Chapter 11 - The Tragedy of The Red Keep

(Vaelor's POV)

"Vaelor." Aemon walked up to me, "Have you seen Lady Ellyn?"

I was standing next to Baelon, "Not today." I shook my head, "Why do you ask?"

We were in Baelon's chambers; he had called me over, telling me that Aemon was looking for me. I had gotten here the moment I could, thinking of what my eldest brother would want at this hour.

"Everyone is searching for her." Aemon told me, "She was not seen this morning."

I frowned, "What do you mean?" I asked, "Does she not have guards outside her chambers? What do you mean? She's missing????"

Baelon looked at me, "The timing is quite odd, don't you think?" He said with a serious expression, "Especially with what you told her uncle."

"That is true." I nodded, "We ought to find Ser Mace. Right now! We interrogate him thoroughly!"

Aemon raised his hand, "Stay calm." He told me, "We need to find out what is going on before you start thinking rashly."

"Aemon is right." Baelon said, "We need to get more information on the matter before we start pointing fingers. But make no mistake, we will get to the bottom of this."

I scowled, "This is my betrothed we are speaking about." I said seriously, "What kind of Prince do you take me for? Would you allow anyone to lay a finger on your wives, brothers?!"

"Vaelor, relax." He told me, "We need to stay calm before we make any moves, do you understand. Maybe she went for a walk without anyone else realizing it. Let us go and search for her, brother. We'll help you."

"Yea, let's do that." Baelon nodded

I clenched my fists, "Just what I needed!!" I said as I made my way to the door, "For something like this to happen!"

"Vaelor....?" Daella called out for me

I was walking down the hallway in a rush, a serious scowl on my face, when Daella appeared around the corner.

I stopped and looked at her, "Sister." I said, "Did you need something?"

Seeing her face calmed me down. I was already heated about what was going on, my mind going to dark places when considering what is happening. My betrothed was missing, and I had the worst feeling that Ser Mace had something to do with it. I wanted to go and question the fucking shithead, but I couldn't find him anywhere.

And now that Daella called out for me, all of that anger suddenly disappeared. Her voice immediately soothed me, and my nerves were quelled. I didn't know why this was the case, but I felt at ease with her.

"What is going on?" She asked softly, walking up to me, "You look angry....."

I looked around, "Have you seen Lady Ellyn?" I asked calmly, "Apparently, she has not been seen all morning and people are searching for her. Her brother and Father have their men scouring the Keep and the City, with no sign of her."

"Oh." She said before shaking her head, "No, I have not seen her. Did something happen?"

"I pray to the gods that nothing happened." I said, "She has been acting strange as of late. I really don't want anything to happen to her."

"She is a kind woman." Daella gave me a slight smile, "B-Brother....will we speak on what happened....I....I know it is not appropriate....so....perhaps...at a later time."

I blinked, "Oh." I said, not knowing how to respond to that, "W-Well.....perhaps.....at a later time, like you said. Daella, I need to find Lady Elly, alright? I don't want to be rude to you, but I have to go."

She grabbed my hand, "Vaelor...." She said, "I will pray for her safety, I swear it. I wish I could help....but.....I am weak....and stupid...."

"You're not stupid." I said, "Don't say that."

She nodded, "Right....."

I patted her cheek, "I have to go." I said, "I promise we will speak about what happened."

"I am sorry.....for bothering you with this...." She said softly, "I really am...."

"Don't worry." I said as I pulled away, "When Lady Ellyn is found and safe, we will have all the time to speak about things, alright?"

************

I walked over to a group of servants who guards were pushing away, some of them were murmuring amongst themselves. They had shocked and scared expressions on their faces. It was quite strange, I could feel a very strong sense of dread as I approached.

"Stay way!" one of the guards say, "Clear the area! Now!!"

"Gods...." a servant woman said, "What happened.....?"

"What is the meaning of this?" I asked as I approached

The moment the group saw me, they stepped away, their gazes going straight down. One of the guards stopped, his face going pale as he looked at me.

"My Prince...." He said softly, "I don't think you should-"

"Vaelor!" I heard Baelon as he grabbed my shoulder, "Don't...."

"Don't what?" I said as Baelon pulled me to the side, "What are you talking about?"

He looked at me with a serious expression, "Let us handle this." He told me seriously, "Vaelor, you don't have to see this."

"All of you, leave." Aemon said as he walked past Baelon and I, "There is nothing to see. Stay within your chambers and place of work. Guards, close all exits, I want the entire Keep locked down. Nobody enters or leaves."

I pushed Baelon out of the way, "What is going on?!"

"Vaelor, no!" Baelon exclaimed

I walked past the guard who was blocking the view, widening my eyes when I saw that Lady Ellyn was lying on the ground, her face covered in blood as a knife wound was in her chest. I noticed that she also had some cuts on her cheeks, the source of the blood.

My heart began to beat rapidly as my body trembled, "L-Lady Ellyn....?"

I felt Aemon's hand pulling me to the side, "Dammit, Vaelor!"

I pushed him away, "Fuck off!" I said as rage began to fill my body, "Get your hands off me!! Who did this?! I want whoever is responsible!!"

"NOW!!!!"
