Chapter 5 - Chapter 5: The Lost Child

Like every morning, this day was just like any other.

Arko was running around the house, making noise, and playing as usual.

He had a cousin sister — his lineage cousin sister — who already had a fiancé.

One day, her fiancé gave her a mobile phone!

In those days, a phone with a camera was a luxury, and their family wasn't in a very good financial state. So everyone was surprised — and a little jealous too.

Later that day, Arko went to his cousin's house. His sister was proudly showing off her new mobile phone. Arko looked at it with shiny eyes and asked,

"Can I touch your phone once?"

His sister smiled and said,

"Okay, but just a little bit! Don't do anything else, alright?"

She handed him the phone — and that was a big mistake.

The moment Arko touched it, he forgot everything she said and started playing games on it.

His sister got angry.

"I told you to just touch it a little bit! Now you're playing games?"

She tried to grab the phone back, but Arko held it tight.

Both of them started pulling it together like a tug-of-war match. Somehow, she managed to take it back.

But Arko wasn't done yet.

"Please! Let me touch it one more time!" he begged.

When she refused, Arko got stubborn. He suddenly snatched the phone from her hand — and when she tried to grab it again, Arko lost his temper and threw the phone on the ground!

The screen cracked. The phone was damaged.

His sister screamed,

"What have you done, you crazy freak! I'll tell your father everything!"

Arko froze. His face turned pale.

He knew he was in big trouble.

As his sister marched angrily toward his house — which was just nearby — Arko's heart started racing. Then he heard his mother shouting,

"Arko! Arko!"

That was it. He panicked and started running.

He didn't know where to go — so he just ran and ran.

He crossed the small fields and reached Kutibari, a nearby area behind the neighborhood where a few houses stood near the trees.

When he finally stopped running, he looked around — he didn't even know where he was anymore.

He didn't want to go home, but he also didn't want to stay lost.

After wandering a bit, he saw a man outside a small house. The man noticed him and asked,

"Hey, who are you, little one?"

Arko replied softly,

"My name is Arko… Arko Singha. My father's name is Ritobroto Singha."

The man immediately recognized the name — of course he did.

It was a village. Everyone knew everyone.

He smiled and said,

"What are you doing here all alone, Arko?"

Arko looked down and mumbled something about "playing and running." The man understood right away that the boy had probably done something naughty.

He laughed and said,

"You must be hungry. Come on, let's eat first."

He took Arko home, introduced him to his own son — a cheerful boy who was one year older than Arko — and the two quickly became friends. They played together and had lunch.

Meanwhile, back home, Arko's family was in full panic mode. His mother and father were searching everywhere for him. Hours passed until finally, someone told them that Arko was seen near Kutibari.

Arko's father, Ritobroto Singha, got on his own bicycle and rushed there as fast as he could.

When he finally found his son, Arko looked up shyly, holding a half-eaten piece of bread.

Without saying a word, his father sighed, smiled slightly, and said,

"Let's go home, you troublemaker."

Arko sat on the back of his father's cycle as they rode home through the evening breeze.

Later, his uncle managed to fix his sister's phone — though the family never forgot "the great phone incident."
