I wished to cast some kind of spell on those bitches. Any kind for all that mattered, but alas, my less than 1-day old status as a Walker didn't really give me much chance.
And my only spell as of now was a reflective mental attack type.
That didn't mean I would just stay silent.
"Yet you need to look up to see the mutt. How's the weather down there anyway?"
But that wasn't enough, oh no.
"Yo, bro. Shouldn't we call an exorcist or something? Two completely unrelated midgets saying everything at the same time is clearly a sign of possession by ghosts, right?"
The veins in those receptionists' foreheads actually popped while Théo bursts into a loud laughter.
"You know what? You might be onto something, but let's just go to the elders. Those old asses don't enjoy waiting too much."
And that they didn't, as clear as day.
When we arrived at the upper floors of the extra luxury more dreamlike hotel than a real one, they all donned a big ass scowl on their faces.
Three men I couldn't really distinguish the age of, first looked at Théo and then started scrutinizing me from head to toe. It was kind of weird, being looked at so carefully by complete strangers after passing every moment of my life I could remember being ignored, and this was the result of my own foolishness, if only I had said I took the shifter path, I'd probably not be here, so that was it.
"What are those ears?"
That was the first question, no greetings, not even pleasantries and certainly no fucks given.
I knew something like this was going to happen the moment I was told we'd come to Merridion, but the bluntness was refreshing nonetheless. I was also sure they had ways to know if I was lying even the slightest bit.
Hence it was time to bullshit with style.
"Oh these old things? They're ancient history for all I know."
My smile never wavered. That was the truth after all, the interpretation of those words however…
Hey, it's up to them.
At that moment a shadow appeared next to each elder, literal shadows taking form.
What the…
The three shadows nodded at the same time.
"What the? Who are those shadows?"
The elders responded to my voice with a glint in their eyes and then I heard a collective voice that simingly came from nowhere and everywhere at the same time.
"He sees."
"He possesses the family rune."
"However."
"Not blood. Not blood. Not blood."
"ENOUGH"
The shadow were silenced and dismissed like it was nothing.
"Don't worry about them young man, you'll eventually understand."
"Indeed, now it's time to fix you up."
"And then we can decide where to send you."
I'm so fucked, so so fucked.
*****************
Screams of pain leisurely forgotten echoed in the room while three elders and a man were enjoying tea.
"Maaaaan, this really hits the spot!!"
"Right? I told you mixing vodka with tea was the only way to drink it."
"Have you tried herbal tea with whiskey? Divine I say. Divine!"
"AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAH!!!!"
The screams wouldn't stop and neither would the men.
Tea was flowing with alcohol and instead of pastries, the table was full of meat and savoury food.
Laughter and screams were mixing in a pure blend, if anyone outside of the house of disorder were to see this scene, they would immediately accuse of unfaltering madness.
"Still, don't you think what the spirits said is strange?"
"That he's no blood? Sure, but you can feel it, can't you?"
"Yeah… the [disorder] in his mana is basically as pure as that of the core family. One could only explain it if he was a forgotten child."
"Still, not our blood. Has it ever happened?"
There was silence after that, even the screaming had muffled down, either for exhaustion, death or failing to keep up the consciousness, but the problem in the elders' hands didn't diminish at all.
An orphan, unknown origin, but still bearing the perfect mana of [disorder].
"Is there a way to check if his blood comes from the beyond? We already are thought of as the traitors."
"There is."
The young man finally took the stage and explained his basic but effective plan.
There really was no need to worry too much.
"Also, even if his blood comes from the beyond, I don't think we should be hasty, on the contrary, we should chain him to us."
"Why do you think so?"
"You all read the background check."
"Of course, genius of physical arts during his time in the orphanage, he only stopped because he didn't have money to eat, and when he focused on theory subjects, he outshined those dogs from [law] effortlessly."
I don't know about effortlessly, but he sure did outshine them all. - thought the young man.
The problem was really how to bind him to them in case his blood came from the beyond.
"Ahhh, we also have issues with the house of [Love] now. If the young master didn't mess with a member of the heir's harem! Enemies everywhere! EVERY FUCKING WHERE!!"
Hearing the problem his young master had caused, the young man instinctively looked at the trembling young man on the floor.
"Well, you wanna know a funny thing elders?"
"Always!"
The answer came without a doubt from all three of them.
"You know the slut the young master hired to mess up with the flashl- girl?"
"What about her?"
"Well, that same slut, for starter is a man, that's why the girl started making a fuss bigger than it should have been, but the funniest thing of it all…"
"A MAN?! HAHAHAHAHAHAHA SUCH A GOOD JOB! We should send some gifts to that manw- boy! Even if it's problematic, we gain a lot of fun! And all the heirs will come to us this year!"
"I'm still confused about that, but I digress. The boy the young master hired, is currently over there trembling on the verge of life and death."
Jaws slacked. Silence reined supreme. Eye bulged and then, all at once a thunderous laughter exploded in the room, so loud it could be heard throughout the whole hotel. It was so contagious and joyful that whoever heard it started to giggle themselves.
A resonance of disorder, madness and intoxication suddenly broken by a young giant that just woke up and felt left out.
"What's with this cruelty?! I want in on the fun!!!"
