Minato's face fell. "I trained all week to beat you! Now I surrender? My training's wasted!"
Chiren smiled kindly. "Who gave you the scroll? The Uchiha have tons of ninjutsu. You've got fire, wind, thunder chakra, right? I'll handle the scrolls. Don't sweat it."
Minato nodded reluctantly.
"Shadow Clone Technique!"
Minato crossed his hands, puffing out one clone in white smoke.
He scratched his head. "Just learned it. Chakra control's off. Only one clone."
"Show-off blond!" Kushina cheered. "Chiren-kun, quick win! We've got lunch break!"
The fight began.
Chiren felt the pressure. His taijutsu matched Minato's, but the clone made it four hands against two.
Without his Uzumaki physique, he'd have lost.
Minato's combat IQ shone. His main body attacked head-on; the clone sneaked from behind.
Seizing a chance, Minato's real body kicked at Chiren's abdomen.
Chiren blocked reflexively, but felt restrained. The clone had circled behind, locking him in a hold.
Minato's fist loomed.
"Stop!" Chiren shouted. "Surrender!"
Minato released the clone, pouting. "Fine, I promised. I give."

Forming seals, two solid clones appeared.
"Wow, Chiren, amazing!" Kushina jumped. "Two clones! Better than blondie!"
Minato, eyeing the clones, conceded, "You're better. More clones, better control. My lifelong rival!"
Chiren rubbed his nose, feigning mystery. "Genius varies."
You geniuses practice. I copy with the system.
He schemed: Make Minato learn more ninjutsu, fight me, and I'll grow steadily!
"Minato, you've got lightning chakra, right? Try Lightning Release."
Minato hesitated. "It's complex…"
"Don't worry!" Chiren slung an arm around him. "You nailed Shadow Clone. Lightning Release: Shadow Clone's similar. Easy for a genius like you."
Future Yellow Flash, no Lightning Release? I can't just use Fire Release forever.
Minato wavered. "Lightning scrolls are pricey…"
"Hey!" Chiren waved. "With our bond, money's nothing! I'll get the scroll—for your future, brother!"
"Chiren…" Minato teared up. "I'm lucky to have you."
Chiren stifled a laugh, glancing at Kushina, thinking, Minato, Kushina's mine, and you're my experience pack.
"I'm happy today!" he declared. "After school, my treat—order anything!"
Kushina pouted. "Not today."
Thinking she didn't want Minato tagging along, he said, "More people, more fun."
"No!" Kushina clarified. "Tsunade-san's back from a mission, picking me up."
Biting her lip, she whispered, "She knows about us. Wants to meet you."
