Chapter 61 - Changing Teams

Su Muying assembled the sniper rifle, aiming at the head of the human-shaped target 200 meters away at the far end of the Shooting Range.

*Bang*. One shot shattered the head of the human-shaped target.

Wang Zhi lowered his binoculars, feeling a bit joyful in his heart. It seemed the Survival Points spent were absolutely worth it; the effect of precise long-range strikes was maximized.

After successfully destroying ten dummies, Su Muying satisfiedly put away the sniper rifle. It appeared this rifle suited her handling quite well.

Half a day later, the two boxes of ammunition were nearly emptied by Wang Zhi and the others. They left the Shooting Range, returned the guns to the residence, ate a simple meal, and packed two portions to take to Duan Qingtian and Zhang Ming. It was originally a team of six, but now only two remained, and they were both lying in hospital beds.

Upon arriving at the medical bay, Wang Zhi saw that the moods of the two men had stabilized considerably. After they finished eating, Duan Qingtian spoke up, "Zhang Ming, go handle the team transfer procedures with Captain Wang."

Zhang Ming looked at Duan Qingtian, hesitated for a moment, but then agreed. It seemed the two of them had already discussed it thoroughly beforehand.

"Captain Duan, in a few days I plan to organize an operation to help you get revenge, and while we're at it, gather some resources from that area. Will you come?" Wang Zhi stopped Duan Qingtian as he spoke.

Upon hearing Wang Zhi's words, Duan Qingtian was first stunned, then his eyes filled with hatred.

"Yes! I definitely have to go! I must make those beasts pay in blood!" Duan Qingtian declared, his eyes bloodshot, trembling in place.

"Good. Wait for my news in the next few days."

After speaking, Wang Zhi helped Zhang Ming up from the bed, and the two of them went together to the Affairs Hall.

News about the Former Dynasty quickly spread throughout the entire Dawn Tower.

"What? The Former Dynasty has disbanded?"

"You didn't know? Only two people returned alive after the Former Dynasty went out on a mission; it was too tragic."

"I heard that Zhang Ming from the Former Dynasty has now joined the Sunset Glow team!"

"Is that true or not!? Sunset Glow is too unethical; the man hasn't even recovered yet, and they're already poaching people."

"In my opinion, that Zhang Ming isn't a good person either. Seeing his team suffer, he already found himself a successor early on, didn't he."

"Yeah, pity their captain!"

For a time, the situation of the two teams became a hot topic of casual conversation within the Dawn Tower.

Zhang Ming joined Sunset Glow with half of the Former Dynasty's 5,500 Survival Points. At this time, Wang Zhi's team had over 16,000 Survival Points.

"So you guys are this wealthy." Zhang Ming said.

"We are," Captain Wang grinned, correcting him.

Upon hearing Captain Wang's correction, Zhang Ming realized his wording was slightly inappropriate, and he laughed it off.

"Captain Wang, for this mission, could we possibly..."

"What?" Wang Zhi pressed when Zhang Ming hesitated, unable to finish his sentence.

"Could we possibly not bring Captain Duan along?"

"Not bring him? Why?" Wang Zhi found this difficult to understand.

"I'm afraid he might do something foolish. I know him well; he will definitely fight regardless of the cost."

"I see. Then he should even more certainly go. Do you want him to live the rest of his life consumed by guilt and self-blame? Do you want him in this dark and sunless Apocalypse to constantly dwell on the teammates who sacrificed themselves to save him?"

"I understand now, Captain Wang. Thank you." Zhang Ming replied, lowering his head.

The two returned to the residence. Wang Zhi arranged for Fatty to go with Zhang Ming back to his original lodging to move his belongings over.

The residence was divided into two floors, with a total of six rooms. The three rooms on the first floor were for Old He, Fatty, and Zhang Ming. The three upstairs rooms were for Wang Zhi, Su Muying, and Jia Liuli.

After Zhang Ming organized his room, Wang Zhi gathered everyone in the living room to introduce Zhang Ming to the others.

After a period of getting acquainted, it turned out Zhang Ming was previously an archaeologist. His purpose for coming here was also exploration, but upon arrival, he never returned.

"Little Ming! Now that you're here, we're all brothers. If you run into any trouble, just come to me, Li Feihong. There's nothing I can't handle in the Dawn Tower," Fatty declared confidently, thumping his chest at the side.

"We've been busy all day. Everyone get some rest quickly; we have training tomorrow," Wang Zhi said, then stood up and returned to his room.

Not long after, Jia Liuli and Ying also came in. After several days of sharing a bed, the three seemed accustomed to it. Ever since Wang Zhi and the others started wearing the weighted training suits, everyone was exhausted without exception after a full day and fell asleep the moment they hit the mattress.

.....

The next morning, the first thing Wang Zhi did was take Zhang Ming to the equipment hall. He also had a custom weighted training suit made for him. When Zhang Ming saw that he had to train wearing clothes weighing 30 kilograms every day, he exclaimed it was ridiculous—this was clearly devil's training! No wonder everyone looked so drained yesterday.

However, when in Rome, do as the Romans do. Wang Zhi arranged a suit for Zhang Ming that weighed the same as his own.

"Don't underestimate these clothes. Although they are tiring, over time, a real qualitative change can occur."

"A qualitative change?"

"Yes. Suppose you completely adapt to this suit. When you take it off, you will effectively have gained 30 kilograms of mass. It's like a 70-kilogram person fighting a 100-kilogram person. If their skills are roughly equal, there's no doubt the 100-kilogram person can completely crush the 70-kilogram one," Wang Zhi explained.

"Understood. It's like running with sandbags tied on."

"Yes, but my inspiration came from Captain Jie Xi's armor. Her suit weighs a full 50 kilograms."

"Hiss! 50 kilograms? Have you ever seen her fight?" Zhang Ming asked, sucking in a sharp breath.

"Not only have I seen it, I've sparred with her."

"Ah? What was the result?"

"I lost. I lost badly. I don't know the limit of her strength, but I know that if the six of us went up against her together, we would still lose." Wang Zhi recalled the terror of being dominated that day.

"She's that strong!?" Zhang Ming sounded somewhat disbelieving.

"Otherwise? Would I spend hundreds of Survival Points just to buy a few suits to wear?" Wang Zhi looked at Zhang Ming irritably.

"By the way, what's the deal with that Doomsday Eternal team you mentioned earlier? I haven't seen them around recently; seems like they've been out for a while," Wang Zhi suddenly remembered the masked people they saw when they first arrived on the third floor.
