Chapter 7 - FAKE MARRIAGE

Gustavo knocked with little effort on the door and went in immediately, Gabriel was standing in front of his window looking outside.

"Which means he must have seen us when we arrived." I thought to myself

He wore a casual white T-shirt and black short pants exposing his long, fresh limbs from behind, that were glistening from the sun coming in through the window.

"How can someone be this simple and still look so sexy even from behind."

Gustavo closing the door brought me out of my thoughts. He motioned for me to enter inside further and gave me a nod before heading out leaving me alone with Gabriel and images of my dream running through my head.

Gabriel instinctively turned around, his eyes focused on me, unreadable and intense, like he was trying to decide whether to trust me or devour me. I took a deep breath and decided to say something first.

"You didn't give me time to decide." I said folding my arms

"You were taking too long." He said and started walking towards me with a slow deliberate stride that made the space between us feel charged. I didn't want to step back so I wouldn't give the impression that he had an effect on me whatsoever.

"It's been barely 24 hours Mr Torres." I said keenly. He was already close, too close. His presence wrapped around me like smoke, seductive and impossible to look away. His gaze met mine sharp and steady with a seductive smile on his face as if he knew the kind of effect he had on me and wasn't afraid to use it.

"I couldn't wait for that long." He whispered softly.

"I..I…I." I stuttered and immediately cleared my throat. My voice was barely steady. He was too close for comfort. I immediately took a step back and kept a straight face.

"Let's talk about the pay." I said firmly lifting my chin up ignoring the weak knees and heat rising in my chest.

 " I have a better offer."

His words took me by surprise and brow creased in confusion. What could me better than ten thousand dollars every week.

"I will offer you 10 million dollars for you to bear a child for me." His voice was low and deliberate like he wasn't making a request but something he had already decided and was sure to carry out.

I freezed at the spot, different emotions running through my mind. My heart felt like it was racing.

"What?" That was the only word that made its way through my mouth.

"No one has to know. To them you will be my babysitter until you bear a child for me, then you will have to sign a marriage agreement to leave after a year and 6 months." He continued like he wasn't seeing the amount of disbelief and confusion I had all over my face.

A fake marriage just to bear a child. It was worse than the arranged marriage my parents had. The loud screams and pleads I would hear sometimes and different ladies coming in and leaving the house while my mum would do nothing but cry.

I could still remember the late nights she would come to my room holding me in her arms sobbing and caressing my cheeks. "I'm not going to lose you my Lea-bee." She would mutter and then fall asleep beside me.

My mind came back to the present and Gabriel was still there standing in front of me staring down at me. He was much taller than I was. His eyes pierced through mine. The only thing I wanted to do at that moment was to slap him across the face, something I wished my mum would have done to my dad once in a while.

Tears escaped from my eyes, before I could stop it. Gabriel had just reminded me why I hated men and more reasons to hate them. And the last thing I wanted to do was to be seen vulnerable around them.

Gabriel's stern and unreadable expression didn't change. He took a step back, went to his drawer, and brought out a blank check and stretched it out for me to take it.

I wiped the tears from my eyes and forced a shaky breath, without a word I turned around to leave his study.

"You can't buy everything with your money. Mr Torres." I said before shutting the door. I caught a glimpse of surprise on his face before the door shut completely.

Gustavo was in the sitting room whispering something to Alex making him giggle. His voice was innocent and pure. Why would Gabriel want another child after Alex?

Gustavo quickly stood up after seeing me adjusting his suit that was still neatly fitted to his body. He cleared his throat, excused himself and left for Gabriel's study. The look on my face was very obvious that things didn't go well. For a moment I was happy I hadn't put on any makeup.

Alex ran up to me, his smile spreading across his face.

"Is it time for my bath yet?" He said happily holding on to my knee grinning from ear to ear.

I let out a faint smile, "of course not it's barely noon pumpkin and I suppose you've had your bath this morning". I said trying to hide the tears and rage from my face

"I have to go now…I have things to do." I said gently pulling him away from my knees.

"Will I see you tomorrow Leah?" He said softly his smile never leaving his face.

"Definitely."I lied, After everything that had just happened I knew I was never going to step my foot near this premises. I suddenly remembered the envelope containing the ten thousand dollars he had given me on our not so very nice first meeting.

I dropped it on the marble table in the middle of the sitting room and left before I did something I was going to regret.
