Chapter 34 - chapter 34_Not a big deal

When Daisy got home, the first thing she did was put Kulture to sleep. The house finally felt quiet, and for a moment she thought she'd rest—until her phone buzzed.

It was Demon.

He told her to come out for a drink, just to unwind a little. Daisy hesitated, but she eventually agreed.

At the bar, they talked the way they always did—easy, familiar. They joked about work, complained about their day, and laughed over the little things only they understood.

Daisy closed the car door gently, unaware of the storm she had just walked into. Demon waited until she reached the gate before driving off.

She exhaled, tired but lighter than before—until she sensed someone behind her.

"Enjoyed your night?" Leo's voice cut through the quiet.

Daisy froze. She turned slowly, finding him standing in the shadows, hands in his pockets, jaw tight. His eyes weren't angry… but they held something sharper. Something she couldn't read.

"Leo—what are you doing here?" she whispered.

"I should be asking you that," he said, stepping closer. "

Daisy swallowed. "It's not what you think. Demon just offered me a drink. We talked about work, that's all."

Leo scoffed softly. "Right. Just work."

She hated how his gaze made her feel exposed, like he could see through every word she tried to choose carefully.

"Leo, nothing happened," she insisted.

He looked at her for a long moment, the tension stretching between them like a pulled string. Then he said quietly:

"I don't care about the drink, Daisy. I care that you didn't tell me."

Her breath caught.

Before she could reply, Leo took a step back. "Goodnight."

He turned and walked away, leaving Daisy standing at the gate—heart pounding, guilt twisting in her chest, and a thousand words stuck on her tongue.

Daisy hurried inside, her heart racing. She couldn't leave things like that—not with Leo.

She walked straight to his room, pushing the door open quietly.

Leo was there, sitting on the edge of the bed, elbows on his knees, head down. The room felt heavy, thick with everything they didn't say.

"Leo," she whispered.

He didn't look up.

She stepped closer. "Please… let me explain."

Nothing. Not a word.

Daisy's voice softened. "I should've told you. I know. But I didn't hide anything because of him. I was tired, and Demon just—he just offered me a drink. That's all. I swear."

Leo finally lifted his head. His eyes met hers, filled with frustration… and something deeper.

"I don't want to hear excuses," he muttered.

"It's not an excuse," she said gently. "I just… I don't want you thinking something that's not true."

She moved closer, until she was standing right in front of him. "Leo, look at me."

And he did.

For a second, everything stopped. The tension, the hurt, the anger—everything swirled together in the silence between them.

Daisy reached out, her hand brushing his cheek. "I'm telling you the truth."

Leo exhaled sharply, like he'd been holding his breath the whole time. He stood up, and before she could say another word, he grabbed her waist and pulled her closer.

"Daisy…" he murmured.

Then he kissed her—hard, deep, like he was trying to silence every doubt in his chest.

She melted into him, hands sliding up to his shoulders as the room disappeared around them.

TheWhy are you even mad? It's not a big deal," Daisy said quietly.

Leo's head snapped up.

"Not a big deal?" he shouted.

Daisy flinched, shivering at the sharpness in his tone. She took a step back, but before she could move farther, Leo caught her by the waist, pulling her close enough that she could feel the tension rolling off him.

"Then why did you hug him?" he demanded.

Daisy's eyes widened. "H–how did you know? Were you… following me?" "Don't change the topic," Leo snapped. His gaze dropped briefly to her outfit, frustration tightening his jaw. "You wore something so revealing, and your top was slightly open. And you hugged him—hugged him—and you're telling me it's not a big deal?"
