Chapter 117: Late Sirius
Hearing this, everyone in the room looked up confused with the word from Harry potter, everyone except Dumbledore who had a guess by what it means.
"I'm sorry, but what do you mean by 'he couldn't hurt you'?" asked Mad-Eye Moody, narrowing his eyes.
"This..." Harry began, but Dudley quickly cut him off.
"I'm sorry, but fewer people who know about this, the better. I can't share it with anyone else," said Dudley, glancing at Moody with a serious expression.
"You've got the makings of an Auror, kid but I'm a trustworthy man," replied Moody, half-grinning.
"I know, Mr. Moody," said Dudley calmly, "but what happened last year taught me to be careful about who I share information with."
Moody expression shifted. He clearly didn't like what Dudley said, but after a brief pause, he nodded in agreement.
"It's fine, lad. Constant vigilance. You've got that quality in you," he admitted, though his tone carried a hint of unease.
Amelia held herself back from asking further questions. Dudley had already promised to tell her everything just not now. Dumbledore, on the other hand, seemed to understand what Dudley was hinting at. Given Dudley intelligence, it was likely he already knew something about Horcruxes.
Considering the danger Voldemort posed, Dumbledore made a mental note to investigate later to see whether Harry knew about the Horcruxes or not. But now wasn't the time. Too many people in the room weren't supposed to know about such things.
"Thank you," said Dudley, nodding slightly before continuing. "After suspecting that Moldyshorts would attack Madam Bones, I prepared several plans and one of them involves this."
He raised two glass tubes, revealing the Edurus Potion and the Thunderbrew Potion.
"These are my own creations," explained Dudley. "The first is the Edurus Potion, it would strengthen my body to the point where most curses can't injure me except for the Killing Curse, of course. The other one, the Thunderbrew Potion, does exactly what its name suggests it conjured lightning that strikes anyone nearby. That's why Moldyshorts and his followers couldn't harm me."
The room fell silent because they never knew potion had that kind of damage and can even act like a weapon. Not even Dumbledore had expected this, that is why everyone was surprised, everyone except Amelia Bones, who had witnessed firsthand how Dudley fought the Death Eaters and even Voldemort himself.
Dudley then raised his wand and conjured an illusion in midair.
The illusion took the form of a man who resembled Dudley himself. As the image drank the potion, his body turned solid and stone-like, thunder crackling ominously above.
More illusions appeared, this time mimicking Death Eaters. As they moved closer, thunderbolts suddenly struck them one after another, leaving their forms blackened like charcoal.
Everyone in the room watched in shock, finally understand how Dudley had managed to defeat an entire group of Death Eaters on his own.
Amelia, however, remained quiet. She had seen even more how Dudley had parried Voldemort attack and vanished like someone using Apparition. But she chose not to say a word, trusting there was a reason Dudley wanted to keep it secret.
---Hogwarts---
Sirius had been planning the ultimate prank with Fred and George. As a professor, however, he couldn't let the students know he was the mastermind behind it.
So when his identity as one of the Marauders was accidentally revealed, the twins admiration for him only grew stronger. To them, Sirius Black wasn't just a professor, he was a legend.
And today, they were about to pull off what they proudly called a once-in-a-century prank.
Of course, Fred and George would be the ones to execute it, but the brains behind the operation was Sirius. That was why, when Harry went missing, Sirius wasn't around, he was too busy finalizing plans with the twins.
By the time their meeting ended, it was already 7 p.m., and they decided to head down for dinner.
What surprised them most was how empty the corridors were. The students had already retreated to their common rooms.
"Where is everyone?" asked Fred, glancing around the hall.
"Maybe they're hiding from our pranks," said George with a grin. The three of them burst out laughing.
But the laughter stopped when they noticed someone walking alone down the corridor and that person is Severus Snape.
"What are you doing here, Black? Roaming around with students again?" sneered Snape, his expression unreadable.
"Oh, what an honor, Professor Sni.... I mean, Professor Snape, coming all the way to greet us," said Sirius with a wide, mocking grin.
Snape face darkened instantly. He looked ready to hex Sirius on the spot but then his expression shifted, as if he had just remembered something unpleasantly satisfying.
"I almost forgot to tell you, Black," said Snape coldly. "Harry Potter is most likely dead."
The laughter vanished from their faces.
Sirius stepped forward and grabbed Snape by the collar. "What did you just say?" he demanded, his voice shaking with fury.
"Didn't you notice the empty halls?" said Snape, a cruel smirk tugging at his lips.
Sirius expression turned grim. "What happened to Harry?"
"When you gone earlier, the Potter boy decided he wanted to die as a hero," said Snape with venom in his voice. "He went to face the Dark Lord."
"What do you mean?" Sirius snarled, pulling Snape closer. But before he could strike, Snape pushed him back forcefully.
Still sneering, Snape continued, "Didn't I tell you? The Potter brat is dead. He went to rescue Amelia Bones and was ambushed by the Dark Lord himself."
Sirius froze. "Where are they?"
"At the Bones Manor," replied Snape indifferently. "With that insufferable brat, Dudley."
At those words, Sirius didn't wait another second. He dashed off immediately, with Fred and George following close behind.
But before they could get far, Snape raised his wand. "You two, stay here," he ordered sharply.
"No way! We're going to help!" shouted Fred.
In an instant, ropes shot from Snape wand, binding the twins where they stood.
Sirius turned, glaring at Snape and his wand already in hand.
"What, Black? Planning to endanger more students?" taunted Snape.
Sirius hesitated. Snape was right, Fred and George were still students. He clenched his jaw, then bolted down the hall.
He ran as fast as he could, leaving the castle behind. Only when he crossed the perimeter of Hogwarts, past the anti-Apparition wards, did he twist on the spot and disappear with a loud crack.
He reappeared outside the ruins of the Bones Manor.
The building had collapsed. The ground was scorched and broken, signs of battle everywhere. The air smelled of ash and burnt magic. Aurors were already there, collecting bodies and investigating the aftermath.
Sirius stood frozen, his heart pounding.
"Harry…" he whispered, voice trembling as panic took hold of him.
