The scene cuts to villagers screaming that another demon encounter has been spotted. Chaos spreads as people rush to hide inside their homes.
Tara comes out of the haveli and quickly forms a plan to surround the dark and lonely routes of the town, as those are the places where most incidents have been reported.
The guards quickly spread out across the town.
Suddenly, someone screaming for help enters the scene, carrying the same traveler who first encountered the demon. He shouts desperately, begging for help to save the traveler's life.
Person: Someone help!! I found another injured person!!
Tara and Prabhas rush to him and see an injured man hanging over his back.
Tara: Who is this!?
Person: This must be another traveler who was attacked by the demon. I found him lying on a dark route, with blood pouring out.
Prabhas: We need to get a medic here immediately! Guards! Bring the nearest medic quickly!
Guards: Yes, Ma'am!
Tara begins examining the wounds.
(Tara's thoughts)These wounds don't look like they were caused by magic or a demon… They look like weapon injuries.
Tara: Get me a wet cloth quickly! We need to cover the bleeding before there's too much blood loss!
One guard quickly tears his own cloth and wets it at a nearby well. His name is Satyadhara.
Satyadhara (सत्यधार)Meaning: "Bearer of truth / holder of integrity."
Satyadhara: Here, Devi.
Tara: Thank you.
She quickly tries to stop the bleeding with the wet cloth.
One of the guards returns with a medic.
Medic: What happened to him?
Tara: He's a traveler. He was attacked on his way to the town.
Medic: Was it the demon people are talking about?
Tara: I'm not sure if it was a demon or a human, but the wounds look like they were made by a weapon.
Medic: I see. Checks his pulse. He's still alive. We still have some time. Take him to my room immediately!
The scene shifts to the past, when Tara and Prabhas were talking inside the haveli.
Prabhas: So..? What plan do you have for the ghosts of this town? Will you fight ghosts?
Tara: Well… I don't actually have a plan…
Prabhas:(awkwardly) So, are you planning to die here or stay here forever? Well… if you want to stay here forever, then maybe… you can live with me. (side eye)
Tara:(in her mind, irritated) What does he mean by that… (⊙_⊙;)
Tara: It's more like a gamble.
Prabhas: What do you mean by that?
Tara: I'm not sure… but my grandma once told me a story similar to this case when I was a child.
The scene shifts back to the current scene.
One Kotwal comes running toward them.
Kotwal: Report! Report!
Tara: Who is that person running toward us?
Prabhas: That's the Kotwal of our town.
Kotwal:(exhausted) We are in danger! Many incidents involving Brahmarakshas are suddenly being reported in the town! We are truly doomed! The Brahmarakshas is not happy with the presence of a state official here!
Prabhas:(angrily) What are you talking about!?
Kotwal: It's true… The victims are saying that the Brahmarakshas is telling them to kick the state official out of the town…
Prabhas: Huh…
Tara thinks deeply.
Kotwal:(angrily pointing at Tara) This!! This is because of her!! Kick her out of the town!
Tara's royal guards step between the Kotwal and Tara to protect her.
Guard: How dare you speak like this to the state official!
Kotwal: All of us will die if she stays here! Get her out!
The Kotwal kneels in front of Tara.
Kotwal: Please!! Go away from this town and leave us alone!!
Tara continues thinking, without saying a word.
The scene shifts back to the past, when Tara and Prabhas were talking.
Prabhas: So, what is your grandma's story?
Tara: There was once a very big and old haveli owned by my grandma's father.
After his death, the property was supposed to be divided between his sons. But none of them agreed to live together, so it was clear that the haveli would go to one son. Both of them argued over it, as they were greedy.
My grandma could only watch them fight. Since she couldn't inherit the property, only a small portion was meant for her.
As the brothers couldn't reach a solution, the haveli was locked and abandoned.
Later, one of the sons went to court to settle the dispute.
Since the haveli had been abandoned for years, it automatically came under state authority, and both sons lost their rights. The local administrator organized a bidding for the haveli.
Both sons tried their best, but the price went so high that neither could afford it. Even then, they couldn't decide who should own it.
Because the price became too high, no one in the town could afford the haveli, even though it was huge and luxurious.
In anger, both sons decided to work together to lower its value.
Prabhas: What does this story have to do with our situation? It doesn't relate to us at all.
Tara: Just keep listening.
The scene shifts back to the current situation.
Tara: We actually have a plan to deal with this demon or ghost.
Prabhas:(whispering) We do…?
Tara: Shh. Stay quiet.
Kotwal:(hesitantly) They have a plan? What plan do they have… I must report this to Dhank Raj.
Kotwal: What is your plan, Lady?
Tara: That's a secret for now. (¬_¬") (She doesn't actually have a plan.)
Kotwal:(in his mind) Damn it.
Tara: Go do your job. Make sure all victims receive medical help.
Kotwal: Yes, ma'am.
The Kotwal leaves in a frustrated manner.
Prabhas: So… what plan do we have..? ಠಿ_ಠ
Tara: Umm… we're going to send you alone to a dark, lonely route as a traveler.
Prabhas: You want to sacrifice me to the Brahmarakshas!? 〒▽〒
Tara: Not sacrifice!!! Remember the grandma's story I told you?
Prabhas: Are we sure that story applies to our situation too..? 〒▽〒
Tara: Well… we'll have to find out.
Prabhas: I'm definitely going to die today… 〒▽〒
Tara: (ˉ▽ ̄~)
The scene shifts to the Kotwal.
Kotwal: Damn it… I couldn't get that lady kicked out of the town, nor could I find out her plan…
Suddenly, the two merchants from earlier appear.
Dhan Raj: Well, well, well… my loyal dog. Did you complete the task you were given?
Kotwal:(scared) Erm… actually… I wasn't able to retrieve any information…
Dhan Raj:giggles So… you failed to do what we told you to do, huh…?
