Chapter 9 - Chapter 09

"Is there something important?" Yun Guoqu's tone was a little unfriendly, Fu Ziya cleared her throat, realizing she was not focused and returned to her purpose of approaching Yun Guoqu.

"Sun Li sent something, she said it might be related to that evil spirit."

"Did she give any further details?" Fu Ziya shook her head. It had only been a day since their return when the spirits were on the move again. They were rushing towards the human world.

Sun Li was a lady of the Senlin Sun clan, located east of the human realm. Their sect was surrounded by forests of giant trees. The Senlin sect wasn't particularly large, as the previous Sun sect leader lacked the same ambition as other sect leaders to expand their sect across the land. Most of their villages were small villages nestled within the forest, and the people living near the Senlin sect mostly earned their living as woodcarvers. No one could match the skill of these craftsmen.

The giant forest is vast and expansive, with tall trees and numerous wild animals. This has also caused many travelers from outside to get lost while passing through it on their way to the Senlin Sun Sect.

Qi Yi explored every corner of the forest with her powers. Overall, the giant forest possessed a positive natural energy. It was well-maintained and well-maintained; it seemed the surrounding villagers were taking great care of the giant forest, avoiding any damage to the natural environment or its ecosystem. However, she sensed something different about the place: a mingling of negative energies. This caused the villagers and merchants, who had already struggled to find their way to Senlin Village, to become even more lost.

Approaching the Senlin Sun sect, they found the houses starting to fill up. In front of the houses, there would be displays of wooden antiques with carvings typical of the giant forest of Senlin village.

As they went further in, no one would have believed that such bustling activity would exist within a forest that looked eerie from the outside. They headed straight for Luse—the center of the Senlin Sun sect's activities—to meet Sun Li, who had sent them a message.

Unlike XueHua, which appeared to be constructed from large chunks of ice, Luse was largely constructed of wood, with a mix of brown and green hues in every corner. Large trees greeted them as they entered the courtyard. Seeing who had arrived, one of the disciples ran to greet them. The disciple, dressed in the Senlin Sun Sect's signature brown attire, blushed at the sight of the beautiful faces visiting the hidden sect.

"Can I ask who you are?" the student asked politely.

"We would like to meet Miss Sun Li." Yun Guoqu replied.

The disciple's brow furrowed, "Miss Li has been patrolling the forest since morning, and she hasn't returned yet. Would you like to wait for her?" The servant's statement naturally raised eyebrows among them, but they chose to wait.

"Why is it so quiet here?" asked Fu Ziya, looking around.

"The sect master is out, while the first young master has taken the disciples to train outside the forest. Only the second miss is in her room." The disciple led the five of them to a gazebo overlooking the forest. He also served food and drinks.

"Why did Sun Li leave after sending this request for help?" Fu Ziya asked after the servant left.

"Are you sure it's from Sun Li?" Yun Guoqu asked back. "You don't believe me? You were the one who gave me the jade, and now you don't believe me." Without a second thought, Fu Ziya spat at Emperor Yun Guoqu. Yun Guoqu couldn't help but smile.

"Yun Guoqu is your emperor, why are you so impolite? As a woman, you should also watch your mouth."

"Then why should I listen to you." General Gu and Fu Ziya started their debate, at that moment, Qi Yi remembered again about the evil spirit they were looking for.

The evil spirit had no name, no origin, and no background, but seeing how easily it destroyed a group of high-class monsters and managed to escape from the demon prison so easily demonstrated its power. It must be incredibly powerful.

But when they arrived at the sect, everything seemed fine, nothing out of the ordinary. The initial uneasy feeling quickly faded as they entered the residential area.

In the midst of his argument with Lady Fu, General Gu suddenly threw his axe into the forest. The general's sudden movement startled Fu Ziya, who was already giggling, then she became irritated and angry. Moments later, the axe returned to the demon general's hand. "I saw something," he explained before anyone could ask.

Yun Guoqu spoke. "This is a wilderness, and there are naturally many wild beasts watching. Miss Sun has set up a barrier so that no one can enter Luse." Qi Yi turned her head toward the forest. Not only had General Gu sensed something within the forest, she had sensed it as well. As the demon emperor, she knew that whatever it was had no ill intentions.

Qi Yi felt Yun Guoqu's gaze on her. From this, she could deduce that Emperor Yun was feeling and thinking the same thing as her.

"The closest sect to Senlin is the Shen Sect in Jinghu. Jinghu is right beyond that mountain." Wan An pointed to the cloud-covered mountain. "If something happens to the Senlin sec, Shen Xing will be the first to know and arrive." Shen Xing had lost his sword. At least the demon general still kept it, ready to return it if they ever met.

"So young master Shen should already know about this."

"I didn't tell him, he's probably busy flirting with every woman he meets. I don't want to see his stupid face." Sun Li emerged from the main building, the small-eyed woman greeting her guest who had come all the way to the human world. After exchanging greetings, the woman sat down on the empty bench next to Wan An.
