Chapter 10 - Chapter 8.

(Orion Ligh)

Yesterday was different in more ways than just one; first, I broke down in front of Colton, and then he went all possessive on me, making me feel things I didn't want to, not again. It feels like he's going to break through it, I'm not ready yet, and I don't even know if I'm ever going to be able to let anyone in but, argh! This is all his fault, I was just doing fine on my own.

Today is his day to lead into his research. He's not even awake yet. I wonder what made him tired, he didn't do anything yesterday aside from tailing me and the manager, he was quiet which I doubt is like him at all. I should wake him up.

"Hey, Colton, are you awake yet..." I don't get to finish my question as the door is suddenly flung open from the other side. He stands there clad only in a towel, fresh from the shower. His hair is damp and tousled, presenting an innocent look, while his well-toned abs glisten with remnants of water. A droplet trails down from his hair, gliding along his v-shaped abdomen before vanishing into the towel. I glance up, locking eyes with him, feeling a rush of emotion at that moment. He just smirks and steps out of the way as if to usher me into the room.

" Are you not going to step in?" He questions after I hesitate to enter, " I don't bite." He adds. His deep voice sends a shiver down my spine coupled with the look he's giving me. I can feel my whole body hitting up. Why is it getting hot when it's morning I question myself.

"Hey, are you okay?" His voice is low and smooth, almost a whisper, as he steps closer, his towering frame overshadowing mine. I feel a wave of heat wash over me as he raises his hand and gently places it on my forehead. The moment his skin makes contact with mine, I sense that familiar warmth radiating from him—this is the third time I've felt it, my body goes stiff and I feel a shiver going down my spine. He must notice it, too, he stares at my eyes, searching for any signs of distress. His blue frosty eyes seem to pierce through to my soul, my heart starts racing, thudding hard against my ribcage. I wish he couldn't hear the frantic rhythm echoing in my chest.

Everything around us fades to a blur; I can't hear a single word he's saying—his voice becomes a distant murmur drowned out. He takes another step closer, and I can see his Adam's apple bobbing slightly as he swallows hard. I feel suffocated by the closeness, the intensity of the moment overwhelming me. Without saying anything I break from his contact and head to my room shutting it behind me.

As we are walking down the recreational area, Colton keeps throwing glances at me, we haven't talked about what happened this morning yet or done any talking at all. I don't think I can save my face at all. He just keeps smiling like a teenager. Anytime we pass through something he likes he questions the manager about it. It's as if he's trying to impress the manager with his knowledge. Scoffing I mutter, know it all under my breath. He seems to hear me but his smile just widens, creepy.

We are then led to the sports center. Forget a know-it-all, he seems like a different person. He disappears with the manager into the basketball court. Walking into the entrance of the court I accidentally bump into a 'Chad'. He just looks at me as if I'm a pest or a weed, not the slightly good one, and sneers at me as if am disgusting.

"Who the fuck let this weirdo into our space?" He sneered, his gaze sweeping over me with a mix of disdain. "What are you doing here? You don't belong here." His words dripped with venom as he spat them at me. Just as I was about to retort, ready to defend myself, Colton and the manager appeared, cutting the tension like a knife. The instant Colton stepped into view, the atmosphere shifted; 'Chad' and his smug friends fell silent, their expressions frozen in a mix of surprise and recognition as if they had just encountered an old acquaintance.

"Is something wrong here? Chad?" He asks well Chad who turns out to be Chad. I'm stunned that he fits the stereotype.

"Colton, my man, is that how you greet your friends?" He tries to fist-bump Colton who just looks indifferent. That's weird, his gaze indicates that he doesn't want to be associated with them, yet also it seems as though he wants to break them for talking to me. He stands protectively infront of me as if to shield me from the bloodshed that might happen here. Chad tries to laugh it out, from being ignored by Colton.

One of Chad's friends steps forward and and looks from me to Colton as if understanding something, apologizes, for Chad's behavior. It's like there's an unspoken rule among them. Chad then steps forward and offers me his hand as if he's asking we shake on it like we are in some kindergarten battle, and they just stepped into Colton's tuff. Noticing him holding onto a basketball. I tug on Colton's shirt. He looks at Chad then at me and then steps closer to me. I can feel his body heat even from this distance. Shit! I need to get my act in order.

"Can we leave, I don't feel comfortable around them." I tell Colton who just nods and looks at my eyes as if contemplating something.

"Okay let's leave."

He takes my hands and leads me away from them, we are not far away when a ball crushes on the back of his head.

I can practically see the wheels turning in his head, he's pissed off his grip on my hands grows tighter. He must notice my grunts as he lets go of my hands and bends down to pick the ball.

"C'mon man is that anyway to leave?" Chad smirks at Colton.

I stare at Colton to see how he will react . He just stares at the ball then at me as if asking for permission. His eyes are burning with fury, I haven't seen him like this. My heart starts thudding against my chest, Is this thrill? Why am I feeling like this ?

He just smiles at me and turns to Chad and his minions .
