"Bored to death, aren't you?"
On the other side, the koukaku ghoul who heard this looked completely disdainful.
In his eyes, human investigators were nothing but spineless worms.
When facing death, they would all kneel and beg for mercy, abandoning their dignity entirely.
At times like this, what he enjoyed most was tormenting them—torturing them to death.
That brought him satisfaction, even more pleasurable than masturbation!
And right now, in his eyes, Hayashi was no different from those cowardly investigators.
On top of that, this pale, delicate pretty boy probably hadn't even fought a ghoul seriously before.
Just the thought made the koukaku ghoul feel a wave of excitement.
"My favorite thing to do is rip you arrogant investigators apart — tear you all to pieces, kill you, and then shred you again!"
"As for you, I don't know if you're bored, but I do know one thing—you're about to die!"
The moment the words fell, his scarlet kagune, brimming with killing intent, shot forward.
"Hayashi, watch out!"
The eyes of Kurona and Nashiro lit up with worry.
"Interesting…"
Nearby, the pink-haired beauty, Ilhei, watched with growing amusement, clearly entertained.
"This koukaku ghoul looks like an A-Rank."
"Not the strongest rank, but still troublesome."
Akira bit her red lips lightly, her brows furrowing as she thought.
She was eager to see just how strong Hayashi really was, and what level he had reached.
As for Suzuya, no one even knew where he'd wandered off to — his figure was nowhere in sight.
Facing the deadly strike charged with murderous intent, Hayashi merely took a single step back and slipped past the attack effortlessly.
"He dodged?"
The koukaku ghoul blinked in disbelief, as if what had happened was impossible.
But then he quickly convinced himself it was nothing but luck, a fluke.
"Stop dodging already! Just die obediently!"
"If I kill you, Yamori will definitely reward me!"
"Yes, with Ayato and Yamori backing me, I'll surely rise to the rank of an executive!"
The thought made his eyes gleam with excitement.
As visions of his glorious rise played in his head, he launched himself forward in a frenzied pounce.
"Yamori?"
Hearing that name, Hayashi froze for a moment.
It was only then that he noticed — the man before him not only dressed like Jason, but even his hairstyle and brutish personality were nearly identical.
The resemblance was almost comical.
So this guy was Yamori's lackey? What a coincidence.
"Die, die, die!!"
"An executive! I'll become an executive! I'll reach the top!"
The koukaku ghoul cackled, his crimson ghoul eyes gleaming with madness and bloodlust.
"Oh?"
Hayashi placed his hand on the hilt of the Thousand Demon Daggers at his waist, his gaze carrying a hint of amusement.
"Rip me apart? Kill me?"
Crack!
In an instant, the koukaku ghoul's arms and legs were severed midair.
Hot blood spurted out, splattering the ground around them.
"What… what just happened?"
"My hands—my legs! The pain, it hurts so much!"
Staring at his severed limbs in shock, he soon let out a howl of agony.
"You? Against me?"
Hayashi pressed his foot on the ghoul's head, his eyes gleaming with cruel curiosity.
"A mere human—you dare… you dare treat me like this?!"
As his wounds began regenerating, the koukaku ghoul roared through the pain, baring his fangs.
"Is that so?"
Hayashi sighed as if disappointed.
The next second, the Thousand Demon Daggers shattered into thousands of fragments.
"What are you doing?"
Looking up at the countless hovering shards above him, the koukaku ghoul felt a wave of dread.
An instant later, the blades rained down, piercing his body through and through.
The searing pain wrung a blood-curdling scream from his throat.
His already mutilated body was now riddled with countless holes, his life force ebbing away until he looked on the verge of death.
"Please… spare me…"
At that moment, perhaps survival instinct overrode all pride.
He begged weakly, his voice trembling as his aura waned.
If he could just buy a second of carelessness, he might get a chance to strike back.
That thought only made his pleas sound even more desperate, more pitiful.
"If you let me live, I can—"
Slice!
Before he could finish, his head slipped from his shoulders, a clean, smooth cut spraying blood across the floor.
"The only thing I can do for you… is send you to meet your big brother in the same way."
"I'm sure Jason will be happy to see you down there."
Hayashi thought as he sheathed the sword.
"Hayashi, are you alright?"
Kurona and Nashiro rushed over, frantically checking him for injuries.
"It's over?"
Akira let out a long breath of relief.
"I'm becoming more and more intrigued by you, Hayashi…"
Ilhei's eyes gleamed with delight, as though she had just been thoroughly entertained.
The surrounding Aogiri Tree members, however, were left dumbfounded.
Despite their numbers, not a single one dared to move closer.
"What's wrong with you all?"
"They're just a few Doves, and you're scared stiff? Pathetic."
At that moment, a figure leapt down from the rooftop.
He wore a black hooded coat, a half-face mask, and his short hair glimmered a striking shade of bluish-purple.
His expression was cold, his eyes sharp and detached, his entire presence radiating arrogance.
"You finally showed up?"
Hayashi raised his head casually at the familiar voice.
Standing before him was none other than one of Aogiri Tree's executives—
Touka's younger brother, Ayato Kirishima.
"You think I'd ignore chaos on my turf?"
Perched on a lamppost, Ayato's eyes were icy, brimming with murderous intent.
"I don't care who you are, or whether you know me."
"Because today… is the day you die, you damned Dove."
And just as those words fell, the voice of the system echoed in Hayashi's mind.
[You have triggered a Time-Limited Mission: Teach the Brother-in-Law a Lesson]
[Objective: Put the arrogant Ayato in his place, and show him who's boss.]
[Reward: One random Talisman]
"Is that so?"
Hearing the system's prompt, Hayashi stretched his neck casually.
Looks like, as the older brother, it was his job to teach this brother-in-law a proper lesson.
