It was already evening by the time I decided to stop for a break, I had covered about six kilometers which for me was a huge milestone. I still remember how i used to hate long walks until Ruby started making me walk a whole kilometer with her after dinner which started as a nuisance but turned into one of the things I looked forward to.
Now I somewhat enjoy walking, going on at a steady pace while taking in the lush green view, and to top it off the clean air which refreshed me with every breath I took.
Staying in the bed sure has it's positives but I would be lying if I say wasn't enjoying the walk. The only thing that made me not give this experience a perfect 10 was the worry of encountering any more monsters or wild animal. The last one i came across was luckily a harmless one but that was around the town but now that I am in open Land far from the town with lots of trees and bushes where monsters can hide in, I was told most wild animals parish so that's one load off my mind.
I opened the handbook and started reading about the different kinds of monsters while keep an eye on the surroundings.
Ain't no way I'm letting these monsters catch me off gaurd.
While trying to figure out if a bush far from me is a bush or a camouflaged monster I saw a river at a distance, even though I was few hundred steps away from it, I could hear the water flow. I ran towards it with excitement even skipping a few steps along the way. I had done river side camping a few times with each one being a major success I was a little too confident about camping there but a sudden sound of a branch cracking from a group of trees near by brought me back to reality. I took slow and steady steps while whispering "r~i~v~e~r~!!!"
Upon reaching the river bank the first thing I did was make the tent. Normally it would have taken me about 20 minutes to set up a tent but due to the noise earlier, my whole attention was on the side of the trees that noise came from, it took me 50 minutes to complete the tent and while admiring how perfect I made it a thought came into my mind...
Isn't this tent a bit too easy to destroy? Especially for the beings that may contain supernatural abilities... I mean I almost destroyed it a few times while building...
"Well well well, look at the time, it's almost dinner time. Let me take out my canned food." I said to myself to stop thinking about stuff that may make me lose my appetite.
Wait a second... wouldn't the smell of my food may just reveal my location and make a me huge target.
"You know what? Light a fire! Fire keeps wild anime away. Works like a charm!"
But the fire may just end up making it easier to spot me during the night time.
There I was over thinking myself to death yet again, I was finding the solutions to the problems and then I was finding problems in the solutions, I was spending way too much time in thinking about what to do to ensure my safety while knowing quite well that there is nothing I can do other than hope that I go unnoticed.
The sky was slowing starting to turn dark as the cold night started approaching, the air felt a little heavier, the rustling sound of the leaves and the sound of the flowing water accompanied me as I went around collecting dry branches.
The sun was now fully set with no light other the moon embracing the land. I quickly lit a fire to warm up the food and hopefully kept away the monsters, I sat on a log beside the fire and just look at the fire for a while. How the flames kept changing it's shape and size while I just stared at it.
As I waited for the food to get warm I started thinking about how unreal it all felt.
"One minute I was with my sister and the other minute on a bed of a hospital recovering from a event I have no memory of... woke up to find the world in ruins and the survivors have to fight these supernatural monsters to stay alive... if this is all a dream I want to wake up now...I want to go home and see my family..."
The food was ready to eat, I took the can and stuffed the fish in my mouth as tears randown my eyes. I kept stuffing my mouth with fish and the tears kept flowing, Once the can was empty, that's when the tears dried out.
With the dinner now complete, I remembered the one kilometers after dinner walk but it was dark, not just dark, it felt as if everything across the light from fire just didn't exist. Not wanting to give up I just walked around the camp until I hit the goal of one kilometers which takes me like 1436 steps. It's quite a big ordeal but once it's in your routine it doesn't feel any different than something like brushing your teeth.
After the completing the walk the only thing left to do was to visit dreamland. I went in the tent, zip up the tent door and keep a bottle of water infront of it, got inside the sleeping bag and was ready to venture out to the wonderful world of dreams, but the silence around felt too ominous. I read it somehwhere that the way to sleep fast is to relax your body and mind so I tried to get in a comfortable position to sleep, I turned my head towards right in one such attempt and on my right I saw a head, a rotten head lying on the floor next to me.
