Celine's POV
As we got to the hotel, the man in a suit who had interrupted us during dinner went to the check-in point.
I found out his name was Lucas along the way.
"You are to follow Mr Cassian," he said when I attempted to follow him to the check-in point.
I nodded, joining Mr Cassian. After some minutes, Lucas returned and whispered something into Mr Cassian's ear, and they started talking inaudibly.
I strained my ear to know the content of their discussion, and all I could hear were bits and pieces of conversation regarding our suite reservation.
Mr Cassian swiftly turned towards the elevator, gesturing for me to come in, which I did.
For now, Mr Cassian has been nothing but gentle towards me, but I still had that unnerving feeling that one day, I would see that part of him that terrified people, that part of him that tackled the slaves before me.
He had an undeniable finesse, and his presence was hardly ignored. He had the structure of a Greek god, and in another situation, when he isn't my captor, I would easily have fallen in love with him.
I didn't know I had been staring so hard at him until his voice cut through my thoughts. "You will find North Dalton different from the west," he said, his eyes never leaving the elevator panel.
We arrived at the top floor, the carpet muffling the sound of our footsteps. I couldn't help but notice how elegant and grandiose the interior decoration of the hotel was. I remembered I had seen the name at the entrance, "The Cassian Hotel."
He had good taste, I'll give it to him.
"Give me the keys," Mr Cassian ordered Lucas, and he obeyed, almost immediately. Mr Cassian wields so much power that could be used to my advantage, but if he turns that power against me, it could be brutal to me.
He opened the door, and I walked in first. The room was so expansive for a hotel suite that I was impressed with the interior.
At first, the hotel's interior intimidated me since I had never been to a hotel before, but I adjusted quickly because that was my special ability.
"There is the bed you will be sleeping in," he said, pointing to a far corner of the bed, "You can take whichever side you prefer."
I was stunned. Did he just say I would be sharing a bed with him? He owned the fucking hotel. Why make me share a bed with him, or was that a tradition?.
"Do you sleep in the same bed as your captives?" I blurted out before I could stop myself. "I can't sleep in the same bed as you, Mr Cassian. I would rather sleep on the sofa."
He turned to look at me, his expression turned cold. I could tell that he wasn't used to being directly opposed in this manner.
"You won't. It's late, and the bed is large enough. That's not a request."
I just nodded and walked over to the end of the bed closest to the window, although I strongly wanted to fight him on this.
As I settled down and stared out into the horizon, I heard Mr Cassian pick up a call. He spoke in a hushed tone, but I could glean some information from it.
He was talking about the business he had in this city and the man managing it. I think he had come here to sort out some mafia business.
I was staring at him, his back to me, his shoulders tense; I could tell he wasn't so happy with whatever information he was getting over the phone.
"Nervous?" he said, his voice cold. "May the good lord bless his soul if my business has been compromised."
He ended the call. I noticed he was about to face me, and I turned swiftly, fixing my attention directly at the glass window.
The street lights painted the night sky, reminding me of the last night that I had spent with my parents before they passed away.
"Mom, if you can hear me now, please protect your daughter; she is in the hands of a powerfully feared man," I muttered under my breath.
I could feel his gaze linger lustfully on me, my body tensed up immediately reflexively. I knew that gaze because I have seen it many times.
It was the look on my brother's eyes before they attempted to have their way with me, it was the look on my father's eyes when he had drawn blood from my naked body, it was the look of primal lust.
He had some documents littered across his desk, and I was curious to read them. I knew that someday I'll get to read them. I'll make sure of that.
I wanted this kind of power he wielded if I wanted to get even with the Kleins, and I would make sure of it. No matter the cost, I'll make Mr Cassian obsessed with me.
He packed up the file a few minutes later and hung his jacket on his back. I pretended to fall asleep as I noticed him walk towards where I lay.
I tensed up involuntarily, thinking he had a kink for sleeping slaves. But he turned shortly after and headed out of the room.
I was curious to know where he was headed. I slowly crept out of the bed after him, peeked through the door as I noticed Lucas at the far end, close to the elevator.
Immediately, they entered the elevator, and I came out of the suite, hurrying after them. I read the instructions on the elevator panel and quickly pressed the button for the ground floor.
As I had overheard their conversation before, I could tell they were headed for the ground floor.
When I got to the ground floor, I didn't see them at first. Fear overcame me immediately. I used the scarf I had come with over my head so as not to be detected by the hotel cameras.
I had forgotten one of the rules: not being caught outside of my room, loitering after it is thirty minutes past ten, and I would have to face the consequences soon.
