Chapter 129: Fame Instantly
This was the first time Steve had ever seen Albus Dumbledore in person, and his initial impression was like looking like your favorite teacher just come to visit you, this man looks exactly like Gandalf. The long silver beard, the half-moon spectacles, and the long robes though he wear a blue robes, the resemblance it was almost uncanny. His mouth opening wide but the later he managed to compose himself , another thought crossed his mind. If Dumbledore himself is here, then I really have attracted the greatest attention possible.
Amelia Bones clearly had not expected the Headmaster sudden appearance.
"Albus? What are you doing here?" asked Amelia, visibly surprised.
"I heard about what happened here and wished to discuss the matter and meet the boy itself," answered Dumbledore calmly, his voice warm as always. Then his gaze shifted away from Amelia and landed squarely on Steve.
Steve felt his breath catch, partly from surprise and partly from amusement.
"Woah… Gandalf," he blurted out before he could stop himself.
A few Aurors stiffened in shock. Kingsley blinked rapidly. Even Dumbledore raised an eyebrow, the corner of his lips quirking upwards.
"Gandalf?" Dumbledore repeated gently. "By your tone, I assume that is the name of a powerful figure?"
"Yeah, well.... sort of," said Steve, scratching the back of his neck. "We have KOTOL… I mean, Keeper Of The Light. And, uh, Gandalf. Your beard really looks like his."
A low, amused laugh escaped the old wizard. It wasn't mocking him just genuine laugh, light-hearted delight.
"Well," Dumbledore said, eyes twinkling, "I shall take that as a compliment."
The room relaxed a little, tension melting into curiosity as Dumbledore stepped closer to Steve. For a moment, nothing happened. Then Dumbledore expression shifted, He was attempting Legilimency and for expert like him he didn't need a wand to use legilimency just a deep focus.
Steve didn't react, but he felt a ping from the system.
System Defence Activated. Psychic intrusion detected. Redirecting…
The system didn't just block the attempt. it replaced anything Dumbledore might have seen.
Instead of Steve memories, the old wizard glimpsed something entirely different, an image of an old man wrapped in grey robes, carrying a staff, walking through a world that did not resemble the wizarding world at all.
Dumbledore blinked, then let out another short laugh, soft, bewildered, and surprisingly warm.
"I see… That is Gandalf, I presume is a wizard that non magic people called?" he asked lightly.
Steve nodded. "Yeah, that's him."
Dumbledore eyes softened further as he studied the boy.
Amelia crossed her arms, observing both of them. Kingsley stood nearby, still trying to process everything he had witnessed today.
Dumbledore finally stepped back, folding his hands behind him.
"You are a fascinating young man, Steve Roger," he said kindly. Then his gaze shifted towards Kingsley, a silent message passing between them.
Steve wasn't sure if Dumbledore words were a good sign or a bad one. Compliments from someone like Dumbledore were never simple, he is the greatest white wizards alive and some people even comparing him to merlin.
With Dumbledore here that means attention, a lot of attention from the people in British. Steve could easily imagine how the wizarding world would react against muggleborn who defeated death eaters.
His stomach tightened a little, "Great… just what I need. More eyes watching me."
But it was too late now. The moment his name slipped into one auror testimony, Dumbledore came to visit, the Daily Prophet must have latched onto it like hungry wolves especially Rita skeeter.
Steve sighed, running a hand through his hair, he did something that transmigrator should avoid at the first place which is to attract attention.
He came here by accident. He wanted to stay unnoticed. But now, whether he liked it or not…
his name was about to shake the entire wizarding world.
Maybe it is a good thing because if his assumption correct, his little brother would noticed the portal magic he used.
---The Next Morning---
Like what Steve predicted, his story had gone viral not just in Britain but all over the world.
While Dudley Dursley who sat at the Hufflepuff table with a plate of toast and a steaming mug of pumpkin juice, when the morning owls swept through the Great Hall. As usual, dozens of newspapers fluttered down like paper snow. One landed right in front of him, the Daily Prophet.
He copied Hermione style which is to subscribe Daily Prophet so he can read the news everyday and track Voldemort attack.
He didn't pay much attention at first… until a headline in bold black letters caught his eye.
TEN-YEAR-OLD MUGGLEBORN BOY DEFEATS EIGHT DEATH EATERS
THREE DEAD, FIVE CRITICALLY INJURED
Dudley froze.
What? A kid? Ten years old??
He pulled the paper closer and scanned through the article, eyes widening at every sentence. The Prophet even printed a blurry picture, just enough to show a young boy which resembled the character of steve roger from Marvel Cinematic Universe standing with Albus Dumbledore and Minister Of Magic.
The name printed beneath the photo made Dudley choke on his toast.
STEVE ROGER
"Steve… Roger…?" Dudley whispered. It is not just the name but the resemblance between this boy and steve roger is almost similar.
His heart thumped, a young kid who are not eleven years old, can use magic without a wand and defeated a squad of death eater. That means this man must be transmigrator and he might be a real steve roger.
Dudley's mind raced.
Is he… like me? Another transmigrator? Or is him from MCU movie?
It sounded impossible. Ridiculous. But the wizarding world had long taught Dudley one important rule, it was possible because he himself had entered this world which before this he thought it is impossible.
If this Steve really was another transmigrator, that meant Dudley wasn't alone. Another person from his world was out there, thrown into a dangerous timeline with unpredictable magic and villains like Voldemort most likely would hunt for power.
A strange mix of excitement and dread curled inside him.
I need to meet him.
He didn't know Steve was his brother.
He didn't know they shared the same blood.
He only knew one thing another outsider had appeared, and the wizarding world would never be the same.
