Vance, enraged by the interference, turned his full attention on Kaelen. "You've ruined everything! I'll unmake you, note by note!"
He unleashed a focused beam of pure sonic destruction. Kaelen's sound-dampening field shattered. He was thrown back, his console exploding in his face, his implants overloading in a shower of sparks. He lay still, blinded and deafened by the digital scream.
It was then that Jax arrived. He had scaled the outside of the Spire, his claws digging into the permacrete. He smashed through the viewing window, a true avenging angel of fang and fury.
"VANCE!" he bellowed.
The final battle was not between man and beast, but between two opposing visions of evolution: Vance's cold, technological supremacy against Jax's raw, primal truth.
