"That's the thing. I can't risk it. Not unless I get in the cage."
"We should probably do that," John said after a moment. "I can come over tomorrow. We test that theory."
"Of course… of course," Eric nodded.
"And Alpha," John added quietly, stepping closer, "I would advise that you not say anything to anyone about this. We don't want the pack to start panicking," John continued. "You know how quickly fear spreads. Let's just test the theory and go from there."
Eric inhaled slowly, visibly forcing himself back into the composure expected of him. "Yes," he said. "You're right. Thank you, John," Eric said after a moment, the tension in his shoulders easing just slightly. "Please, apologize to Ashley on my behalf. I…I just needed your wisdom. I can't seem to use my head these days."
"I understand totally," John replied gently. "And you can wake us at any time."
"I will try to make sure it doesn't happen again," he said.
