"This monster's defense is insane!" Logan gasped, grabbed Lilith's hand, and they backed away about thirty steps.
Meanwhile, the Twin-Headed Wolves stopped attacking Kerparos and instead threw up obstacles to block its chase.
After about fifteen seconds, the left head of Kerparos was the first to come out of its daze.
It shook its head a few times, then glared fiercely at Logan and Lilith.
Next, two bolts of lightning blasted from the left head's mouth and struck the other two heads.
Awooo!
Awooo!
With those two howls, all three of Kerparos's heads were fully awake, glaring at the fleeing Logan and Lilith.
Suddenly, a cold dread rose in Logan's chest, like a venomous snake had fixed its eyes on him. Beside him, Lilith also went pale, the clear softness in her gaze turned cold.
"Master, that three-headed dog has locked onto our souls. It can chase us anytime," Lilith warned, as she sent the four Twin-Headed Wolves lunging at Kerparos.
But before they could get close, Kerparos's three-headed opened wide, gaping bloody maws.
Frost!
Inferno!
Lightning!
Three raging waves of energy surged at the four Twin-Headed Wolves and swallowed them on the spot.
Even Logan and Lilith, retreating at full speed, felt the shock behind them.
"This thing is too strong. Running won't work!" Logan slowed, turned to face Kerparos, and said gravely. "Lilith, looks like we've got to go for broke!"
Logan gripped Lilith's wrist. She stared at his back, eyes reddening.
From the moment they started retreating, she noticed that her Master, Logan, always stayed in front of her instead of using her as a shield.
That tiny detail melted Lilith's heart, and before she knew it, she felt something different for Logan.
Even her eyes turned firm and resolute. "Master, Lilith is confident she can hold off this three-headed dog. Please fall back and link up with Sawako and Yelena."
With that, Lilith pulled her hand free, fully activated her Infernal Lord Form, and stood in front of Kerparos. "Master, these days by your side, Lilith has been very happy."
"Lilith won't let anyone hurt Master—not even a dog!"
As soon as she finished, the demon wings on her back unfolded, showing sharp blade-edges.
"Weaken Will!"
"Mind Lash!"
"Enslave Mind!"
Another combo of Mental Power attacks crashed into Kerparos.
It had just suffered from these tricks, so it was on guard against her now.
With the left and right heads defending at full power, the middle head only went blank for a moment before it cleared.
But in that brief daze, Lilith had already swung her blade-wings down.
Clang!
A burst of clashing metal rang out.
Kerparos was blasted back by two quick slashes, and two thin bloody lines were left on its shoulders.
When it climbed out of the rubble again, it felt a hot, burning pain in its shoulders, and that completely enraged it.
With three more furious roars, a dark, eerie energy rose from under its feet.
Lilith stopped and stared hard at the black energy.
Suddenly, a wave of fear hit her, and she instantly sensed something wrong around her.
Through her Mental Power sense, invisible, weightless chains of Mental Power stretched from the vortex under Kerparos and shot straight at her.
"Soul-Hooking Chains?"
Lilith remembered that Logan had just shared Kerparos's info with her.
Thanks to that prep, she dodged the ambush—and felt a warm surge in her heart again.
"Master should be far away by now..." she breathed, her gaze turning cold. "Three-headed dog, do you know what a succubus does best? Soul attacks!"
Then Lilith raised her Mental Power whip and burned all her mind energy.
Her hair started turning white from the tips, spreading all the way to the roots.
Her face, once smooth and pale, slowly grew fine wrinkles and dark spots.
In just a few breaths, Lilith aged before our eyes.
But her aura and pressure shot up.
Kerparos felt that force head-on and instantly knew something was wrong.
To Lilith's surprise, Kerparos spoke human words: "Woman! What are you doing? I'm just trying to break free from the seal—I don't want a death match!"
"Stop it, now! If you burn your life force and Mental Power, even if you beat me, you'll still die!"
"Mutual destruction does no good for either of us. Can't we just talk this through?"
At Kerparos's plea for peace, Lilith didn't give in. She snapped her whip straight at him.
"Damn it, you crazy woman!" Kerparos roared. All three-headed unleashed magic at full power, trying to stop Lilith's attack.
But Lilith's mind energy wasn't affected at all. It went straight through the magic storm.
The surging mind energy, wrapped in life force, exploded on Kerparos in an instant, blasting him so his skin tore and his flesh split, and his mind weakened.
Not only that, Lilith's Mental Power and life force seemed to be the bane of Kerparos's dark energy. They completely shut down his scary regeneration.
With one lash, Kerparos lost more than half his life, and even his soul was on the edge of collapse.
Kerparos fell to the ground, gasping weakly.
He glared at Lilith with poison in his eyes, waiting for his own magic to crush her to dust and scatter her soul.
However, just as Kerparos's magic was about to hit Lilith, a figure flashed in and instantly pulled her out of the center of the spell.
"This is impossible!" Seeing his enemy dodge death, Kerparos burned with hate.
It stared hard at the figure who had saved Lilith, eyes full of disbelief: "You, a human at Elite 1-star—how could you rescue that succubus from my magic!"
At the edge of the magic storm, Logan slowly set Lilith down and gently stroked her hair. "Sorry. It was my first time using your skill, I'm not used to it yet. I came late."
Lilith looked at Logan's face, her eyes complicated. "Master, did you... use [Infernal Lord Form]?"
Right now, Logan had two horns on his head and two wings on his back. He was a head taller than before, looking just like a demon from hell.
"You forgot. The Temple gave me a 'Philosopher's Stone' that can store one familiar skill." As he said this, Logan kissed Lilith on the forehead. "Say no more. I'll help you recover first."
Then Logan turned to Kerparos, a grin stretching to his ears. "Too bad Lilith didn't one-shot you just now. That's bad luck for you!"
Logan picked up Lilith again and walked slowly toward Kerparos.
Right now, Kerparos's body was weak, his soul was frail, and his magic was scattered, he couldn't move at all.
Seeing Logan come closer and closer, Kerparos tried to act fierce but was weak inside: "Damn you, you insignificant human! In the past, you weren't even worthy to carry my shoes!"
"But this time, I, Lord Kerparos, will be generous and let it slide!"
"Since we're both of the hell race, take that succubus and go!"
Logan could tell Kerparos was bluffing, so he suddenly quickened his pace.
As he walked, he reminded Lilith in his arms: "I think it's about to die. In a moment, remember to use 'Life Drain' and drain it dry. Don't waste it!"
Hearing Logan's reminder, Lilith's eyes lit up.
She was badly hurt and near death, mainly because she burned too much energy.
If she could take the Three-Headed Hell Wolf's life force, not only would she make up for what she spent—she'd even come out ahead.
Thinking this, Lilith shot Kerparos an excited glance and unconsciously licked the corner of her mouth.
Not far away, Kerparos panicked the moment he heard Logan wanted Lilith to drain him dry.
Roar!
Using the last of his strength, he pushed himself up from the ground, planning to roar at Logan to scare him.
But before he could let out a second roar, a devouring light flared between Lilith's brows.
At the critical moment, Kerparos trembled all over and dropped to his knees, begging for mercy.
"Don't kill me! I can be your familiar!"
