Chapter 27 - The Coffee Shop

During training, Wang Zhi still focused his efforts primarily on physical fitness.

Physical fitness is the capability demonstrated through physical qualities such as strength, speed, endurance, coordination, toughness, and movement technique; it is a necessary factor for survival in the Apocalypse.

Imagine if a group of Zombies were chasing you: speed is needed to escape, strength is needed to chop the Zombies, and all of this requires stamina.

Wang Zhi checked the time—six hours had already passed—then radioed everyone, telling them to head to the dining hall to eat and rest for a while.

"Ah! I can't take it anymore. If I don't die out there, I'll be worked to death right here first."

Fatty arrived at the dining hall and immediately collapsed onto a chair, wailing.

Wang Zhi glanced at the exhausted Fatty and turned to Old He, asking, "What did you do to him to make him this worn out?"

Old He replied, "Nothing much, I just made him run ten kilometers while carrying a load."

"Running ten kilometers with a load shouldn't tire you out *that* much, right?" Wang Zhi said, gently nudging Fatty, who was slumped over the table.

Hearing this, Fatty draped an arm over the table and said weakly, "Look, see the red marks on my arm? And on my legs, on my waist? That was thirty kilograms! Ten kilometers!"

"Uh... Old He, perhaps don't push him so hard. Fatty's foundation is weak after all; we need to proceed step by step." Wang Zhi looked at the chafing marks on Fatty's arm and genuinely feared he might train him into the grave.

"Don't worry, I know what I'm doing. If we don't train hard now, we'll just get eaten by the Zombies outside. Where would the 'step by step' approach be then?" Old He ignored Wang Zhi's plea on Fatty's behalf.

Wang Zhi didn't press the issue further. It was Fatty's life; as long as the training didn't kill him, he supposed they should push him to the limit.

"Yo, Fatty, are you playing dead here?"

Just then, Ying and Jia Liuli also walked in from outside.

Once the two sat down, he noticed that Jia Liuli's condition wasn't very good either.

Her small face was somewhat pale, and her hands resting on the table were trembling slightly.

Hearing Ying had arrived, Fatty pushed himself up and tried to negotiate with Liuli: "Sister Liuli, how about we switch? Let me train with Sister Ying instead!"

"Oh?"

Ying raised an eyebrow, the Dagger in her hand spinning faster and faster, before suddenly flashing once.

"You still want to train with me now?"

Fatty swallowed hard as he looked at the lock of hair that had fallen onto the table.

"I was just kidding. Men and women shouldn't touch. Besides," he then flopped back onto the table to continue playing dead.

While they were talking, Wang Zhi had already ordered 10 large servings of rice, three vegetable dishes, one meat dish, and five bottles of Red Moo milk.

"It is the Apocalypse now. The outside world is extremely dangerous. Although we have food and drink here, we can't live underground like rats forever, can we? Therefore... I hope everyone can work hard together to survive this Apocalypse." Wang Zhi spoke his true feelings once more.

"That's right, let's all work hard together!" Old He picked up his *Hong Mou*, clinked glasses with the others, and drank it all down in one gulp.

After eating, Wang Zhi stood up, paid the bill, and left the restaurant.

He wasn't in a hurry to go train. He suddenly realized that his own strength was too weak. In terms of firearms, he was far inferior to Old He; in terms of melee weapons, he was even less capable than Ying and Jia Liuli. Fatty was also growing stronger through daily training.

So what about himself? What could he use to command respect?

Just like when Ying threatened him last night, he truly had no power to resist.

Although Old He and Ying hadn't said it explicitly, Ying had already given him sufficient warning.

If they wanted to kill him, it would be very easy!

If he continued to indulge in the self-satisfied aura of a Captain, it wouldn't take long before he became a puppet leader with no chance of turning things around.

This was also what worried him the most. In terms of fighting and killing, the gap between him and them wasn't just a year or two of effort; trying to become stronger through training, like Fatty, was simply not feasible!

While he was getting stronger, others were also getting stronger; their starting lines were different!

Aside from military might, what method could he use to gain their reliance?

Wang Zhi suddenly remembered an item in the system at the Intelligence Hall that day: the preferences of Guard Team Captain Jie Xi!

At the time, he thought who would be so bored as to buy that kind of intelligence, but now, for him, this was an excellent opportunity to make contact with her again!

Someone who can command a full assembly meeting must hold a significant position within this Dawn Tower!

Furthermore, since he had already made contact with her once, this second time would make them better acquainted.

If he could establish a good relationship with this Captain (Daiduizhang), it would surely become a trump card for him.

As long as he held a trump card, then he wouldn't truly be just a puppet captain; at least he would have some influence.

Thinking this, Wang Zhi jogged all the way to the Intelligence Hall.

Wang Zhi opened the menu on the screen and searched for the intelligence file from before.

Relying on his memory, he quickly located the piece of intelligence regarding Jie Xi.

The price was very cheap, only 10 Survival Points.

Wang Zhi looked around, confirmed no one was watching, and then said to the front desk attendant: "Hello, I wish to purchase the intelligence item numbered A.108." He handed over his Magnetic Card as he spoke.

"Certainly, your access rights have been unlocked. Please proceed to the designated area for viewing."

Wang Zhi took back the Magnetic Card and went to the viewing terminal in the corner of the wall.

After placing the Magnetic Card on the machine to verify his identity, the screen displayed the personal intelligence he had purchased, as well as the intelligence being sold.

Wang Zhi didn't hesitate and clicked directly on the intelligence he had just bought.

[Guard Team Captain Jie Xi frequently visits a coffee shop; specific details unknown.]

Wang Zhi: "???"

Just one coffee shop, and the rest is listed as unknown? This intelligence is quite a rip-off!

Wang Zhi complained inwardly, but he did not give up.

Since I know where the coffee shop is, I might as well go there myself and ask. That should work, right?

The coffee shop was on the first floor, which was the largest level in the Dawn Tower.

Nearly all leisure, entertainment, medical care, residences, production, and farming facilities were located on the first floor.

The first floor was further divided into four zones: the first was the entrance area, the second housed farming and production, the third contained staff residences, and the last comprised the various shops and venues.

Wang Zhi was momentarily stunned by the complete ecosystem within the Dawn Tower as soon as he grasped the layout of the first and second floors; such a level of construction could already be called a miniature city.

Wang Zhi didn't rush to the coffee shop; instead, he went to a snack store. His purpose in visiting the snack store was to offer the clerk a little something extra, otherwise, their answer would very likely be a simple, "I don't know."

Chocolate for 10 Survival Points a box! Food was always the hard currency in the Apocalypse.

Carrying the chocolate, he arrived at the sole coffee shop in the fourth zone.

Upon entering, Wang Zhi found the place empty save for a manager meticulously wiping down cups. This situation was understandable; in the environment of the Apocalypse, who would have money to burn on luxuries like this? Anyone with Survival Points would rather spend them on food or weapons than on coffee.

"Hello, sir. What can I get for you?" the manager asked as soon as he saw someone enter.

Wang Zhi sat down at the bar, placed the box of chocolate he was holding directly onto the counter, and slid it toward the manager.

The manager looked up at Wang Zhi, clearly confused. "Sir, what is this?"

Wang Zhi said, "I need to ask about something!"
