Chapter 50 - Fear

"Captain, the person has been brought."

"Mmm, let her in." Jie Xi didn't look up, continuing to read her book.

"Did you ask for me?" A woman's voice sounded from outside the door after a moment.

"Please sit."

After the other person sat down, Jie Xi spoke, "What is your name?"

"My name is An Qing; I am Dr. Yang's assistant."

An Qing replied with her head lowered, feeling a sense of pressure emanating from the woman sitting across from her.

"I see you were brought back by Wang Zhi and his team. Tell me the details," Jie Xi said coldly.

Upon hearing Wang Zhi's name, An Qing immediately lifted her head, which had been lowered, and looked at Jie Xi with vigilance. "Why should I tell you?"

"Oh?" Jie Xi raised an eyebrow, stood up from her chair, and slowly walked towards An Qing.

At this moment, An Qing was enduring the pressure released by Jie Xi, and her hands had already begun to tremble.

"I... I don't know if you will persecute him," An Qing said fearlessly, looking at Jie Xi, whose killing intent was exposed.

An Qing recalled how she had brushed shoulders with death outside, so she was no longer so afraid.

"Not bad."

Jie Xi withdrew her pressure and sat back down in her chair.

An Qing, however, lowered her head and gasped heavily, having just been forced to the point of struggling to breathe by the other party.

"Let me introduce myself. This is the Guard Headquarters of the Dawn Tower, and I am the Captain here, Jie Xi."

"Captain Jie Xi, I..."

"We won't discuss Wang Zhi's matters for now; I will find him personally later. I heard you wish to join the Guard Team?"

"Yes! I want to become stronger!" An Qing looked up, her gaze firm.

"Becoming stronger isn't just talk; it requires relentless tempering and sacrificing one's life to grasp the true meaning of power. Do you still wish to proceed?"

"Yes! I will pay any price," An Qing stated with a determined look in her eyes.

"Oh? Why?"

"So that I can protect those I wish to protect, in my own way." An Qing lowered her head, clenching her fist. She pictured Xiao Qi smiling at her as he died, not even noticing her nails digging into her flesh.

"Yes, here is your Magnetic Card. From now on, you are a member of the Guard Team. However, you will need to repay 1000 Survival Points later as the cost for transitioning from Migrant to Citizen. That is the rule," Jie Xi explained to An Qing.

"Thank you, Captain Jie Xi," An Qing replied, standing up and bowing deeply to Jie Xi.

"Go on. I will assign someone to guide you on what to do specifically."

After An Qing left, Jie Xi arranged for a female guard to accompany her to complete the registration procedures and guide her regarding subsequent tasks.

After making the arrangements, she took out the coffee Wang Zhi had given her from the drawer and brewed a cup for herself using the method Wang Zhi had taught her.

"Wang Zhi, oh Wang Zhi... you truly make me see you in a new light."

.....

Several hours later.

Wang Zhi awoke. This sleep had been wonderfully fragrant, a rare moment of ease and comfort.

"Mmm~"

"Who!" Wang Zhi jumped, startled by the sound.

Wang Zhi shot up, quickly turning on the desk lamp. Lying on his pillow was a person with completely silver hair!

"Ying.... Sister Ying?" Wang Zhi whispered, trembling slightly.

Wang Zhi looked around the room layout again, confirming it was his room. Damn it, what was this woman doing here!?

"Quiet," Su Muying said with her eyes closed, then pulled the blanket, turned over, and continued sleeping.

Wang Zhi thought for a moment and immediately touched his lower body, finding he wasn't completely undressed, and breathed a sigh of relief.

"Hey... Sister Ying... don't scare me, how did you end up in my bed?"

"Mmm, I'm scared."

Damn it, this woman wasn't just being a pervert, she was shamelessly claiming to be scared too? If it weren't for the fact that she could stab dozens of Zombies in the eyes without batting an eyelid, he might have actually believed her, alright?

Immediately, Wang Zhi's gaze uncontrollably drifted downward again. Damn it, the woman had pulled her pants down, leaving only her panties? Good thing she wasn't completely naked, but that tantalizing glimpse was the most fatal thing!

Wang Zhi dared not stay in bed any longer; if he stayed, he couldn't guarantee he would remain a gentleman. He got up to wash and then went to the living room, finding Jia Liuli sitting on the sofa watching a movie playing on the Ling Lingyao.

"Oh, Liuli, you're up early," Wang Zhi walked over and sat down next to her.

"I accidentally fell asleep on the sofa. The delivery person brought the supplies and woke me up."

"Why didn't you go back to your room to sleep?" Wang Zhi asked.

Jia Liuli shook her head, "Not sleepy."

Wang Zhi looked at Liuli strangely and asked, "Are... are you scared?"

After Wang Zhi spoke, Liuli's small face flushed red, and she nodded slightly.

Seeing Liuli nod, Wang Zhi's head went black. Why was this girl just like Su Muying?

However, Liuli didn't seem like someone who would lie, so Wang Zhi immediately got off the sofa, squatted in front of her, and asked, "Why are you scared?"

Liuli thought for a while and said, "Um... I'll have... nightmares, I won't feel safe, and I won't be able to sleep soundly."

Wang Zhi was doubtful.

"Then... why don't you sleep with Sister Ying from now on?" Wang Zhi suggested.

"Will it cause trouble for Sister Ying?" Liuli worried.

"No trouble, she's scared too, you two can keep each other company."

Wang Zhi gave Liuli a look that implied understanding, then stood up and began counting the pile of supplies that had been delivered.

This haul was quite substantial: twenty-one packs of hot-selling cigarettes, five boxes of various liquids, and two boxes of candy and snacks. The firearms, bulletproof vests, and other tool parts Wang Zhi had purchased had also arrived.

"Liuli, come with me to get food."

After walking out the door, Wang Zhi noticed the third-floor training hall was completely empty. Had both the Former Dynasty team and the Eternal Doomsday team gone out?
