Chapter 35 - Chapter 35

During the guild's celebration banquet, Kael and Laxus were suddenly called back by Master Makarov.

Apparently, the old man wanted everyone together before they continued their repair work.

The S-Class Wizard trials had finally come to an end.

According to the results announced by Kael and Laxus, the Fairy Tail Guild had gained two new S-Class Wizards.

"Mirajane Strauss."

"Erza Scarlet."

Cheers filled the hall.

The next morning, once the celebration was over, Master Makarov led everyone back to the guild—leaving only Kael and Laxus behind on Tenrou Island to repair the damage.

"Whew~ Finally got most of it done. Good thing I learned some Earth magic beforehand," Kael said, wiping imaginary sweat from his forehead.

He smiled faintly, satisfied with his handiwork.

The ground before him—once completely torn apart—was now leveled and reshaped through magic. Where the terrain difference had been too large, he had molded it into gentle slopes. It looked much better than before, even if it wasn't perfect.

"Alright, Laxus! You done over there?" Kael floated up and flew toward him. He found Laxus holding a massive boulder—about the size of a truck—and dropping it neatly into one of the larger craters.

Boom!

The ground trembled with the impact.

Laxus glanced up at Kael, then down at the unfinished patch below—clearly signaling for Kael to handle it.

"Yeah, yeah, I got it."

Kael descended, clapped his hands, and released a pulse of golden light.

Crack—crackle.

The broken ground smoothed out instantly.

"Alright, done! We should get going—Master's probably waiting," Kael said, brushing the dust off his hands. He looked toward the distant forest where Makarov's magic presence lingered, then placed his hand on Laxus's shoulder. A golden magic circle flared beneath them, and the two vanished in a blink of light.

Tenrou Island — The Tomb of the First Guild Master, Mavis Vermillion

"You're here," Makarov said softly, standing before a beautifully carved stone grave. His expression was heavy with reverence.

"Come forward. Pay your respects to the First."

Kael and Laxus stepped up solemnly, closing their eyes in silent prayer. Both could feel the weight of the moment—the history of Fairy Tail itself resting here.

When they opened their eyes again, Makarov turned toward them.

"I brought you two here because there's a magic I want to teach you."

He paused for a moment, letting the sea breeze sweep across the clearing.

"You still remember what I told you before, right? Magic is born from the flow of your own energy combined with the forces of nature… and only when you pour your soul into it does true magic form. Magic itself isn't a miracle—but love can create miracles."

"Love comes in many forms—friendship, romance, family… and the guild," he said, looking at them both with fatherly warmth.

"The guild is a family. Each of you is an irreplaceable child to me.

As long as I live, I swear on my life that I won't let any harm come to you. That's a parent's duty."

Makarov's voice softened. "But… I'm growing old. The next generation—the great trees of Fairy Tail—are already growing strong. The future of this family will soon rest in your hands. This magic will help you protect them—to safeguard your family, no matter what comes."

He looked to the horizon, eyes glinting with quiet faith. "The path ahead will be difficult… but as long as you have your family beside you, I believe you'll walk toward a brilliant future."

"G-Grandpa…" Laxus's voice caught in his throat.

Something deep inside his chest stung—a wave of emotions he couldn't name. His eyes grew red, his jaw tightening as he looked at Makarov with unguarded affection.

"Haha! Laxus, it's been a long time since I've seen that face of yours," Makarov laughed heartily, a spark of joy softening the mood.

"Tch… you talk too much, old man." Laxus quickly turned away, his ears slightly red.

"Pfft." Kael couldn't help but snicker behind his hand.

Just like that, the heavy air lifted—but Makarov's words had already taken root deep within their hearts.

"The magic I'm about to teach you…"

He paused again.

"…is one of the Three Great Fairy Magics—created by the First Master herself, Mavis Vermillion."

"Fairy Law."

"This sacred light hunts down darkness, erasing only those the caster deems an enemy. It can only be learned by members of Fairy Tail."

"An ultimate spell…" Laxus muttered, frowning slightly. "The Three Great Fairy Magics?"

Kael didn't speak—but in his heart, he already knew what the other two were.

Fairy Glitter, a devastating light-attack spell that gathers the brilliance of sun, moon, and stars into one final, divine judgment.

Fairy Sphere, a defensive spell that merges the guild's collective will and magic into an unbreakable shield.

He couldn't reveal his knowledge, though, so he only pretended to share Laxus's confusion.

"This is a legendary super-magic," Makarov continued. "It holds absolute power. The other two… even I don't fully understand. Only the First Master ever knew their true nature."

Regret tinged his words, but his tone stayed firm.

"Now—watch closely. I'll show you how Fairy Law works."

He brought his hands together slowly.

A golden light blossomed between his palms, warm and radiant.

Kael and Laxus felt its energy wash over them—gentle, comforting, alive.

Kael's eyes widened slightly. This warmth… this flow of light…

Combining Makarov's explanation with his own affinity for the light element, Kael suddenly understood.

"Master… I think I've already learned it."

"Huh?" Makarov blinked, as did Laxus. Both stared at Kael, clearly thinking they must have misheard.

But Kael didn't hesitate.

Just like Makarov, he brought his hands together—and brilliant light surged between them.

The surrounding light elements reacted instantly, rushing toward him like a golden tide. The glow enveloped Kael entirely, radiating across the clearing in waves of pure, sacred energy.

Makarov and Laxus could only gape in stunned silence.

"So dense… such pure light energy…" Makarov whispered. His expression softened into a proud smile. This child… truly gifted.

Deep beneath the earth, within the tomb, the First Master Mavis stirred. The immense magic had roused her from her slumber.

Bathed in Kael's light, her spirit opened its eyes.

So that's him… the one who carries light so vividly…

Through the bond of Fairy Law, her consciousness briefly reached into Kael's mind.

Kael's eyes snapped open—startled.

The light around his hands slowly faded as the spell dispersed.

But in that fleeting contact, Mavis had imparted something more—knowledge of the other two Fairy Magics.

Makarov, unaware of what had just occurred, simply smiled.

So it seems this boy really is a prodigy…

Out loud, he said gently, "Hmm, looks like it didn't fully trigger. Keep practicing—you're close. You've already taken your first step."

Kael nodded. "Yes, Master."

For the next several days, the three of them remained on Tenrou Island, training quietly. Kael said nothing about Mavis's visit—she had asked him not to. She was only awake for a brief moment, she said, before returning to her slumber.

Back at Fairy Tail Guild

The usual chaos filled the guild hall—laughter, shouting, the clinking of mugs.

At the bar, Makarov's thought projection sat dozing, bubbles rising from his nose as he snored. The real Makarov's consciousness was still on Tenrou Island, but his memory-construct kept the guild lively.

Tap, tap, tap.

The sound of polished shoes echoed against the wooden floor.

The laughter faded as everyone turned to see who it was.

A man in official Council robes entered, flanked by several assistants. He adjusted his glasses and spoke in a measured tone:

"Is Kael here? I have a document that must be delivered."

He unfastened a scroll from his belt and held it up, the guild's chatter falling silent around him.
