Chapter 9 - The end of a hero

The battlefield was nothing but shattered planets and burning skies. The stars above flickered like dying embers, swallowed by the monstrous form of the Galactic Serpent. Its scales shimmered with cosmic light, each one brighter than a sun, its eyes two collapsing black holes of hatred. The Masked Chargers stood among the ruins of fallen titans, their armor cracked, their spirits wavering—but not broken. "That thing… it's a god," whispered one Charger, clutching his broken weapon. The Teacher, bleeding and barely standing, slammed his hand on the ground. "Then we'll summon gods to fight gods."

A dozen summoning belts glowed at once, lines of pure light tracing sigils into the void. The earth trembled—what was left of it—when portals burst open. A roar echoed first, thunderous and primal. Godzilla emerged from the crimson void, his dorsal fins burning blue, his breath churning with atomic fire. From another portal descended Ultraman, his hands crossed before unleashing a beam that split through asteroids.

Then the air shimmered—Ant-Man expanded to the size of a skyscraper beside Waybig, who cracked his fists together with a thunderous grin. Gipsy Danger landed from orbit, slamming into the debris field with his twin blades drawn, neon light slicing through the dark. Ninetails burst from a seal of flame, tails swirling like galaxies, while Liberty Prime stomped in, waving the American flag with a metallic roar: "DEMOCRACY IS NON-NEGOTIABLE."

And still, the serpent laughed—a guttural, celestial echo that cracked the stars themselves. "You bring your toys to face a god?" Its voice was like thunder across the cosmos. The heroes didn't answer. They charged.

Godzilla roared and fired his atomic breath, Ultraman slicing alongside with a cross slash of energy. The serpent coiled, dodging like lightning, one tail slamming into Waybig and sending him tumbling through a fragment of the moon. Gipsy Danger caught him with one arm, thrusters igniting to push back, blades grinding against cosmic scales. Sparks of light, fire, and antimatter filled the battlefield.

"GO, GO, POWER RANGERS!" echoed a synchronized cry as the Power Rangers merged into their Megazord, landing a punch that actually cracked one of the serpent's scales. Kamen Riders rode through the air, bikes glowing as they leaped into spinning Rider Kicks that exploded across its hide. Yet every time they struck, the creature's wounds shimmered and closed.

"Kenta! Haruto! Elyra!" the Teacher shouted through comms, voice distorted. "Coordinate with the summons—aim for the chest where its heart beats strongest!"

Kenta roared, his Chainsaw Man form sparking to life, blades screeching as he leapt across floating debris, slicing through a comet. Elyra, glowing in her Saber form, followed with golden light bursting from her sword. Airi, still in her Idol form, began to sing, her voice creating shockwaves of resonance that empowered them all. Lilith, now in Cartoon form, leapt through animated portals, conjuring explosive mallets and throwing stars drawn straight from her imagination.

Haruto, breathing heavily, activated his Seven Samurai armor, seven spectral warriors appearing around him. "Let's end this," he growled, charging forward. The samurai spirits slashed in unison, cutting through one of the serpent's smaller heads. It shrieked, the sound shaking worlds.

Then came the next wave—new portals ripping through space. From the divine mists stepped Kratos, blades of chaos burning with godly fire. Doomguy loaded his super shotgun, cracking his neck. Masterchief scanned the creature with his visor, marking targets. Dante spun his Rebellion sword and smirked, "Big snake, huh? I've fought worse."

The ground trembled again as Space Marines from Warhammer dropped in formation, bolters ready. Helldivers landed next, shouting, "For Super Earth!" while opening fire with railguns. From the skies descended Caelus and Aether, their elemental powers colliding into twin storms of Anemo and Geo. Rover rose beside them, manipulating the ground to rise as platforms.

The heroes all moved together like a storm. Kratos leapt first, slamming his Blades of Chaos into the serpent's neck, ripping a molten wound. Doomguy vaulted off a collapsing asteroid, ripping open a demon portal just to launch himself at the beast with a Crucible blade. Dante fired Ebony and Ivory in rapid rhythm, bullets igniting like fireworks. Masterchief aimed a Spartan laser, charging it before releasing a red-hot beam that carved through the serpent's side.

"KEEP PUSHING!" Elyra shouted, her Excalibur glowing brighter than ever. She swung in perfect arcs, holy light cutting through shadows. Airi's singing intensified, her notes weaving a protective barrier around them. Kenta revved his chainsaw, jumped onto the serpent's back, and tore through its scales with roaring fury.

Godzilla joined in again, his atomic beam locking with Ultraman's energy slash, both aimed at the creature's chest. Gipsy Danger followed up with a double blade strike. Liberty Prime hurled a nuclear warhead shouting, "EMBRACE LIBERTY!" as it detonated against the serpent's head. The blast rocked the heavens.

But still—it wasn't enough.

The serpent screeched, energy building in its mouth. "ENOUGH!" it thundered. Its entire body ignited, scales burning with the power of dying suns. A massive Solar Flare erupted from its maw, a blinding wave of annihilation sweeping across the battlefield.

"SHIELD YOURSELVES!" the Teacher shouted—but there was no time. Haruto saw it first, felt the heat burning his armor away. His friends screamed through comms. Elyra reached out to him. "HARUTO, NO!"

He didn't hesitate. He planted his sword into the ground, channeling every ounce of his Seven Samurai form. The spectral warriors appeared again—this time, kneeling beside him. "If this is the end," he whispered, "then I'll face it standing."

The solar flare struck. The samurai spirits formed a dome, Haruto at the center, taking the brunt of the energy. His armor cracked, his vision blurring. Pain tore through every cell, every nerve. He screamed—but he held the line. Behind him, he could hear Airi's sobbing, Kenta shouting his name, Elyra's desperate plea, the Teacher's broken orders.

The flare ended. The serpent recoiled, smoke rising from its mouth. The others stood, barely alive, shielded by Haruto's sacrifice. His armor was gone now, just scorched fragments left clinging to his body. He fell to his knees, smiling faintly.

Kenta ran to him, catching him before he hit the ground. "Haruto! Hey! Stay with me, man!" Haruto weakly chuckled, his eyes dim but calm. "Guess… I finally did something right, huh?" Elyra fell beside him, clutching his hand, trembling. "Idiot… you always do this… why now?"

The serpent roared again, retreating for now, its body still burning from the assault. The Teacher ordered a retreat, but no one moved. The battlefield was silent, only the faint hum of energy and the echoes of dying gods remained.

Haruto's head fell against Kenta's shoulder. "Protect… everyone…" His words faded with his breath. Airi dropped to her knees, tears spilling down her face. Elyra screamed into the void, her Saber sword trembling with power. Even the summons bowed their heads—Kratos lowering his weapon, Doomguy looking away, Godzilla releasing a mournful rumble.

The Teacher stood there in silence, the battlefield around them glowing with the light of fading stars. "A hero," he whispered, "who burned brighter than the sun."

And in the distance, the Galactic Serpent slithered back into its portal, roaring into the cosmos. "You have slain one of your own… and I will remember it when the end comes."

The light faded. The heroes stood in ruins. And so, ended the tale of a thousand heroes—and the one who gave his life so they could see another dawn.
