The reason for this is that he doesn't know what kind of trap would be triggered from the treasure chest. If it is a poisonous or fire trap he was not sure if he can save the body of the snake monster.

The metal spear in his hand started to melt after coming into contact with the poisonous fog. He dropped it on the spot to run away from this room. It will take a while to solve this mess while he can explore the previously left places.
So he went to clear the previous hidden treasure location. Originally it is meant for the protagonist Robert. So there is some healing medicine inside the secret compartment. Along with that there are plenty of money and experience orbs.

Also the handles can bend to 90 degrees with a finger guard. As long as he bent it down the blade of the dagger would extend all the way to the elbow without harming him. It is like his hands have grown blades.
The handles and hand guard would protect his hands when punching and swipe to slash with the blade on the hand. This kind of fighting is for close combat attack. These are bronze level attack weapons.
Visva took it with happiness as he would practice it later to become proficient in it. The other items are simple normal items of potions, food, and water and dungeon coins. These things are collected and he left this room back to the starting room.
