Chapter 29 - Chapter 29 Sending an Invitation

Outside the Tang family villa.

"Enough."

Tang Chuchu abruptly shook off Jiang Chen's hand, looking at him tearfully. "Jiang Chen, haven't you had enough? This is the Tang family. Grandpa tells you to kneel, so you kneel. Why are you so stubborn?"

"Chuchu, I..."

"Go back on your own."

Tang Chuchu said nothing more, turned around and left, reentering the Tang residence.

Jiang Chen looked helpless.

He, the mighty Black Dragon, had never been treated like this before.

But, for Tang Chuchu's sake, he chose to endure it.

He knew that in Tang Chuchu's eyes, the opinions of her family were paramount. When Tang Chuchu entered again, he didn't chase her, but waited outside the door.

He sat on the steps outside the villa, lit a cigarette, and at the same time, pulled out his phone and called Xiao Hei: "I want to see King Xiaoyao."

Now all he could do was get Chuchu an invitation.

That way, Chuchu's status in the family would rise, and that would make her happy.

Xiao Hei quickly called back, "Brother Jiang, it's already been arranged. King Xiaoyao will come to see you in person. You tell me the time."

"Tonight, Central Garden."

"Yes, I'll call King Xiaoyao right back."

After speaking with Xiao Hei, Jiang Chen waited outside. The Tang family meeting lasted for over an hour.

After an hour, the Tang family members left one after another, and Tang Chuchu and her family also emerged.

The entire family had stern faces, and He Yanmei even berated Jiang Chen, urging him to divorce her.

Tang Song was the most angry.

His father's shares would definitely be transferred to him in the future.

Now, because of Jiang Chen, Tang Tianlong had taken back half of his shares—tens of millions.

"You're such a loser! You're only capable of causing trouble." Tang Song glared at Jiang Chen.

"Okay, stop blaming Jiang Chen. He was just trying to help me out of kindness." Tang Chuchu had calmed down. She had been too impulsive before, and now, thinking about it, she felt quite sorry for Jiang Chen. He had stood up for her, and she'd blamed him.

Jiang Chen smiled and said, "Chuchu, it's okay. Don't worry. I'll definitely get you an invitation to the Tang family, and your status in the family will rise."

No one believed him.

"If you do it again, I won't forgive you." He Yanmei cursed, then turned and left.

Back home, the whole family disliked Jiang Chen.

Jiang Chen stood alone on the balcony, smoking.

Tang Bo approached, "Jiang Chen, don't take it personally. You'll get used to it."

Jiang Chen glanced at his father-in-law, Tang Bo, but said nothing. He was perhaps the only person in the world so cowardly.

Tang Bo tactfully remained silent.

Jiang Chen had stayed home all day, cleaning and cooking, enjoying a leisurely time. He didn't care what the Tang family thought of him; he only cared about Tang Chuchu.

In the evening, Jiang Chen found an excuse to go out.

Downtown, Central Garden.

In a pavilion.

Two people sat there.

"Did you kill Xiao Zhan?"

"Yes."

Faced with King Xiaoyao's questioning, Jiang Chen didn't deny it. "He deserves to die, and so do the Xiao family."

King Xiaoyao frowned, then asked, "What's the matter with meeting me this time?"

"Nothing serious. The Tang family wants an invitation to your succession ceremony. Send someone to deliver one."

With that, Jiang Chen stood up and was about to leave.

Although he was on the same level as King Xiaoyao, he had never taken him seriously.

Not only King Xiaoyao, but even if the other four generals were gathered together, he wouldn't necessarily take them seriously.

"Wait." King Xiaoyao called out, stopping Jiang Chen as he was about to leave.

"Hmm?" Jiang Chen stopped and looked at him. "What? Is there anything else?"

"Xiao Zhan was my subordinate." King Xiaoyao was furious. Xiao Zhan was his subordinate, and now Jiang Chen had killed him, and Jiang Chen hadn't even offered an explanation.

"So what?" Jiang Chen's expression was cold.

"You won't give me an explanation?"

"I told you, he deserves to die. I'm not begging you for an invitation. If you want, give it to me. If not, forget it."

With that, Jiang Chen turned and walked away.

After he left, a man emerged from the darkness.

"Your Majesty, isn't he too arrogant?"

King Xiaoyao paused slightly, giving a wry smile. "That's just the way he is. Forget me, even if the Emperor himself came, he wouldn't necessarily take us seriously. Let's just leave this matter alone. Xiao Zhan has truly brought this upon himself. Go to the Tang family in person and deliver an invitation."

The man, unwilling to accept this, asked, "Your Majesty, are we just going to let it go?"

King Xiaoyao glanced at him and said, "What else can we do? Kill him? He's submitted his resignation, but it hasn't been approved yet. And he's the Black Dragon, the commander of the million-strong Black Dragon Army. While he's been the commander the shortest, the other four armies combined might not even rival the Black Dragon Army. And with him at the head of the Black Dragon Army, he's held in high regard by the higher-ups."

"Yes, I'll go to the Tang family right away," the man said without further ado.

"Alas," King Xiaoyao sighed. "The reorganization of the Five Districts has thrust me into the spotlight again."

Originally, this position wouldn't have fallen to him, but Black Dragon, perceptive and aware of the impending plan, had resigned early.

Meanwhile, outside the Tang family villa,

A jeep drove up, and several men in battle uniforms alighted. They arrived at the Tang family's door and knocked.

Tang Tianlong, having seen the military arrival on the surveillance footage, immediately opened the door and greeted them. "General, what's going on?"

Xiao Zhan's last experience had left a deep impression on him, and he was worried about another accident, so he asked cautiously.

A middle-aged man in battle uniforms produced an exquisite invitation and handed it to Tang Tianlong, saying, "Invitation to the King Xiaoyao Succession Ceremony."

Tang Tianlong shuddered.

Invitation?

"Tang Tianlong, you have a wonderful grandson-in-law."

The middle-aged man in a battle robe said this and turned to leave.

Tang Tianlong stared at the invitation in his hand, momentarily stunned.

"Grandpa, what's wrong?" Tang Mengying stepped out.

"The Western Frontier Army sent the invitation." Tang Tianlong was dazed.

"Ah, so fast, Grandpa! I wasn't kidding, was I? I told you Liu Chong would take care of this. Look, it's only been half a day, and the Liu family has stepped in and arranged for the Western Frontier Army to personally deliver the invitation."

Liu Chong stepped out and asked, "Mengying, what's up? You're so happy?"

"Thank you, dear." Tang Mengying kissed Liu Chong on the cheek. "Thank you for having the Liu family step in and secure the invitation for the Tang family."

"..."

Liu Chong was a little confused.

The Liu family stepped in?

He had indeed told his father about this, but his father was still worried. He had given numerous gifts to influential figures in order to secure an invitation, and all in all, it had cost him tens of millions.

How did this help the Tang family secure an invitation?

He was a little confused, but a smug look on his face as he said, "With my Liu family's involvement, getting an invitation is easy."

"Liu Chong, thank you, thank you so much! You're truly a wonderful grandson-in-law." Tang Tianlong also realized what was happening, and he couldn't stop smiling.

The person who delivered the invitation mentioned that he had a wonderful grandson-in-law.

He was certain it was Liu Chong, because among the other grandsons-in-law, Liu Chong had the most distinguished family background.

"My dear grandson-in-law, come in and sit down. I'll give you a big red envelope later, and you can take it back to your father as a thank you for getting an invitation from the Tang family."
