Chapter 8 - A new skill with a new battle

At the Edge of the Temple of Lost Memories → The Real World

The light from the Mirror Realm fades.

Silence follows — deep, sacred silence.

Jaswant feels the weight of his body return, breath slowing, the echo of divine energy still burning inside. The stairway of light beneath him dissolves, and suddenly — his feet touch solid earth.

He opens his eyes.

Before him lies the world he had left behind — the real world, bathed in golden dawn. The air smells of dust and rain. The once-ruined valley of his memories stretches endlessly, scarred yet alive.

For a long moment, Jaswant simply stands — motionless.

The temple behind him, the trials, the voices — all gone.

Only stillness remains.

"So… this is what peace feels like."

As he after coming out, he felt truly light for the first time — as if he had been freed from a great burden.

But that relief didn't last long.

Just as he began to feel the joy of completing the trial, a sudden surge of electricity shot through his right arm. His whole body shuddered with the shock, a sharp wave of pain burning through every vein. His right hand gradually started to go numb — as though it no longer belonged to him.

He felt something strange in his palm. Trembling, he turned his right hand over with his left — and froze in shock.

His palm was writhing, as if something inside was trying to break free. Panic and pain hit him at once; Jaswant fell to his knees, screaming in agony.

Before he could make sense of it, his palm split open with a sharp crack. Terrified, Jaswant stumbled backward — but to his astonishment, no blood poured out.

Instead, a radiant golden light burst forth from his hand!

The glow was so intense that he couldn't see anything through it.

Gradually, the golden brilliance began to fade, dimming little by little until it softened into a faint shimmer.

Now, dark lines appeared on his palm — like the markings of some ancient, mysterious map.

And then… when the light vanished completely, Jaswant's eyes widened in disbelief — there was now a tiny door carved into his palm!

That door looked exactly like the Temple of Memories, only shrunken down to the size of a pea.

The moment Jaswant recognized the shape, a holographic window appeared before him, displaying glowing lines of information.

"Congratulations, Host! You have unlocked a Space-type Ability."

[Ability: Temple of lost Memories]

[Function: This ability allows the host to store or imprison anyone's memories within the temple.]

[Origin: The temple is originally belongs to the Amravati — The City of Heaven]

[Note: This temple is a small fragment of the Amravati City. To fully unlock the city as well as the ability, the host must discover its remaining parts and conquer their respective trials.

As more sections of Amravati are connected, your Space-type ability will continue to grow stronger and more powerful.]

Jaswant was quite astonished to learn about this new ability. The more he discovered about it, the more amazed and thrilled he felt. This ability seemed a bit different from his other powers.

Although it was currently at a low level, its potential to grow stronger was immense — and its use was nothing short of extraordinary.

With this ability, Jaswant could erase anyone's memories at will — and the person wouldn't even realize it. He didn't yet know what the drawbacks were, but the advantages were plenty.

For instance, he could separate any memory from someone's mind. And if someone ever discovered one of his secrets — something he wanted to hide — he could imprison that memory, ensuring that no one would ever find out the truth.

Before Jaswant could analyze this ability further, a harsh, grating noise shattered his focus. Suddenly, a red portal opened in the sky, and from it emerged Kaalkeya — a muscular personality, with a savage expression, looking like a tribal warrior who worshipped dark forces.

The Kaalkeya were a kind of demonic beings ( with humanoid characters), resembling humans in appearance but far more ferocious and destructive. Although they ranked below the Asuras, they were still a massive threat to humans. The Kaalkeya were a race that served under the Asura clan, acting as their underlings and carrying out their commands.

The roar of the Kaalkeya was so ferocious that its shockwave unleashed a violent storm, tearing through everything around it. The surroundings were left in utter devastation — as if a great battle had just taken place there.

Even its mere presence had thrown the entire area into chaos, and if it decided to attack, there was no one strong enough to stop it.

Soon, Jaswant could hear the monster's voice more clearly — a deep, thunderous growl that echoed through the air:

"Where is that Nameless God who dares to dream of becoming a god himself? Today, I will kill him and take his place. I will become God!"

At that moment, Jaswant's system flashed a warning across his vision, startling and alarming him both. When he opened the message, it revealed details about the creature —

Kaalkeya Monster

[Type: Demonic, Genderless Demonic Being]

[Age: 300 years]

[Warning: Seeks to devour the divinity of the Unknown/Nameless God]

Meanwhile, not far from there, the world felt entirely different — calm, almost serene. In a small marketplace, a young woman wandered near a shop, admiring the trinkets and colors around her. She looked otherworldly — with eyes like a doe, long black hair cascading like midnight silk, and a presence so graceful it was as if a celestial being had stepped down to earth. She smiled, lost in the simple joy of the moment — until a sudden shriek shattered the calm. Her communicator alarm blared loudly, slicing through the air.

Her expression changed instantly. She checked her communicator, and a flashing message froze her in place:

"Warning: A Silver-Level Kaalkeya monster has appeared nearby."

A chill ran down her spine. "A Kaalkeya… here? That's impossible. Those things are deadly — I have to see what's happening." Without wasting a second, she sprinted toward the coordinates, her heart pounding as she cut through the narrow streets. It would take her four to five minutes to reach the area, and she knew every second could mean lives lost.

Meanwhile, chaos had erupted at the site of the monster's arrival. People screamed, running in every direction as the ground trembled under the Kaalkeya's presence. Amid the stampede, a small girl stumbled and fell. When she turned, her eyes widened in horror — the monster had fully emerged. Its massive form loomed closer, each step heavy with death. She was frozen, too terrified to move, her body locked in place like a statue.

Seeing this, Jaswant didn't hesitate. He dashed forward, instincts overriding thought, and threw himself in front of the child. Wrapping his arms around her, he shielded her completely as the monster roared and launched its attack.

The air vibrated with the force of the blow. Jaswant turned slightly, eyes squeezed shut — and then, the sound of something slicing through the wind echoed like thunder. For a heartbeat, there was silence. Then, cautiously, Jaswant opened his eyes.

"And what he saw before him… left him utterly speechless."

---

Jaswant was standing perfectly unharmed in front of him. At that moment, the monster's attack had frozen in the air, as if some unseen force was preventing it from striking. Seeing this, Jaswant mustered his courage and immediately got up, driving the girl away to safety.

But before he could escape himself, with a cracking sound, the pieces of the shield shattered. Seeing this, Jaswant shivered in fear. Yet, before the monster could launch its next attack, a girl suddenly appeared in front of him, delivering an electric strike to the monster.

The shockwave from this sudden attack pushed the monster a few steps back. But as the mist cleared, the girl was shocked to see that the monster was completely unharmed. Feeling the immense power of the monster standing before her, the girl hurriedly told Jaswant to move away:

"I think you need to get out of here as quickly as possible. I won't be able to hold it for long with my little strength."

Saying this, she launched another electric bolt at the monster's feet to try and slow it down. But it had no effect. The monster charged at the girl with even greater speed, striking her and sending her sliding backward.

As she was thrown away, the monster once again advanced toward Jaswant and aimed a punch at him. But before the punch could land, an invisible wall stopped its strike mid-air.

Seeing its attack being blocked again, the monster growled in anger and broke through the invisible wall with a second attack. As the wall collapsed, the girl crashed into the debris, coughing up blood. Jaswant was terrified at the sight.

"Before he could reach her, the monster blocked his path once again."

Being stopped again, Jaswant was now in a dilemma. He couldn't understand whether to save himself first or the girl who had risked her life to save him. How would Jaswant be able to save himself from death?
