Chapter 22 - Chapter 22: Blade’s Advanced Stealth Skill!

But soon, the vampires calmed down.

"He's merely human. What does it matter if his weapon is good?" one vampire said dismissively.

Their vampiric physiques were far stronger than any human's. As long as they avoided that strange watermelon knife, they could easily take the guy down.

Many vampires felt this made sense, and they immediately swarmed forward, clawing and gnashing their teeth as they lunged at Du Mu!

Eyes of the God of Death!

Suddenly, the vampires' movements became incredibly sluggish!

Du Mu didn't hesitate. With a flick of his wrist, the watermelon knife slashed out swiftly!

Shua! Shua!

Two cold flashes of light passed, and two vampires' heads flew off, their bodies instantly dissolving into scattered ashes!

Du Mu's assault was relentless!

Gripping the watermelon knife tightly, he launched into a furious series of slashes and hacks against the other swarming vampires!

Driven by his immense strength, the blade easily sliced through the vampires' bodies. They didn't even have time to fully scream before exploding into clouds of ash amid the flashing blade-light!

The fierce fighting instantly drew the attention of every vampire in the club.

They stared momentarily at the deaths of their comrades, but their bloodthirsty instincts immediately overrode their reason, and they rushed toward Du Mu one after another.

Du Mu did not retreat; instead, he surged forward, plunging boldly into the heart of the vampire crowd!

Supernatural identity aside, these vampires were, in Du Mu's eyes, little more than random street thugs. Their attacks were undisciplined—just biting and clawing. Combined with the Nichirin Blade (which was a natural bane to vampires) in his hand, killing them was like slicing melons and dicing vegetables!

He simply raised the blade and struck! Raised the blade and struck!

Without even blinking!

The number of vampires rapidly decreased, and a thick layer of ash accumulated on the floor beneath Du Mu's feet.

"No, don't come any closer!"

The remaining vampires huddled in a corner, their reason finally returning. They trembled as they looked at Du Mu, who held the watermelon knife.

Who said this guy was human?

He was a hundred times more brutal than they were!

Shua! Shua! Shua!

Cold light flashed repeatedly, and the last few vampires turned into dust.

Du Mu shook the ash off the watermelon knife and glanced at his mission progress. He had killed 34 vampires so far.

Ignoring the mess, Du Mu left the underground club, casually dealing with the two guards standing by the iron door.

Yes, they were vampires too.

"System, mark some locations for me."

As Du Mu spoke, over a dozen crimson markers immediately appeared on the map, scattered across various parts of New York.

This was all intelligence Du Mu had forced out of the red-haired woman with the large waves—all vampire gathering spots.

Looking at the markers on the map, Du Mu stretched his muscles.

"Time to grind! Time to grind!"

Over the following period, Du Mu began to traverse New York's streets and alleys, sweeping through one vampire stronghold after another.

The vampire strongholds were all similar—mostly bars or nightclubs—fitting the nature of such creatures.

The only somewhat unique location was a church, where everyone from the priest to the cleaning lady was a vampire, perfectly demonstrating the concept that the most dangerous place is the safest.

Unfortunately, their disguise meant nothing to Du Mu, who promptly sent them all to meet God with his watermelon knife.

He wondered what God thought of this flock of vampire pseudo-believers.

Armed with just his watermelon knife, Du Mu cut his way from the south side of New York all the way to the north side, hacking for three days and three nights straight!

Even Chan Ho Nam wasn't this busy!

In just three days, Du Mu had successively raided a dozen vampire gathering places, and the number of vampires killed had soared to over four hundred.

His actions were swift, causing little commotion that drew the attention of ordinary humans.

The only thing was that nearby residents felt the air quality seemed to have worsened recently, with strange, unknown ash constantly drifting in the air.

The next evening, Du Mu moved again.

But this time, he noticed that the security level at the target stronghold had significantly increased.

Clearly, the vampire community had caught wind of his actions and begun to take precautions.

Just as Du Mu was observing the entrance of a nightclub from the shadows, a low voice sounded abruptly behind him:

"Are you the Vampire Killer?"

"Who is it! Who's speaking!"

Du Mu's eyes widened, and he vigilantly scanned his surroundings.

"I'm on your left."

Hearing the voice, Du Mu finally noticed a burly black man standing in the nearby shadow, dressed in a black leather trench coat, black sunglasses, and black tactical gear.

He was virtually merged with the darkness; had Du Mu not looked closely, he would not have seen him at all.

Du Mu couldn't help but exclaim, "Such an advanced stealth skill! I didn't even notice you!"

The burly black man: "?"

He was purely just standing there. There was no 'stealth.'

"Right, what did you call me just now?" Du Mu asked.

"Vampire Killer."

The burly black man repeated the name, his voice low. "It's said that someone has been consecutively clearing out several vampire strongholds recently, slaughtering hundreds of vampires, and has therefore been dubbed the Vampire Killer by the vampires. I guess that person must be you, right?"

"What a cliché codename," Du Mu scoffed, examining the black man. "And who are you?"

The black man said coolly, "You can call me Blade. Like you, my target is those blood-sucking trash."

"Got it. So you're here to poach my monsters."

Du Mu realized, immediately pulled out his watermelon knife, and contemplated how many sections he should divide Blade into.

Blade: "?"

He had trouble keeping up with Du Mu's line of thought, but he could tell Du Mu had a strong desire to kill vampires.

The enemy of my enemy is my friend.

Blade quickly said, "Don't worry, I won't interfere with your actions. I'm looking for a vampire named Deacon Frost. According to my intelligence, one of his important lieutenants is hiding in this stronghold."

He paused, looking at the heavily guarded entrance.

"However, your actions over the past few days have terrified these creeps. Now all the vampire strongholds have reinforced their defenses. If we cause a huge scene here, the vampires inside will definitely slip away immediately, and it'll be much harder to flush out these rats hiding in the sewers."

Du Mu nodded; there was some truth to that.

The enemies in this game weren't like the monsters in other games that just stayed in their specific spots, waiting for the player to come and farm them.

"Then what do you suggest?"

"We can cooperate. You can have all the vampire trash inside, and I just need Frost's lieutenant."

"Heh, why would I cooperate with—"

"I can provide you with more vampire strongholds."

"Pleasure working with you!"
