Masal tried to escape Bartu's arms slightly, her eyes were shining with anger: Masal: "Bartu! Let me go!" Bartu's breath caught, his heart felt like it had been torn apart. Anger and helplessness mixed together, he felt like he was going mad. Suddenly he held Masal tighter, looked into her eyes and Bartu: "Masal... you don't understand! Your anger... the way you look at me... drives me crazy! I didn't betray you! I tried to protect you! That's the only reason I hid everything!" Masal turned her eyes to him, her voice trembling: Masal: "Protection? Isn't this betrayal, Bartu? You dragged my whole life into your secret world and hid everything from me." Bartu: "I hid... but so as not to lose you! In every darkness around me, in every mistake I made... I left a light for you! Masal, I love you, I did it so as not to lose you!" Masal could not hold back her tears, anger and resentment mixed together.
Bartu still wouldn't let her go, because he knew that if he lost, he would lose himself completely. Masal: "Bartu... whatever you do, it won't pass without making you feel the pain of this betrayal. But... maybe... maybe I can stay with you, if you are completely honest with me." Bartu bit his lips, his eyes filled with tears. Masal's words had ignited a glimmer of hope on the brink of anger and pain. Without a second thought, Bartu hugged Masal tightly. Masal waited a moment, but then, unable to resist, she kissed Bartu back. Bartu whispered in his ear, "I love you, Masal, I love you so much." Masal smiled softly. "I love you too, Bartu, but know this: if you hide one more thing from me, everything will be over." The first light of morning filtered through the curtainless window of the hut. When Masal opened his eyes, the rain had been replaced by a heavy silence.
For a moment, he tried to figure out where he was, then he noticed Bartu's room, mingled with the smell of cigarette smoke. When he turned his head, he saw Bartu's eyes on him. "It's morning," Masal said, his voice still soft with sleep. Bartu couldn't hide the hard line that appeared at the corners of his lips. "Yes… and a new day has begun for us, Masal. A harder, more dangerous day." Masal slowly sat up. "Bartu, why don't you tell me everything? I have the right to know what we're getting ourselves into." Bartu fell silent, that familiar darkness shining in his eyes. He approached her, gently holding Masal's chin, and looked into her eyes. "Knowing will make you even more of a target.
But… I can tell you this: My enemies now want not only me, but you as well. Because you are my heart's only weak spot." Masal shivered, but she wasn't afraid. The words that escaped her lips like a whisper surprised Bartu: "Then let me be your weakness. But never fear, because I will be by your side." Bartu couldn't resist Masal's brave words. He pulled her close, resting his forehead against Masal's. He found a moment of peace along with the anger and desire to protect burning inside him. At that moment, a phone call broke the silence. Bartu sat up quickly and looked at the call, his eyes narrowed. "Are they…" he muttered. Masal looked at him anxiously. "Who are they?" Bartu grabbed his gun, a determined expression etched on his face. "The time for hiding is over, Masal. The war begins now." Masal's heart began to beat rapidly. The determination in Bartu's eyes was both frightening and reassuring. "Bartu… are they coming here?" he asked in a low voice. Bartu grabbed Masal's hand, gripping her fingers tightly. "Yes, but they won't find you here. I will hide you. They want me, not you." Masal shook his head. "No! I'm here too. I'll be by your side." Just then, the sound of tires braking on the slippery ground outside the hut was heard.
Then, heavy footsteps echoed in front of the door. Bartu quickly lifted Masal from the edge of the bed and guided her to a secret door in the corner of the room. The small hut had a narrow passage hidden in the floor. "Get out of here; there's a path down to the forest. I'll follow," he said urgently. Masal couldn't hold back her tears. "What if anything happens to you?" Bartu touched his forehead to her lips, feeling her breath. "It won't. Because I have to come back to see you." The door began to be forced open violently. The metal bolt rattled. Bartu pushed Masal down the passage, took one last look at her, and closed the door. As Masal made her way down the dark passage, gunshots and the sound of breaking wood rose from above.
