Chapter 8 - Level Five Mutant

"Can someone tell me what's going on here?" Akhil asked.

He could ignore a fight between adults, but he definitely couldn't let them kill a kid—simply because of a little quarrel between their circle.

He still had no idea what was going on.

He looked at the man, who had two scars cutting across his face, giving him a menacing look.

The man licked his lips menacingly as he looked at Akhil.

"Seems we have another stone boy here," the man said as he raised his hands, conjuring flames.

Akhil looked at the flames, unperturbed.

Suddenly, a notification appeared in front of him.

{Storyline: The orcs have been maltreated since the Great Transmission.

The first quest has been passed. The orcs have failed to build their new civilization.

They are being picked on by the other races.

The others fear that they would be a potential threat to them.

And have now come to destroy the weak orcs.

When all hope was lost, an orc that had yet to be seen within the homeland appears.

The new orc helps the orc race build their civilization and lead them to greater heights.}

{Second Scenario: The Unknown Orc}

{Take the attackers out of the orc settlement}

{Difficulty: E}

Akhil looked at the system quest in bewilderment.

He didn't know much about what had happened while he was out cold, but from the looks of things, he had missed the first general quest.

And now, somehow, he found himself in the middle of a scenario.

Similar to the task he had received—unknown to him, his enemies had gotten the opposite task.

{Stop the Unknown Orc}

{Difficulty: C}

The man still had flames in his hands, and a look of surprise appeared on his face as he saw the new notification pop up in front of him.

"Look what we have here! A scenario? To kill this little runt." A wicked grin spread across the man's face as he turned his attention to Akhil.

"The system must be glitching, making this task a C-rank. Dealing with a little kid shouldn't be so hard," the scar-faced man said.

Akhil didn't fail to hear him. 'So, if I'm not wrong, the system assigns different tasks to the participating teams and also shows different difficulty levels based on their strength,' Akhil weighed his thoughts.

He wasn't oblivious to things like this.

He had read several webcomics and light novels, so the concept wasn't entirely new to him.

But he couldn't help but ask himself, 'Am I that strong? Could it be my second ability? I couldn't use it in my other form as a mosquito… But what if I can—'

His thoughts were cut off without warning when the man hurled several balls of flames at him.

The flames blasted him, hitting him from several angles.

Yet, he remained unharmed.

The man frowned, pouring more energy into forming an even larger ball of flames.

He hurled the blast straight at Akhil, breathing heavily.

Yet, to his surprise, Akhil was still totally unharmed.

'What level mutant is he?' the man wondered, completely confused.

But there was no way to know.

{Character Info}

He immediately used the system's appraisal skill.

{Mutant Level: 5}

"A level five mutant?! How?!" the man shouted, falling on his butt.

He scrambled frantically, trying to get away from Akhil as quickly as he could, acting as though he had just seen a ghost.

Without wasting any time, he found his footing and dashed toward their leader.

Just then, the leader threw a kick at Nibo, sending him crashing into the dirt.

The sturdy man stood tall with his mechanical arms.

He shifted his eyes across the field, having received a notification from the system.

He turned his gaze to locate the target.

A dark smile formed on his face as his eyes landed on Akhil.

"A scrawny kid? Not only do we get good rewards from the guild, the system will also give us some good rewards if we take him down."

The man looked at Akhil, his eyes shining with greed.

But before he could make a move, one of his men ran up to him.

"Sir Brix, a level five mutant is here with them!"

The leader, Brix, looked at the man, startled.

"Where?! Where are they?!"

He turned his head, scanning the area, searching for the level five mutant.

"He's there!" The scarred man pointed straight at Akhil, who stared at them blankly.

Brix froze for a moment, sizing up Akhil.

He had a small stature and pale green skin, a distinct feature from all the other orcs.

And not just that—he seemed to be the most handsome male orc they had come across.

But that was all.

His small stature made him look… weak.

"Are you joking?" Brix asked with loud, hearty laughter.

"No, sir, I swear on my life. Check with the system!" the man said, his voice full of panic.

"Did you hit your head somewhere? Well, let me just ch—"

The words froze in Brix's throat, his eyes almost popping out of their sockets as the mutant level flashed before him.

"Let's leave here!" Brix ordered. "Get the others, we're retreating! Stop fighting—retreat!" he shouted.

'Were we misinformed? They said the orcs were weak and didn't have anyone above level two among them. How is there a level five?!' Brix felt sudden fear grip him.

His men quickly regrouped, wasting no time clearing out of the scene.

Akhil stood there in a daze, completely confused by what had just happened.

{Second Scenario Completed!}

{You have earned a title}

{Savior of the Orc}

'That was a bit too easy,' Akhil thought, running a hand through his hair.

He turned his gaze to the orcs surrounding him.

They all flinched under his eyes.

But from the side, Nibo walked up with an uncertain expression on his face.

Akhil watched him cautiously.

He wouldn't be surprised if another person tried to kill him. That was all that had happened since he opened his eyes.

But he was curious to see what Nibo would do.

To his surprise, Nibo knelt on one knee.

"King, please help your people."

The air instantly turned dramatic.
