~ALISON'S POV
My brows creased into a frown.
"Put me down." I demanded.
He stopped walking and looked down at me but I looked the other way and gosh that hurt my neck.
"Fine." He let me go and I fell to the ground.
Pain coursed through my butt and I grunted in frustration. I rubbed my butt to try to soothe the pain. My head shot up, my lips were elongated in a pout and my frown had deepened.
"What was that for?" I snapped.
He shrugged nonchalantly. "You said to drop you."
I blinked rapidly in surprise. "Are you sick in the head?"
He looked down at me with a lop sided smirk. "Deal with it." Then he sighed deeply and slid his hands in his pocket, "besides you should be nicer to me, I just saved you from those bullies."
I stood up, the frown not leaving my face. "You only gave them more reason to be nasty towards me."
He bent slightly and leaned into me that his face was only inches from mine, I had to move back a bit to avoid him. "Did I really do that?" He asked with an oblivious tone which was so fake.
I rolled my eyes at him, ignored him and concerned myself with dusting my behind. Then my stomach rumbled once again.
My shoulders slouched. My eyes darted to him stylishly but he caught me. Gosh! I was tempted to wipe that smirk from the side of his lips but I had to refrain myself.
"You should just ask politely and I'll help." He said arrogantly, his lips stretched in a smile.
People like him didn't have to worry about anything because they had everything.
I cleared my throat, my cheeks burning because I had been caught. But I wasn't going to act pitifully.
"You've been smiling a lot at me and jeez I don't want to be deluded that we might actually be friends." I remarked dryly.
My eyes darted around and just like I expected, there were stares.
"I suggest you stay away from me or you'll be bullied and hated as well." That came from a place of hurt and in that moment, my mind wandered back to Eden.
He would have had it a lot easier and would have been a lot happier. My heart ached every time I thought of him.
I missed him.
"That's in no way related to what I had just told you." He responded flatly. Then he scoffed and folded his hands over his chest. "Besides, I'm a billionaire. Who'd bully a billionaire?"
A loud gurgle humming sound came again from my stomach but this time it was a lot louder that we got stares from the students that were walking by.
"This won't do." He muttered. I didn't get the chance to think when his palm wrapped around my wrist.
"Wait." I tried to protest but he didn't listen.
He led me to his black Ferrari. He opened the sleek door and forced my head into it. As soon as I got in, a scent of cold and refreshing yet manly fragrance filled my nostrils. It was sheer wealth and opulence and it made me wonder just how wealthy his family was.
He got in and turned to me, excitement dancing in his eyes. "Seatbelt."
I think I felt my heart do a back flip. Spending time with him was doing something to me.
"Oh!" I exclaimed and pulled it, crossing it over my chest and clicking it lock where it should be.
He turned the key and the engine roared to life with a low, throaty growl, vibrating through the air. As it revved, the sound swelled to a deafening crescendo, punctuated by burbling exhaust notes. With a sudden burst of speed, the Ferrari launched forward, its tires scorching the pavement, creating a maelstrom of noise that consumed everything in its path. The engine shrieked as the car accelerated.
I clutched onto the seatbelt as fear gripped me. I felt my knuckles turn white whilst my heart thrummed hard against my chest.
Finally the car came to an abrupt halt next to a decent restaurant.
"I'll order something for you or would you like to go in?" He suggested.
I looked at him, unable to speak as my body still spasmed with shock. I had never been more afraid.
"Are you... trying to kill me?" Were the the first words I was able to make.
He stopped and then threw his head back laughing. A frown formed on my face.
"It's not funny." I dead panned and that shut him up.
He got down, ran over to my side and stretched his hand out to me but I didn't take it and helped myself out instead.
He led me into the restaurant which was cozy on the inside. We occupied an empty booth at one corner of the restaurant close to the door. I sat opposite him to get a good view of the street.
"I'll be back."
I simply nodded.
A few minutes later he was back with two trays of french fries and chips accompanied with a soft drink.
He placed my tray in front of me and I could already feel my mouth start to water.
"Go ahead and dig in." He said with an amused light chuckle.
I stared at the plate before me.
Was it better to ask the question that sat on my mind or eat first and ask later?
The grumble of my stomach told me the answer to the question.
"Thank you." I muttered and dug in.
I was done a few minutes later and finally I felt stuffed and a lot better.
I relaxed into my seat.
"What's in it for you?" I asked, eyes narrowed in suspicion.
He scoffed. "You should have asked this before you stuffed it down."
"I'm sure you don't have a friendship so tell me." I crossed my hand over my chest and waited for his response.
"You sure have trust issues."
I closed my eyes and inhaled sharply. I opened my mouth to speak but my eyes darted to the glass where his back reflected and...
Eden?
The reflection in the glass was still, its red eyes focused on Daven. My pulse faltered. That hair, that torn shirt… blood, the big gash on his shoulder blade. My breath caught — it was Eden.
My eyes slowly grew wide and tears began to sting their corners.
I saw him for the first time in three months.
I wasn't hallucinating. It was Eden but...
My eyes slowly trailed to Daven.
What was Eden doing hovering around Daven?
