Chapter 29 - Chapter 29. The birth of Abomination city fortress

A few hours later, after stashing the Chimaera GZX in a massive underground hangar and observing the technicians repairing it, Calvin brought Cole, Celes, Calista, Cyrus, and Charlotte to his home along with Layla. Calvin's house turned out to be a penthouse in the tallest building in the entire city, owned by homonculus.corp, located in the business sector. It was incredibly spacious, encompassing three and a half stories like a separate structure on the building's rooftop.

"Whoaah... this is your place, Calvin?" Cole asked the moment he stepped inside Calvin's luxurious penthouse.

"Yep, think of it as your own home, because starting today, you'll be living here with me and Layla," Calvin replied.

Layla showed them all their large, luxurious rooms, complete with full furnishings and pre-arranged clothes. After that, they all gathered in the expansive living room, sitting on sofas around a coffee table. As he had promised, Calvin talked to Layla about how everything he had told her was a lie, then formally introduced his siblings from the orphanage to Layla.

"So... Uncle Cole didn't cheat with Mama Char?" Layla asked.

"N-no, I said that so you would remember them... I'm sorry, Layla," Calvin stammered.

"Ugh... Papa, seriously! I was just complaining to Mom about her leaving me when I was little, and Uncle Cyrus even saw it! I'm so embarrassed, you know!" Layla said, frustrated.

"Sorry, I'd lost them for so long... so I made up a story that kept them alive... even if they were hated... so please forgive me," Calvin said resignedly.

"Haaah... alright, as long as you've explained it. So Layla doesn't misunderstand me and Cole," Charlotte said, holding Calvin's and Layla's hands, who were sitting on either side of her.

"Yes, Mom, but where have you been all this time?" Layla asked.

A confused Charlotte looked at Calvin, who nodded. Then Calvin looked at Cole, Celes, Calista, and Cyrus, who all nodded in agreement. Calvin looked at Layla seriously.

"I'm going to tell you everything. Who the six of us really are," Calvin answered.

Calvin told her everything, though he avoided the issue of the timeline and slightly twisted the story to make Layla believe that she really was born to Charlotte before they were separated. While Calvin was telling the story, Cyrus leaned in close to Cole.

"Big Brother Calvin must watch D-tube a lot like me. It's a great story," Cyrus whispered.

"I'm genuinely confused about how you understand a story like that when you grew up inside the Chimaera GZX all alone," Cole whispered back.

"I can't believe our story could be dramatized like that," Calista whispered.

"Same here. Calvin's mouth is terrifying; he can lie that smoothly," Celes added in a whisper.

"It's Calvin, after all. He's always been trouble," Cole whispered back.

"No wonder he's this rich... Big Brother Calvin's mouth is amazing, the power of drama, hehe," Cyrus added in a whisper.

When Calvin finished his story, Layla immediately fell silent. She bowed her head and held Charlotte's hand next to her.

"So that's your story, Papa and Mama. I didn't know at all... I was so angry at Mom all this time... but it turns out I was wrong," Layla said softly.

"It's okay. Come here," Charlotte said.

They immediately hugged. Calvin looked at Cole, Celes, Calista, and Cyrus proudly, but Cole, Celes, Calista, and Cyrus shook their heads and did not smile at all, even though they understood Calvin's reason for lying, which was not to hurt Layla with the truth that she was born in a tube, not from Charlotte's womb. After that, Layla invited Charlotte to her room because they had a lot to talk about and said goodbye to Cole, Celes, Calista, and Cyrus. Then,

"Okay, tomorrow, how about we go to Mama Marion's hiding spot? I have a lot of stuff I need to pick up there," Calista said.

"Huh... what?" Calvin asked, suddenly serious and pale.

Cole, Celes, and Cyrus turned to see Calvin looking slightly pale and immediately questioned him.

"What is it, Cal?" Cole asked.

"Yeah, why are you pale hearing Mama Marion's name?" Celes asked.

"You guys... never go to Mama Marion's hiding spot," Calvin answered.

"Why not?" Calista asked, confused.

"Yeah, Big Brother, what's there that makes you so pale?" Cyrus asked.

"You don't know who that woman named Marion really is. Like I told you, ten years ago I went there and saw our orphanage, then I went to Marion's hiding spot—that abandoned villa in the green valley inside the mountain. I found something there I shouldn't have seen," Calvin answered.

Cole, Celes, Calista, and Cyrus turned to look at each other. They also suddenly became serious and looked at Calvin in front of them.

"Tell us everything, Cal, but don't hold anything back or twist the story," Cole said.

Calvin immediately told them that when he was there, he found a passage to a basement, and there was a gate in the middle of the room with many machines surrounding it. Curious, Calvin turned on the machines, and a portal appeared in the middle of the gate. Suddenly, a swarm of draugr wearing armor and looking like soldiers emerged from inside the gate, surrounding Calvin.

They took Calvin inside the gate. When he came out, Calvin was startled because he saw the Earth in front of him, and it turned out he was on the moon. Then the draugr soldiers took Calvin to a palace that turned out to be the draugr leader's palace or kingdom. And when he entered the throne room, Calvin's eyes widened because he saw Marion sitting on the throne.

"Wh-what? Is that true?" Cole asked, standing up, clear confusion and a sense of betrayal visible on his face.

"Yes, after that I was imprisoned, but I managed to escape... I powered up there and remembered everything, then with my new power, I ran away. When I came back through the portal, I destroyed the portal and the villa along with it," Calvin answered.

"Oh... so you're the one who destroyed that villa. No wonder it was a mess when I went there," Calista said, thinking aloud.

"But wasn't the draugr base in the huge hole on the ice continent that the GDA commander showed us?" Celes asked.

"That was just their production den... their real kingdom is up there," Calvin said, pointing to the ceiling, referring to the red moon that never moved and always followed the sun, causing perpetual darkness.

Cole sat back down and fell silent, as did Celes, Calista, Cyrus, and Calvin. Then Calvin broke the silence.

"My reason for saying that the six of us and this city are alone in this world is because of this: there's no one out there we can trust. I only found out after speaking with that woman up there that the Chimaera project was her idea, aimed at weakening humanity and creating a new species that they could control... using our music," Calvin said.

"So that's it," Calista muttered.

"And that woman also said she entrusted one of you to her scientist colleague to be used as a research subject in the capital," Calvin said.

"That sounds like... me. I remember Marion being the one who took me away, separating me from Cole, before I passed out," Celes said, hugging herself and trembling.

"But it was also from her that I learned you were all still alive, just scattered. That's why I started devoting everything to building this city over the last ten years," Calvin said.

"Alright, I understand... Calvin, what percentage is this city development project at, based on the blueprint you showed us?" Cole asked.

"About 80%. Why?" Calvin asked.

"Okay, until the project is finished, we defend. After that, we leave. We'll destroy all of them, and we'll make this city the beginning of everything after they're extinct," Cole answered.

Celes, Calista, Cyrus, and Calvin were silent, listening to Cole's words, but then they smiled and looked at each other.

"Okay, agreed, I'm totally in, but what's your reason for wanting to destroy all of them?" Calvin asked with excitement.

"Like you said, we're on our own. I was still holding onto Marion for a long time, the one who raised us from when we were little, but it turns out she's the Queen of the draugr, who clearly intends to control us by having us sing that song, and humanity... they just made us tools for their wars and their own gain. We've been miserable all this time, separated and treated like trash. We'll show them we are not to be underestimated. After they're destroyed, we can finally live in peace and quiet," Cole said with venom.

"True, we can't keep playing defense and running. We have to start attacking and show our fangs," Calista added enthusiastically.

"Perfect. We'll build our own empire, uninfluenced by anyone," Celes added enthusiastically.

"Finally... it's time to fight. I'm getting pumped," Cyrus said enthusiastically.

Calvin stood up and walked to the bar to grab drinks so they could all toast. Then, after he returned,

"Cheers,"

"Trak,"

They clinked their glasses in the center and drank. After that, they started making plans.

"Speaking of which, what's the name of this city?" Cyrus asked.

"It doesn't have a name... but the people who come here often call this city the Abomination because it's inhabited by humans and draugr who live in peace," Calvin answered.

"Okay, starting today, the name of this city is Abomination City," Cole said.

"Sweet," the others replied in agreement, giving him a thumbs-up and smiling

After that, starting from this day forward, their city would be known to the world as The Abomination City Flying Fortress, and the war to determine the fate and future of the world began.
