Before we begin, I want to be honest... this story is massively inspired by one of my favorite works of fiction of all time: Shadow Slave by Guiltythree. It's a masterpiece that shaped the way I think about storytelling, worldbuilding, and the kind of atmosphere I want to create. You might notice hints of its influence throughout these chapters -- in the tone, the sense of mystery, and the way survival is never guaranteed.
