Above D'rein, Leo perched on a high rooftop, the city sprawling endlessly below. He watched lights flicker in the alleys he'd passed, the shadows of rooftops he had crossed. Every patrol eliminated, every squad that vanished, had brought him closer to the Syndicate HQ — and closer to the confrontation that awaited.
The council meeting inside HQ would be their response. He knew the Syndicate would react, perhaps violently. But he also knew he'd already dictated the pace of the fight.
From the horizon, dust storms rolled in, the desert winds carrying sand and the faint metallic scent of the city's chaos. The city of shadows had changed tonight, and the ghost in gray was the reason why.
