden sneak attack from the Nobushi, they were caught off guard and had been overpowered.

Shima-mura was being protected, surrounded by the others.

"Are you okay?" After briefly distracting Leiteng, Chizuki found a gap and ran to Shima-mura's side.

"Shima-mura, you little one, retreat first! We can still hold on here for a bit. Hurry and run back to the village to get help!" one of the villagers shouted to Shima-mura behind them.

"Don't even think about running!" The moment a Nobushi saw Shima-mura trying to slip away, he immediately raised his sword and gave chase.

Chizuki rushed over as well.

"Everyone, get out of the way!" She practically ground her claws until they sparked, the silver sword held in her mouth.

She caught up from behind and stabbed the Nobushi in the back of his shoulder, stopping his forward slash.

Shima-mura was forced to run in the opposite direction of Higi Village.

Terror was written all over Shima-mura's young face.

But because the leg injury she had sustained earlier hadn't healed yet, her running speed was slightly reduced.

If Chizuki hadn't been constantly buying her time from behind, she would have likely been caught long ago.

The entire way was a chase of encirclement and interception.

Shima-mura was forced onto a purple beach.

Further in, a dense wave of Electro energy rushed to meet them. It felt as if taking one more step forward would subject them to the judgment of lightning itself.

But the surrounding Nobushi were already closing in.

Chizuki was injured again.

Her body, which had not yet fully recovered, now suffered further damage.

Her already dire condition went from bad to worse.

She watched her surroundings vigilantly, but did not retreat a single step.

She could not allow these people to harm the innocent child behind her.

She arched her back, a low growl rumbling from her throat.

Shima-mura bit her lip, glanced at Chizuki in front of her, and said in a low voice, "The only way is to try and rush in together!"

Chizuki understood her meaning.

She slowly took a step back.

After tossing out the Thunder Slime box from her inventory, Chizuki followed Shima-mura and plunged headfirst into the Musoujin Gorge.

The Electro energy inside was more than an ordinary person could bear, but it seemed there was no other choice at the moment.

Chizuki seemed to be holding up fine, but the color visibly drained from Shima-mura's face the instant she entered the Musoujin Gorge.

"Are you okay?" Shima-mura's face was pale. She hesitated for a few seconds, but then nodded firmly.

Relying on her excellent eyesight, Chizuki saw that the Nobushi outside were still gathered in front of the Musoujin Gorge and hadn't left.

They had to find another way out.

She understood this.

They absolutely could not just sit here and wait for death.

"I'm sorry, I dragged you into this," Shima-mura said, filled with self-blame.

In truth, Chizuki had already left before the Nobushi attacked, and she could have simply chosen not to return.

But she came back without a second thought.

"I'm the fluffy cat guardian deity for you kids, you know. Protecting you is my duty." Of course, Chizuki wouldn't just stand by and let such a terrible thing happen right before her eyes.

But misfortune follows the unfortunate, and one disaster followed another.

Just as Chizuki was about to catch her breath, she heard the sound of panting approaching from a distance.

"Roar!"

It was the sound of Monsters!

Chizuki was startled.

As the Monsters' roars grew clearer, Chizuki saw arcs of electricity flashing on the ground not far away.

A Thunderhelm Lawachurl let out a furious roar as dense Electro energy overflowed from its body, growing from the fissures in its skin in the form of Electro Crystals.

It spotted Chizuki and Shimamura almost immediately.

As for the Nobushi at the mouth of Musoujin Gorge, they had already fled the moment they heard the Thunderhelm Lawachurl's roar.

As the Thunderhelm Lawachurl slammed its fists heavily into the ground, a powerful shockwave of Electro energy began to sweep over the surrounding creatures.

Chizuki, being closer, barely managed to react, her body keeping up with her mind. But she had only taken half a step back when she was caught by the outer edge of the shockwave, sent flying, and slammed hard onto the ground.

So strong!

With just one encounter, Chizuki understood that this Thunderhelm Lawachurl was on a completely different level from other Hilichurls.

With her current strength, there was no way she could deal with it.

The Thunderhelm Lawachurl began to charge its power, then leaped high into the air, aiming for Chizuki's position as it came crashing down.

Chizuki was sent flying again.

This time, the silver sword in her hand couldn't withstand such powerful, consecutive impacts, and new cracks appeared on its blade.

Chizuki gripped the hilt with her claws, planting the blade into the ground, and just barely managed to pull herself up.

This was an opponent she could not defeat.

She needed more power.

The enhancement the silver sword provided was far from enough.

Looking at her attack power, which she could no longer increase, Chizuki's heart burned with anxiety.

If only she could be a little stronger.

The Thunderhelm Lawachurl turned and saw Shimamura trembling off to the side.

Its gaze fell upon her.

Black Tiger Steals the Heart!

As the Thunderhelm Lawachurl approached Shimamura, its massive body blocked out all the moonlight in the gorge.

Shimamura stumbled backward again and again.

But behind her was already a thick stone wall.

She had no escape.

Purple lightning coated the Lawachurl's fist.

The fist swung, about to smash into Shimamura in the next second.

"Get... away from her!"

Chizuki threw her silver sword to obstruct the Thunderhelm Lawachurl's advance.

She pulled the seasoned Hunter's Bow from her pack, hooked her tail on the bowstring, and an arrow of verdant wind coalesced on the string.

When a person's wish is strong enough, the gods will cast their gaze upon them.

This arrow erupted with powerful Anemo energy, shattering the Thunderhelm Lawachurl's shield in an instant.

That night, amidst the flashes of lightning throughout Musoujin Gorge, the faint glimmer of verdant wind could also be seen.

Chizuki drew her bow and fired another arrow.

The arrow, enhanced by Anemo, now possessed even greater destructive power. Carrying Chizuki's conviction, it pierced through the Thunderhelm Lawachurl's body.

The arrow shot forth like a meteor chasing the moon, leaving only a cyan fletching in its wake.

She would use this power to protect all that was beautiful in the world.

"Boom!" The monster's enormous body slowly collapsed.

Chizuki gently unfurled her claws, and a Vision, symbolizing the power of Anemo, landed in her palm.
