Chapter 5 - The Confrontation

Nicholas closed the door to his office, his eyes locked onto Alex's. "I've been noticing some strange things, Alex," he said, his tone firm but controlled.

Alex raised an eyebrow. "What kind of things?"

Nicholas leaned against his desk, his arms crossed. "The fake files, the deleted login history... it all points to someone with access to our system. And that someone is you."

Alex's expression changed, his eyes narrowing slightly. "You're accusing me of betraying you, Nick?"

Nicholas's gaze didn't waver. "I'm saying I have reason to believe you're involved. And I want to know why."

Alex sighed, rubbing his temples. "Nick, I can explain-"

But before Alex could finish, Nicholas's phone rang. It was Rachel. "Nicholas, I've found something else," she said, her voice urgent.

Nicholas's eyes locked onto Alex's. "What is it?"

"It's a payment, Nicholas," Rachel said. "A large payment from a competitor to an account linked to Alex."

Nicholas's face hardened. "Alex, it looks like the evidence is mounting against you."

Alex's expression changed, a flash of anger crossing his face before he regained control. "Nick, I swear-"

But Nicholas wasn't listening. He picked up his phone and dialed security. "Escort Alex out of the building," he said, his voice cold.

As Alex was led away, Nicholas couldn't shake the feeling that he had just uncovered the tip of the iceberg. The betrayal went deeper than he had ever imagined...
