Chapter 8 - villains escape

I stood up. My limbs feeling stronger than when I came here. The dark cell seemed to darken even further when I stood. Almost like light itself was afraid of me. It felt....amazing.

My body stood with purpose. My posture still perfect despite all the experiments and medicine.

Without chains I felt invincible. Wanting nothing more than to burn this place to the ground. I looked down at my hands, the black jagged lines on them prominent and dark.

I took a couple steps, wobbling slightly from the lack of using them. But I didn't care. I forced myself to the cell door. Ready to blast it open. Before I could do so, someone opened it.

Without thinking, the black that had freed me captured the scientist. Squeezing until a satisfying pop sound came out. Music to my ears....that was....until I saw the blood. Thick and red, running down the dead mans body.

I was lucky enough to know these people didn't know who I was.

I never had a name in this place. Always something like "brat" "freak show" and "monster", never my actual name. And when someone would guess they would almost never say my name.

Someone called me Sarah at one point and soon, everyone called me Sarah. Then someone made up a last name and I was called Sarah Fuego. Who the fuck was Sarah Fuego.

I hated it. I wanted the name to die. Nothing could convince me otherwise.

I tossed the dead scientist aside, determined to get out. I wouldn't let anyone kill me. Not like my sister. I would avenge her. I would kill anything that stood in my way.

I ran through the halls with a siren blaring in all directions. People running wild. Chaos made to be considered orderly. I had killed three of them so far. Blood stained my clothes as I ran.

I made it to the main hall. Running fast. Looking for any way out. Worried about what would happen if I failed this time. Tripping over my own two feet was annoying and it kept happening. I never fell though, just lost balance.

I kept running, but stopped dead in my tracks when I saw him. The man that tricked me into coming here. I saw red. My thoughts wanting to take revenge but I heard shots. Aimed at me.

I gave that chance up, opting to run for it instead. The building looked like an asylum and it didn't help that it was basically a maze. I burst through a set of double doors and when the closed I hadn't even realized the siren started getting quiet.

When my eyes opened, the walls had changed. No longer the plain sterile white they were before. Colored and decorated like it was meant for joy. I slowed my movements, watching the area. My hands fiddling with themselves while my brain raced to find an explanation.

I heard children laughing, the sound made my blood run cold. They were testing children. Anyone underage. I thought it was another place of pain and misery. That was until I opened a random door.

People of various ages were playing like nothing was happening. Eating food that looked good. Nothing like the cell I had been in.

One of them saw me and smiled. A guy, about my age. Black hair swooped to the side. A skin tight shirt that left barely anything to the imagination. Eyes so vibrant they could make anyone trust him. His smile like the sun itself. He was well built too, if he wasn't wearing that shirt I would've assumed he was weak. Definitely a sleeper build.

He stood up, walking towards me with purpose. He grabbed my wrist firmly but not enough to hurt, the veins in his hand prominent for some reason. A watch on his hand. He pulled me fully into the room before checking the halls. Like he knew what was happening.

After confirming there wasn't anyone there, he led me into the room, the other people in the room didn't even look at me. He spoke, a voice like silk, but deep and controlled as well.

"Are you hungry?"

I froze, I was but I didn't want to eat the slop I was normally given. He saw the look on my face and sighed. Grabbing a bag of chips I hadn't seen before, handing them to me. When I didn't want to take them, he forced them into my hands and spoke again.

"Trust me. I'm not against you. I heard what those monsters did. It's disgusting. They did it to me too. Listen, I know a way out, you can leave before it's too late."

My eyes widened at that, he....wasn't judging me based on my appearance. He wanted to help. Something in me told me not to trust him, that he was like all the others but he handed me a folded up paper.

When I opened it, it was a map, hand drawn from the looks of it. Detailing the exact way out.

"Take it" he spoke softly. "I've memorized it anyway and I'm not in any real danger right now" he smiled softly. "My name is Zack. They call me storm in here though"

Zack.....short for Zackary probably. He looked at me confused before I realized I didn't answer.

"Oh! Uhm....lexi....." I mumbled, my voice barely audible. He smiled, then said my name back to me, as if testing it.

He gave me a closed bottle of water and helped me up.

"Hurry up, I'll stall anyone that comes by okay?" He said kindly, ushering me out of the room. He pointed me down the hall and right before I heard yelling, I ran.

My feet took me faster than I had ever gone. The need for survival was great. I followed the map, taking any steps three at a time. I ran through a metal door and my feet immediately touched grass.

For the first time in over a month, I breathed in fresh air. I avoided all security measures and people. Making it off the property before anyone could catch me. Within minutes....I was gone. Safe. But I knew it wasn't over. Something in me knew I wasn't going to be let go so easily.
