Catherine's POV
I slowly put my hand in his and smiled at him, before I stood up and right in front of the eyes watching us he gently tucked a strand of hair behind my ear.
My cheeks immediately warmed up and I knew I might have turned Crimson red in the face of public display of affection.
"Let's go". He whispered and led me out with a hand on my lower back. Providing comfort and a sense of security. I smiled softly, noticing the glanced people were stealing at us.
"Where are we going?" I asked in curiosity as we walked towards the car parked a short distance away.
"It's a surprise to celebrate your employment". He said briefly and my eyes widened in shock.
"How did he find out?" I thought in silent horror but still continued walking and my eyes were searching his face for some sort of explanation.
He held the car door for me and I got into the back seat, he came in after me and his men took the two front seats and the car quietly churned to life as we pulled away.
"You are probably wondering how I found out, you will know soon". He spoke up in the silence of the car.
Well, that didn't help with my curiosity at all.
When we arrived where we were going, the sun was waning a little bit.
It was a grand movie theatre.
"The movies?" I thought with a smile. I haven't gone to the movies in the last few years. It was almost like I had forgotten that activity existed.
As we got out of the car, he subconsciously intertwined our fingers and I looked down at our hands and back at him.
Something was amiss or is this normal? I thought as I walked beside him.
We walked for a little while and got to a door, the movie showing inside was displayed outside by the wall on a small digital panel.
I was expecting to see a full or semi full room but I was met by an empty room filled with rows of chairs and the screen on with a show starting on it.
"Huh?" I turned towards him, a little surprised.
"Are we the first to get here?" I muttered happily and he smiled before gesturing forward. I walked ahead of him to a desired seat and he was behind me. I had just sat down when he presented a bouquet of flowers to me.
I took it slowly out of his hand in awe, a little card was inside and I picked it up to see the words on it.
"To my lovely wife, congratulations on your new job—with love from Gerald". I smiled after reading it and looked up at him. I was getting used to this.
Everything felt surreal, how had he found out? But since he said I would find out later I chose not to ask anymore.
I took a sniff at the red roses and held it to my chest happily.
The movie date seems cliche to me but the flowers held a greater spot in my heart.
Was I falling for this stranger?
The movie started and we realised soon that it was quite an erotica one. He looked embarrassed as a sex scene came on and the sound filled the room but I barely noticed until he looked back at me a couple of times.
"I'm so sorry, I think there is an issue with the movie". He apologized and turned back to signal at one of his men.
"No!, I like it. I kinda prefer this one". I said, stopping him. My response caught him by surprise and a smirk pulled at the corner of his lips.
"We are adults, so what's wrong with watching an erotic movie together". I said softly and turned back to the screen.
He remained silent and seemed to have taken more interest in me than the movie as I noticed him staring at me rather than the screen.
The movie ended about an hour and a half later and I turned to smile at him only to notice the way he rested his head on his opened palm and stared at me.
His gaze and the movie we just watched, maybe only I just watched, seems to be having an effect on me and a warm sensation traveled down my body.
He didn't move or say anything and we stayed staring at each other for almost five minutes until I looked away.
"Let's go home". I said softly and he chuckled.
"Are you tired? There is still more for the night". He said and I turned sharply at him.
"I'm not tired ". I said with a wide smile.
"How could I be tired?"
When I get to enjoy the best of everything I could ask for, with an exceptionally sweet man beside me.
We left the place and the sky had noticeably gotten darker and the air a little cooler. I hadn't dressed for this and I was starting to feel the chill in my body because of my exposed legs and light blouse. I had removed the scarf I used with it earlier and now the air gently blew at my collar.
The car drove in total silence and I was enjoying the slow traffic of the city and the bustling of the urban life when the car took a turn away from the highway towards a private lane.
The car stopped after a short time and he held the door for me.
"Oh it's a beach!" I said happily. That made him smile.
The embarrassment from the intense gaze we shared at the movies had completely vanished from his face and I was eager to play in the water.
He walked beside me as I kicked off my heels and stepped into the water. The cold liquid splashed to my feet and my teeth almost chattered in my mouth.
It's very cold!
But I ignored it, the water and setting sun made the place feel surreal.
I walked back to where he was standing and an amused grin was on face as he looked down at my sandy feet.
"Let's take a walk". He said, and I nodded. I put my arm through his and we walked slowly down the deserted beach.
"My Dad called today, he said I should bring you home this weekend. Will you go home with me?" He said suddenly and my heart dropped to the pit of my stomach.
