Chapter 13 - Chapter 13

Chapter 13

***Xavier's POV**

"Where the hell is Dorothy? I've been calling her since yesterday but she wasn't answering her phone, she is supposed to submit an important document to me today" I said, looking at Lilan.

"Well, sorry sir. But.. she's not going to be available today. She asked me to inform you" She said, her eyes on my hair.

"What do you mean by that?" I said, leaning in on her desk.

"Sir…that's.." She said but she was soon interrupted but her phone ringing. She looked between her phone and I.

"If she's the one, pick up the damn phone" I told her, as I felt my patience running thin. She looked at me and shakily answered her phone.

"Hello, Dorothy" She said and I signalled her to put the phone on speaker.

"Hello, Lilan. Please, tell Xavier that I wouldn't come in today, I have to be somewhere" Dorothy said through the phone, and I heard boxes rolling.

I took out a pen and wrote down the question I wanted to ask her and gave it to Lilan to speak.

"Erm, are you home?" She asked, reading the letter.

"Yes, but I'll leave in thirty minutes. Something wrong?" Dorothy asked, breathing heavily.

"Erh, no. Nothing just asking" Lilan said and I gave her a thumbs up and grabbed my keys and leaving going to Dorothy's house.

After driving for almost an hour and half, I finally got to her house and I saw her loading up a car.

When did she get a car?

"Dorothy!" I called out as I walked into her house, noticing the packed luggage and some few boxes.

"Who…Xavier?" She called me after she got out of her kitchen.

"Where are you going?" I asked her, as I walked closer to her. It's been a long time since after our first sex, and she's been avoiding me since then.

"None of your business" She said and moved past me, grabbing her luggage and a box that had Reyes Partnership on it.

Is she starting her own company?

"Well, you'd have to cancel your travel, because I told your Uber to go. And yes, he left your luggage out the front" I said as I grabbed her hand and pushed her to the wall, her back kissing it.

"Where are you going?" I asked her again, pressing on every word.

"The house I grew up in, that's if it hadn't been sold" She said and I could see the sadness in her eyes.

"I'll come with you, let's see your history" I told her and took the box from her and kissed her on her forehead, walking to my car.

There must be a reason why she wants to go back home, and I'm here for it.

She took her last luggage and locked her house while I put it in the trunk.

"You ready?" I asked her, standing behind her as she turned from locking her door.

"No. I still don't know your motive for following me" She said, eyeing my car like there was some kind of bomb.

"I don't know anything about you, just that you are my father's friend and I have this…how do I put it…this innate habit of curiosity" I said, smirking and giving my best smile.

"Fuck you, Xavier" She said and brushed me off.

"You already did, darling" I said and this was enough to make her stop, turn to me and looked at me with a glare.

She silently entered the passenger's seat and we drove off with her directing me at every turn.

Soon, after four hours we reached her parents house, it was kinda having this old money vibes.

I can see where she got her asthectic

We got down and I helped her with the luggage, as she inspected the place.

"Hello" She said as she knocked on the door.

"Sweetheart, I don't think the house is sold. Use your key" I told her, coming to stand behind her.

She looked at me but didn't say anything as she took her key out of her purse and tried it and the door opened.

"Oh, wow. I didn't know that would work" She said as she pushed the door open.

"Seems they paid off the mortgage" I told her and followed behind her.

We both took the bags in and was about settling in, until we realized that there wasn't any food. We both got out and went to the grocery store.

She good the food while I got some new clothes that I'd change into while we are there. After paying, we left and headed back to her house

We showered and got settled in, she cooked dinner while I arranged and opened up the boxes.

I took care of her luggage and some other stuff and I got to the Reyes Partnership box.

I wasn't so sure I wanted to open it but like I said, curious. I opened it and I was into both confusion and awe.

I stared at the photos of someone that looked a little like Dorothy and Diana's father. They knew each other?

Who the hell is Dorothy?

"What are you doing?" She said, looking at me. I turned to face her still holding the picture and she rushed to me and took it out my hand.

"Who are you?" I asked her, my eyes in slits.

"Dorothy. Any problem?" She retorted.

"Why is that man, that looks like you, and I'll presume he is your father, shaking hands with Diana's father. And what the hell is R&F LTD?" I asked her as I crossed my arms over my chest.

She stared at me, not saying anything.

"Dorothy, I need an answer" I told her, coming closer to her.

"I don't know, okay? And it is genuinely none of your business" She said and shoved past me, putting the picture back into the box.

"Really. I can figure that out for you, I can get information for you. And, it is my business because he is my father in-law" I said and I could swear I felt myself puke in my mouth.

"Huh? Oh, now he's your father in-law" She replied me tauntingly.

"Dorothy, okay. Screw what I said, okay? I want to know. Anything I can do to help, I'm sure it'll go a long way for you" I told her, coming closer to her and enveloping her in a hug.

"Fine. Okay, the introduction, okay?" She asked me, looking at me with her chin on my chest

"Okay" I told her, kissing her forehead. She led me to the parlour and sat me down on the sofa and sat opposite me with a bottle of wine in our middle.

"My dad and Diana's dad worked together, and I'm not really sure what happened but they fell out. And now I'm here to get more answers, and for some reason, my dad knew he was in danger" She told me, gulping down a mouthful of wine

"Wait, worked together? Like a textile company?" I asked her, as I remembered a time my dad usually had her father come over to our house and I would overhear their conversations.

"How'd you know that?" She said me, her expression getting serious.

"My dad and your dad were friends, remember?" I told her and took the wine bottle from her and gulped it down.

"My dad must have told him something helpful. Like something that is not in the box" She said, her forehead in a wrinkle.

"I think we need to talk to your father" She suggested, looking at me.

"I think so too. I'll call him over" I agreed and left to make the call to my dad.
