Chapter 4 - chapter4 : locked in

A few days after the final Olympics exam, I was scanning the bulletin board for the results, my eyes hunting for my form number. "Ummi," I murmured softly, still searching, when suddenly a warmth spread across my back. I felt a presence—his finger brushing next to mine on the board.

I barely glanced over and murmured, "Congratulations, your rank is second last place, my majesty," trying to hide the tremble in my voice.

Draven, sitting behind me, smirked, "Did you say something, topper?"

"Nahh, nothing, majesty... I mean, Draven!" I corrected, cheeks flushing

.Just then, Lyric appeared, grinning. "Congrats on getting second place in the competition! You're through to the next level!"I returned a gentle smile, my usual habit when speaking to someone I wasn't close to.

Lyric rolled her eyes playfully when I asked, "What about you, Lyra? What's your rank?"

She laughed, "Don't even ask, I just did it for fun.

""Hey, shall we bunk class today? I'm not in the mood to study. Anyone in?" Lyra asked.

Lucas jumped in, worried, "Are you sure? What about notes?"

I waved him off. "First, you're the topper—you're not allowed to complain. We need a break too!"

Lyra grinned, "At least Elina's not a bookworm like Amara."

Before Amara could reply, Anny said, "Elina, Draven and I can't—we have to study together."

Draven quickly pushed Lucas and Lyra, "I'm in, guys! Let's go!"

So, naturally, half the class was bunking. We hung out on the school grounds, passing time until a PE teacher started rounds. We scrambled upstairs and slipped into a room supposedly off-limits to students.

I coughed nervously. "Uh, isn't this room off-limits? What if we get caught?"

Amara shivered, "I heard a student once tried black magic here to summon demons. They wanted to make their crush fall under a spell."

"Is that true?" I asked, eyes wide

.Lyra scoffed, "Elina, Amara, don't believe those silly rumors."

As we explored, Draven whispered, "Is our little topper scared like a cat?"

Frozen, I leaned closer, my lips brushing his ear as I hissed, "Enough." Our eyes met, and we quickly looked away, embarrassed. That was unlike me—I never got this close to boys. I felt ashamed and confused.

Suddenly—a terrifying, deafening slam echoed through the empty room. The door burst shut with a force that rattled the walls, making our hearts jump.

Everyone froze. The silence was heavier than the slam

.Lyra whispered, "So, what now?"

Annoyed, Anny glared at me. "This is all your fault, Elina. You got us locked in."

I clenched my fists inside, to think in my mind ugh i really wanna punch her does all are milk feeder baby who can't take decision on own and what I really said

"I didn't mean for this," I said softly.Amara tugged my sleeve, panicked. "We have to get out!"

But Lucas held up a hand calmly, "Wait. If we yell or try to open this door now, the guard will hear and we'll all get into serious trouble. It's just a wooden door. It's locked, but it can be broken. For now, let's stay calm and wait till the last period."

Draven leaned against the dusty wall, voice low but steady, "If we make a scene, that's even worse. No one wants extra punishment. So, for now, patience."

We dragged some broken stools around, forming a little circle, trying to distract ourselves from the pounding in our chest.

But in the shadows of that locked room, everyone felt the silence press in, waiting for what would come next...

Then suddenly-
