EPISODE 6
Mr Kamen ascends the stairs.
Mr Kamen: (Indifferent) Are you the new babysitter?
Rachav: Hm? Yes, sir — I mean, yes.
Mr Kamen: You neglected my order?
Rachav: Neglected? Sir?
Mr Kamen: (Glaring composedly at Tiberius) Were you not banned from it?
Tiberius: (Scared) {Did he find out what we were watching? But how?}
Assistant Kuznetsov: Sir, a call from the office.
Mr Kamen: Mm. Prepare dinner.
Head Butler: Yes, sir.
Rachav: (To Tiberius) Dinner time, dear.
Mr Kamen: As for you—
Rachav: Me? I mean— (lowers head) Yes, Mr Kamen…
Mr Kamen: You are dismissed. (Going up) Permanently.
Rachav: Sorry?
Tiberius: {No!} Papa! She is a genuine one!
Assistant Butler: Young Master, time to prepare for dinner.
Tiberius: But—
Noticing the unmoved attitude of his father, he stops convincing.
Rachav: {How…?}
A Guard: Miss, please, this way.
Rachav Rai gazes at Tiberius, who, despite his unworried demeanour, wears a veil of gloom.
Rachav: (Sighs) Very well then.
A few days later, in Rachav Rai's apartment — she sits on her couch, phone in hand.
Reverend Zadkiel: So you literally got fired on the fifth day of the job? What could you possibly have done?
Rachav: I do not know, Ex-Dorm Mother. I ensured I behaved with utmost competence. 😔
Reverend Ramiel: If so, then why did he discharge you?
Reverend Zadkiel: (Gradually becoming enraged while adjusting her sleeve) Is he trying to showcase his authority? 'Cause I ain't gonna—!
Reverend Ramiel: Sister Zadkiel.
Reverend Zadkiel: I'm calm 😤. May peace reign forever 🙏 Amen.
A Nun: (Walking by) Amen.
Reverend Ramiel: You must have made a mistake unknowingly, dear.
Rachav: (Heaves a sigh) It seems so.
Reverend Zadkiel: Have you told Mother Superior about this yet?
Rachav: No! Please don't! She'll scold my skull right out 😖.
A Reverend Sister: Dear sisters, you are needed.
Reverend Zadkiel: Alright, we're coming.
Reverend Zadkiel leaves.
Reverend Ramiel: I must end the call now, my dear.
Rachav: Oh…
Reverend Ramiel: But before I go, allow me to advise you on something.
Rachav: What is it, Dorm Mother?
Reverend Ramiel: You're out in the world now, Rai. Be cautious of your light-heartedness — and your righteousness too.
Rachav: What do you mean?
Reverend Ramiel: The Earth is pure, but the world is corrupt.
Rachav: You and your sayings again… 😅
Reverend Ramiel: Some might feel intimidated by your presence, so keep a low profile.
Rachav: (Sits up) As in how?
Reverend Ramiel: But never, ever forget your origin. Alright?
Rachav: Dorm Mother, you're speaking in riddles again…
Reverend Ramiel: (Smiles) I really must go now. Farewell.
Beep-beep.
Days later at THCs…
Centre Manager: You seem rather interested in your former client's matters, aren't you?
Rachav: 😅
Centre Manager: I do not know much about him, but from what I've heard — about three years ago, after his unexpected therapy, the news of his missing wife was broadcast.
Rachav: Missing wife?
Centre Manager: It was said that she cheated on him. Mr Vajezatha Kamen was not as wealthy or influential as he is now. He and his son were known as "the jolly elves." But after she left, everything changed.
Rachav: {That would explain Tiberius's strange attitude the first time we met.} Was his son ever rumoured to have withdrawn after his mother disappeared?
Centre Manager: Seemed so, but I am not entirely sure.
(Noticing Rachav Rai's thoughtful face)
Centre Manager: All right, enough now. You're no longer employed there, so don't trouble yourself about them.
Rachav: 😔 Oh. {That's true.}
At the Empire Territory — inside Mr Kamen's home office.
Mr Kamen: (To a staff) …Just cancel our offer with them.
Staff: Yes, sir. (Leaves.)
The composed Mr Kamen, weary, places his radix on his fingers and closes his eyes.
Mr Kamen: (Recollects) {That reminds me.} Kuznetsov, what about Miss Rachav Rai — the one from the convent?
Assistant Kuznetsov: Sir, you mean the one you fired two weeks and a few days ago?
Mr Kamen: Fired?
