Perhaps many in this world truly fear Mephisto.
Perhaps even the Ancient One would have to show him respect.
However—
Herman was one of the rare few who felt no fear of Mephisto at all. Lord of Hell? At the end of the day, he was nothing more than a Dimensional Demon God.
"Heh."
Herman had no concern for Mephisto's revenge. He knew Mephisto's true body could never descend to Earth.
And if it was only his avatars—Herman could kill however many came.
"I can't say for certain whether my future ends in destruction. But I can say with certainty—today marks the end of yours."
"In the future… you'll be nothing more than forgotten history." The golden light in Herman's eyes blazed brighter and brighter.
"There's one thing you said that I agree with…" His eyes shone like suns, so radiant Blackheart couldn't even look at them.
"Become my nourishment."
Herman returned Blackheart's words to him, unchanged.
The next instant—
Terrifying beams erupted from his eyes, carrying annihilating force as they engulfed and ignited Blackheart's body.
The wilderness lit up once again like day. Blackheart writhed and screamed as golden flames consumed him, dragging him step by step into oblivion.
"Ahhhh!!!"
With his final, anguished roar, his body erupted in one last devastating shockwave before burning away completely.
The ground quaked beneath the impact, trees splintered, and clouds of dust rose into the sky. Yet in the midst of it all, Herman stood firm, unmoving.
"My father will never forgive you!"
Blackheart spat his final curse as the last of his essence burned away. His form crumbled into dust, leaving nothing behind.
Only a wisp of Hell's Origin remained, drifting into Herman's body. Calmly, he accepted it.
The essence became fuel, stoking the golden blaze in his eyes until it burned fiercer than before. With its complete absorption, the once-proud Prince of Hell was erased from existence—leaving not even a trace in this world.
Even if time itself were rewound, Blackheart could never be restored. This was what Herman meant when he said he would become forgotten history.
"I didn't expect… my divinity to be this domineering." Herman reflected, feeling the power rising from the depths of his soul.
Unlike Thor's thunder, Loki's illusions, or the so-called divine powers of other gods, his divinity was something entirely different.
It was a force that would make any god turn pale—God-Eater. As the name implied, it granted Herman the power to slay gods and devour their essence.
Not even demons were exempt.
This was a terrifying power, one that required the lives of gods and demons to forge its foundation, ignite the divine flame, and crown the sovereign of the God-Eaters.
No wonder even Herman found it so overwhelming… Just moments ago, he had used this very power to consume Blackheart's essence.
The divine fire within him swelled severalfold in return. After all, Blackheart was Mephisto's son, born of Mephisto's own hell. If Herman's divinity hadn't been so perfectly attuned to restrain both gods and demons, his victory would never have come so easily.
"I wonder how much of a boost an ordinary demon could provide."
Herman shifted his gaze to Blackheart's three lackeys.
This divinity wasn't without its drawbacks. Each time he ignited the divine flame, a gnawing hunger surged within him—an urge to devour everything in sight. Thankfully, Herman's psychic strength was immense, keeping him from losing himself to that craving.
"We pledge ourselves to you!"
The three demons were already terrified out of their wits.
After seeing Blackheart killed, fleeing never even crossed their minds. They dropped to their knees, bowing to Herman in submission. Truthfully, three elemental demons could have been of some use.
However—
"Sorry. I hate demons."
Herman gave them a look of feigned regret as the golden glow in his eyes burned brighter. The three demons instantly felt the suffocating weight of death closing in.
"We can't just sit here and die!"
Though they knew Herman was a monstrous opponent, with death staring them down, waiting quietly was no longer an option.
The Earth Demon was the first to act. He merged into the ground and, in the next instant, surged up beneath Herman's feet.
"Hm?"
The earth under Herman suddenly turned to sludge.
Two massive hands burst out of the swamp-like ground, clamping around his ankles, trying to drag him under.
Herman only laughed at the ambush.
"I think you have no idea what power really is." He suddenly crouched low and yanked, pulling the Earth Demon straight out of the soil with one hand.
With his divinity ignited, his strength rivaled Thor's. Did some lowly hellspawn really think it could drag him underground?
"Say your farewells to this world."
Golden light surged from Herman's eyes again, flooding the battlefield with radiance as it reduced the panicked Earth Demon to ashes.
A faint wisp of primordial energy flowed into Herman. It was meager, but better than nothing.
He turned his gaze toward the remaining two demons. His eyes now carried the same mocking amusement that they had once used on him.
"Tsk, tsk. Looks like the roles have reversed."
